Why do you waste time playing video games when you could be out enjoying the world?
Let me tell you the story of a deeply intelligent person who “wasted” a lot of his time growing up playing video games. My boyfriend and I met in college, where we were both part of the honors program. He was brilliant in so many ways. An amazing musician, a top-level scholar, an accomplished athlete, a humble yet fearless leader. What I didn’t know when we first started dating is that he was also a devoted gamer. This didn’t make sense to me at first. Forget my own secret Sims addiction. This guy was so accomplished, but here he was, telling me that in high school, he used to play HOURS of video games, sacrificing sleep. Granted, he still managed to have a social life and get good grades, but with his talents, wouldn’t he be better off doing something else?Fast forward five years into our relationship. We are now “adults” and my company asks me to move to Germany. I am excited but also terrified – how will he find a job in this extremely competitive job market? He sends off application after application, but they all want someone who speaks German. We’re both anxious all the time. What if he can’t stay?Eventually, he starts getting offers. But the companies aren’t quite the perfect fit. Until… he is invited to work at a video game company, which releases some of the most popular games. Part of his interview? Defeating a boss in the game he’ll be working on.Moral of the story is – don’t judge someone by passions you deem as “less than.” Video games provide many people with relaxation, community, and an opportunity to build a world based off their imagination or to learn storytelling skills. My boyfriend and I are objectively successful young people, who travel and see the world. But sometimes, it just feels good to live in your imagination. And other times, your hobbies lead you to rewarding careers and experiences. There are healthy ways to have a relationship with video games. Too much of anything is a bad thing. But video games are not objectively bad, or objectively a waste of your time. We all have different hobbies. And that’s okay.
Why did video game stole my boyfriend!!!!?????
Maybe you should stop worrying about getting back at him and just worry about leaving him. If he plays games too much, in your opinion, than what're you going to do? He may grow out of it or whatever, but if it's too much for you and he doesn't slow it down when you ask him to, then why bother? Guys like to play video games. I've never been with a guy who plays too much in my opinion. People just like to do their own thing sometimes.
Asking my boyfriend to play video games with me?
Ive asked this in the singles and dating category and all 3 answers were girls just telling me to be honest in my relationship...it was kind of stupid so im asking it here instead hoping to get more guy answers ok so my boyfriend has no idea that i play video games like cod and modern warfare. I know that hes pretty much a hardcore gamer and loves to talk about video games all the time to his friends. I come off as girly and i am pretty girly. i like clothes and makeup but i cant keep my hands off videogames. on dates we go to the movies and he askes me if i would like to see some stupid chickflick movie. At the mall hes always asking me if he can buy me something or if i want to buy some clothes and idk i dont like to do this stuff so much with him. i imagine the perfect date is to just go to an arcade and play games all day long and just get some fast food or go to each others houses to play xbox. but im afraid he might not want to, and maybe he thinks he thinks that playing video games should just be reserved for him and his guy friends...ive never seen him play but i think hes really good and maybe he wont want to play someone of a lower level.. argh what should i do?! please help. what if he likes the girly me only!?

My boyfriend won't play video games with me and gets angry if I ask?!?
Okay, so I'm 19 and my boyfriend is 18. This is gonna sound really childish, but we both play League of Legends. But the thing is, he never wants to play with me? He makes excuses like "I don't feel like playing" or "I only like playing by myself" but yet he's right there playing? Like I don't get it? This is really silly, but he always plays with this girl and it really bothers me. He chooses her over me? He even deleted me off his friends list and I'm his girlfriend!!! Like yeah this is really stupid because it's a game, but it really gets to me! EXAMPLE: So today, I asked him if he wants to play with me. He said he didn't really feel like playing. I said to him "but you've been playing all day." And his response was "**** off already, don't you ******* starting **** with me. Annoying prick."......Okay, I just asked him a question and he calls me names? He went on saying, "I'm not obligated to ******* play with you. Controlling *****. You're not telling me what I can and can't ******* do on a video game, get **** away from me" THOSE WERE HIS EXACT WORDS. And of course, he went to go play with that chick. I mean, I just ASKED. Am I the wrong one here? This probably sounds like I'm making a big deal out of it, but is it normal to get that kind of response??? It just makes me wonder if it's normal for a guy turn down his girlfriend to play games with for someone else? Oh, and guys, do you like playing games with your girlfriend? I'm just worried he will do this in serious situations in the future.
Boyfriend addicted to video games?
My boyfriend is addicted to video games. He's always liked them, but two weeks ago he went out and bought an Xbox and I've barely seen him since. We used to always talk every day on the phone and now he says he doesnt want to talk on the phone anymore because he's busy playing his Xbox. Every time I call him all i hear in the backgroung is people dying and gunshots. We've been going out for two years and I've always felt like i could call him and talk to him whenever I wanted but now I can't. And whenever I go over to his house he ignores me and plays video games the whole time! and when i ask him to please stop playing the video games when im over hes rude to me. I just want to break up with him because obviously he loves the Xbox more than he loves me.
My boyfriend chose video games over me?
Now he's saying if i want to watch the movie, and I said you said no the first time so im not going to bother... now he said im not going to choose video games over my girlfriend..

How would you explain videogames to a farmer from the late 18th or early 19th century?
I would tell him that video games were a category of games. Much like how card games have their own category as well as board games. When he asked what a video game was, I would tell him a video game is a game which is played on an electrically powered device with a screen. When he asked me what a screen was, I would tell him that a screen is a piece of glass which is superimposed on the electrical device. I would also tell him that this glass with the assistance of the device is able to create whatever image it desires. This device creates thousands of images which it cycles through one after the other. As it is cycling through the images it is generating, it is providing the illusion that motion and animated life is happening to the person observing the screen.A game is then made out of this by controlling a fictional person within the cycling of images. This would blow the person’s mind but eventually he would be able to comprehend and understand it once he played a video game himself.
