Why Are The Dark Knight Movies So Violent

Should "The Dark Knight" movie be rated "R"?

No.The film does have dark themes, menacing characters and also some more stuff which easily pushed it ahead of a PG rating.I think the PG-13 is justified because it clearly says “Parents strongly cautioned.”The Dark Knight is a dark and intense superhero film, but that doesn’t mean it should have been rated R. It’s not for very young viewers, obviously. But I don’t think anyone around 13 and above it should have difficultly seeing it. The film has loads of action scenes and some of them are quite violent. Joker and Two-face look menacing, but still the film rarely has any blood for the most part. The film, also, has nothing vulgar or obscene. Not much profanity. Not enough smoking/drinking/drug consumption. Plus, the protagonist is a superhero, who comes along with a lot of cool gadgets and stylish action sequences, thus further making it a clear PG-13 worthy. The thing is, a film should be rated on the basis of overall impact, not just a few scenes. I know some people won’t have been able to get the pencil trick shot out of their mind, but seriously these are just brief moments of intense violence and not detailed enough to be caught be the naked eye. And yes, adding a superhero also brings a level of fantastical nature to these sequences. In the end, the PG-13 rating allows parents to decide whether they should bring in kids or not. An R rating would mean its target audience won’t be able to see it, given the fact that it’s a film about a widely loved superhero. It’s really great to see how Nolan has added several violent scenes without any blood.

Clash of the Movies: The Dark Knight vs. Se7en?

@ Cable the Movie Bro: crap that is going on is one thing, people who are violent and practice violence are omnipresent, but are there really people that smart and powerful, like these two? Imagine yourself trying to do everything Joker did - it's an impossible task: keep an army of lunatics under your total control, rob mob banks, think three steps ahead of everyone every second, set traps involving dozens of people, hundreds, then the whole city, etc.

Is Batman: The Dark Knight too violent for kids?

I wouldn't say that it's too violent, but it may be too menacing for younger kids. There are a lot of scenes that, while they may not depict any gory violence, contain a lot of *threats* of violence. There's a lot of yelling and frightening speeches that may not sit well with a young child.

I personally wouldn't recommend bringing any children under 10.

So who didn't like "The Dark Knight" and why?

omg so many reasons.

the two-face story was wrong and poorly developed: it wasn't fully explained why batman liked harvey dent, and that is not how harvey dent became two-face in the comics.

rachel dawes: she wasn't in the comics, and maggie gyllenhaal is hard to look at compared to katie holmes.

too long, too dark: i wanted it to be slightly more kid friendly and more light-hearted than it was. i was bored for parts of it. it was a little too violent. sure, batman beats people up, but that part at the beginning with fake batmans with guns and even the prisoner with the bomb in his stomach was a little too much for me.

heath ledger was fine: but that isn't joker. joker doesn't wear clown makeup in the comics; he wears human makeup to cover up his chemically-altered face.

Jehovah's Witnesses only please: Is the movie "The Dark Knight" an appropriate movie to watch if you are a JW?

Is the Joker too scary for kids? Is the movie too violent or does it portray demonic or Satanic things or ideas? I havn't read the bible myself so I don't know what symbols, if any, are in the movie that could relate to demonic or Satanic ideas or beliefs.

Here is a link to the movie's synopsis and some sample clips from the movie :

For example, when the Joker burns the money does that symbolize anything Satanic or demonic?

Is the dark knight scary?

i've heard it's a GREAT movie, and i'm gonna go see it this weekend. but is it scary, or just kind of creepy/dark?

i'm like deathly afraid of clowns, so that's the only reason i ask. lol

thank youu :]

Is The Dark Knight Rises better than The Dark Knight?

No you're not! I love the Rises more than the two previous movies in the trilogy. You're not alone you see. I have met alot of people who like Rises more than Dark Knight. The Dark Knight is usually liked better because of Heath Ledger's immortal take on Joker. It is the ultimate hype movie because of the money it made, the speculation and media frenzy when Heath died, and the vision of the director. It was a change in cult of the Hollywood superhero genre. I mean, I loved it but I fell more for Rises due the visuals, the theme(A Tale of Two Cities), and the music. Its in my top three movies. I watched it 2 times on the big screen, I cant tell you the level of excitement back then. So you're certainly not alone in this. Its just a matter of taste, really. The one which majority likes, be it by small margin, you start to perceive it as the best because They liked it. But it all depends on Your taste.
