Why only 6% of the scientists are Republican, 55% Democrat, and the rest Independent?
It is no secret that the ranks of scientists and engineers in the United States include dismal numbers of Hispanics and African-Americans, but few have remarked about another significantly underrepresented group: Republicans. No, this is not the punch line of a joke. A Pew Research Center Poll from July 2009 showed that only around 6 percent of U.S. scientists are Republicans; 55 percent are Democrats, 32 percent are independent, and the rest "don't know" their affiliation. This immense imbalance has political consequences. When President Obama appears Wednesday on Discovery Channel's Mythbusters (9 p.m. ET), he will be there not just to encourage youngsters to do their science homework but also to reinforce the idea that Democrats are the party of science and rationality. Why does there seem to be a lack of major African inventions?
It’s not because of the ignorance of Africans. It’s the ignorance of the rest of the world.When everything is depicted as white, you’d think that Black people had absolutely no hand in creating anything. Sometimes I go to White supremacists sites to see what they say. After a long hot shower, I understand that they believe that Black people “eat their grandmothers” and should be grateful for the civilization that White people bought to the continent.They don’t talk about the Walls of Benin nor Timbuktu or Mansa Musa. My nurse was shocked to see cars and roads in Nigeria. I love her to death but she’s not alone in that thinking. I turned the TV to the Africa Channel to show her more. We don’t ever speak about how Africa didn’t have a Bronze or Copper Age because they’d learn to smelt these materials long before Europe did.People also love to believe that when enslaved Africans were brought to America they were simply ignorant fools that knew nothing. It’s ridiculous. Africans knew about irrigation, agriculture, etc. Some were blacksmiths, farmers, and even military tacticians. Many slaves coming from the Congo were able to put together slave revolts, some of the first seen in America using their military training.Why don’t we know about it? Because bringing it back to the White Supremacy websites, if you can show that Africans did all these things, WHITE SUPREMACY IS A GARBAGE THEORY. It no longer makes sense. Your argument falls to dust. This is one big reason why we don’t hear much in those areas. But if you look at the walls of Benin, you will see that they were mathematically precise in their positioning. These are societies that had low crime, family, traditions were kept alive, and a sense of community.But it’s much more fun to believe that the native people of Africa were like a Tarzan movie come to life versus the beautiful communities that existed, right?
Why are there so few black scientists? Is it REALLY all due to racism or is there something more to it?
The only black scientists I can think of off of the top of my head are Sylvester James Gates, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and a physicist that works in General Relativity and time travel, although I don't know his name. That's it. While these are extremely intelligent men, their contributions are very minor compared to that of whites. Let's suppose that this was due to racism. Then why did blacks achieve virtually nothing of intellectual value prior to the slave trade? Why are their no ancient black civilizations on a par with the Greeks or Chinese? As another point, if it's all racism, then why have Jews, who have faced thousands of years of discrimination and genocide, able to achieve so much in science, medicine and technology?
Explain why scientists believe human civilization began in Africa?
Actually, human civilization first began in Mesopotamia, which is around modern-day Iran. That was the first complex society. The human species, however, began in Africa. We know this because this is where the earliest evidence of Homo sapiens can be found. Evidence of the latest Australopithecines are also found in Africa, implying that the entire genus Homo actually evolved in Africa; not just Homo sapiens. Not only that, but our closest living genetic relatives (Chimpanzees, Bonobos, and Gorillas) are all found in Africa. Human remains found outside of Africa (such as H. erectus, H. heidelbergensis, H. floresiensis, H. neanderthalensis, etc.) are all younger than the human remains of the same species found in Africa, suggesting that there were actually several migrations out of Africa, before Homo sapiens finally decided to leave.
What evidence do scientists have to support the idea that the continents were once one large landmass?
There is few hints like same geology at diferernt geografic points related to the same period; Same fauna indicating same region or at leastthey migrated through some kind of bridge; Obvious fit about the continents. What cause it is the tectonic movement. Dorsals have separated it and we still in movement there is measure about hom many inches we are far from Europe/AFrica and also to other continents.
