Why Are Teens So Obsessed With Phones And The Internet/ Social Networking Sites These Days

Does anyone feel like smartphones are ruining society?

I'm 15 and unfortunately I'm growing up in the digital age... This has been bothering me for awhile now. I can't stand seeing people at school glued to their smartphone screens and not talking to people at the lunch table. A few people at my school were even making fun of a kid because he had an iPhone 4s! Now whenever I hang out with my friends, they just check their Facebook, Instragram etc. Instead of doing something fun and active. Smartphones are convenient and all, but I feel like they are making things worse in a way. I'm a bit worried about the future. I mean people are so technology-obsessed.. Does anyone feel the same about this? I feel like the only one with this opinion on things. everyone I've talked to disagrees with me

How do I get over my obsession with phone?

Obsession with phone…You mean obsession with internet, apps, games and such. Because no one has an obsession with a non-living box. Most of the people have it these days. I also had it until a few months ago, when it started taking over my whole life then I finally took a decision to stop it.But failed miserably. Why?Bcoz my mind used to be too focused on the notifications of Facebook,Twitter etc. Always stuck to my virtual life. So, the first thing I did was getting rid of those notifications - by getting rid of social media. there’s no other way.I did same with games too.Because I’m aware of my weeknesses and lack of self-control. No matter how much I plan to use it for a few minutes it always ended up using it for hours. So deleting it seemed like a good idea and it bloody damn worked. Now what can you do for time pass when bored- well then you’re at the right place. Do Quora!

Why do teenagers love social networking sites?

All age groups seem to love social networking sites (yes, even those zygote geniuses with an iPad in the womb).People seem to love social networking as it allows you to connect and interact with others in a less restricted manner. You can find out what that random person you saw once ate for breakfast 4.3 years ago (it was French toast) without ever talking to them. This makes the concept of networking digitally seem addicting; you can freely find out about people. It also gives a sense of inclusion, as you can connect with others and have sense of knowing who broke up, and who didn't go on a luxury cruise. All of this information seems to entertain us primitive humans; dopamine is released and we want more.Another huge bonus about social networking is the fact that you can communicate with other people regardless of your proximity. Thus, I could go and converse with a kid on the streets of Bulgaria, or Facebook folks in Panama, or a girl in Chi-Oh wait.Shoulda’ used a VPN.

How to stop talking to someone online?

Ok, so me and this guy have been talking online for a little over a year, I know he's real because we've webcammed/ talked on phone.
I have him on nearly every social networking site so it's too hard to ignore him.
He's depressed, but has plenty of other online friends and there's not much I can do to help him even though I've tried
He is nice, and everything and we talk everyday (no lie)
I've been wanting to get away from this 'virtual life' because i want to focus on my exams and schoolwork, and I can't help but reply when he messages me
I also want to focus on my relationships in the real world, as they've been becoming weaker and I don't want to waste my time by talking and waiting for this guy to reply, it's sad I know hahaha

I've tried to ignore him before, but it lasted about 3 days and I don't know what to do anymore.
This whole thing sounds abit weird, but I just want to know if you can give e advice on how to stop this once and for all.
Thank you for reading:)
