Why Can I Not Join A Network On Facebook

What are 'networks' on facebook?

"You can join multiple networks, but you will have to choose one to be a primary network. Your primary network should be with whichever network you feel most connected. Your primary network will appear next to your name, and will influence which search results you see first. For example, if you belong to the NYU network and the New York, NY network, and select NYU as your primary network, your name will appear as John Smith (NYU) to other users. Similarly, when you search for something, results from NYU will appear first, followed by results from the New York, NY network, and then from other networks."

How do I join my college's network on Facebook? The new design seems to have deleted the "join" option.

They are rolling it out on a university-by-university basis.  They started with Harvard and are gradually expanding it to other "prestige" schools. It probably wouldn't hurt to drop them an email letting them know that there is interest at your school. In what order did Facebook open to college and university campuses?

Why can't I add my High school on my network in Facebook?

Unfortunately, Facebook as of now doesn't allow people to join a particular high school network when they are NOT currently in high school. I also graduated in 2008, but as a late Facebook user, I wasn't able to join my HS network. It showed my high school, but I had to click on the different graduating years like 2009, 2010, 2011,..etc.

You can go to the Facebook help section concerning networks, and they answer all your inquiries there, including high school networks.

I hope this helped! :)

Should I join Facebook?

The best way for you to use Facebook is to join, add a few friends, then turn on email notifications. Then, only go to Facebook when you get an email, and respond to the notification (accept a friend request, reply to a message, RSVP to an event, etc). If you find yourself getting many emails per day, turn them off and start checking facebook.com once a day, only responding to notifications.Eventually, if you enjoy Facebook and find yourself wanting to become more active, start checking it more frequently, browsing your News Feed, and adding content yourself. This is a good compromise for someone in your situation to ease into Facebook and stop at the right balance point. You won't miss out on things on Facebook that directly concern you (like an event invitation) but you won't actually use the site more than strictly necessary (unless you decide you want to).

Would others in my network know if I joined a Facebook group?

If you join a closed or secret group, no.If you join a public group, yes. They will see it in your list of groups.Joining groups doesn’t show up in the feed anymore. But you might be seen in the roster of members when people visit that group. There’s no setting that hides your groups though. Only public groups are shown in your list of groups in your profile.

What's the benefit of joining a "network" on Facebook?

Being part of a network allows you to easily find people you may know/be easily found. Also, you can modify your privacy settings so only people who are part of the network can find you, or see certain content on your profile. If I remember correctly, you can only join networks that are school/employment related.

High school networks facebook?

I've actually gone through this problem before. I tried everything and nothing would work. So I contacted facebook directly by going to the help section on the bottom and then clicking on the networks link. Afterwards you will be redirected to networks page. Scroll to the bottom and you should see a link that says "write us a message". Tell them that you are unable to sign up for your high school network even though you're a student. They will send you a follow up email in a few days and assist you in becoming a member of the correct network. I hope this information helps and good luck getting into your high school network.

Would you join a social network which is a combination of Facebook and Quora?

I guess every platform should be build with one unique feature. Facebook has its uniqueness and Quora has its uniqueness. That's why both of them are so popular. Besides, purpose of both these platforms are different. You can think of combining the features of two different platforms, but you can't think of combining the purpose. I am not sure how the audience will react to it.
