Why Did Hitler Invade Russia During Wwii

Why did Hitler choose to Invade Russia in WWII?

Victor Suvarov, a Soviet Intelligence officer supplies the solution to this riddle. As Suvarov himself notes in his magnificent book, “The Icebreaker,” every German schoolboy of the era knew better than to start a two-front war.The reason the Fuhrer invaded Russia is because it was a reaction to, and a last ditch effort at, saving Germany and the greater West from being completely over-run and destroyed by the Bolsheviks.Stalin had quietly assembled the world’s most fearsome war-machine right under the Fuhrer’s nose. The incontrovertible evidence of this existential threat was obtained far too late in the game to avert open conflict forcing the Fuhrer to commence a two-front operation.Read Ice-Breaker and find out for yourself. Its a real treat!

Why did Hitler invade Russia in the winter?

Germany invaded Russia for many reasons, all of them bad:Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf that Germany needed to conquer living space in the east, that communism should be destroyed and that Bolshevism was a Jewish-inspired philosophy. All of these beliefs indicated a desire and rationale to invade Russia, directly through the Pale of Settlement.Hitler thought that they just had to kick the door down and the whole rotten structure of the Soviet Union would come crashing down. They thought they would conquer in a matter of weeks and so did not provide winter clothing for their troops. The Wehrmacht conquered Poland, Denmark, Norway, France and the Low Countries so rapidly and easily compared to WW1, pushing Britain off the Continent in the process, that further conquests seemed easy. Many military experts thought Germany without question could take the USSR.Stalin had killed most of his marshals, generals and top colonels in a recent purge, and the Red Army performed poorly against Finland in the Winter War. Stalin was trying to reform and re-build the Red Army and increase war industries, and Hitler figured time was in favor of the Soviet Union if he did not act sooner rather than later.Hitler and his generals attached too much significance to Nazi racial theories.Hitler wanted to make peace with Britain, but Britain beat Germany in the Battle of Britain and the outcome of the Battle of the Atlantic was uncertain. Hitler said he wanted to knock the USSR out of the war so that Britain would then have no hope of winning the war and would make peace.Hitler’s successful audacious moves against the advice of his generals made his top generals powerless to change his mind or correct his ideas and reduced their proper general staff oversight.German intelligence and planners failed to know about or properly note the effects of logistic, repair, and supply difficulties, problems converting Soviet railroads to German use, the terrible roads in Russia, the effects of dust, mud and frost, the USSR’s 14,000,000 potential available soldiers and the speed with which cadres could form divisions, the T-34 tank, the inability of German infantry to keep up with armored divisions, and the sheer size of the USSR, the Red Army and the war industries supporting them.Hitler invaded on June 22, 1941, months before winter came.

Why did the Germans invade Russia during ww2?

Operation Barbarossa was the code name for Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II that commenced on June 22, 1941. over 4.5 million troops of the Axis powers invaded the USSR along a 1800-mile front. the operation was named after the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa of the Holy Roman Empire, a leader of the Third Crusade in the 12th century. the planning for Operation Barbarossa started on December 18, 1940; the secret preparations and the military operation itself lasted almost a year, from the spring of 1940, through the winter of 1941.

the operational goal of Barbarossa was the rapid conquest of the European part of the Soviet Union west of a line connecting the cities of Arkhangelsk and Astrakhan, often referred to as the A-A line. at its conclusion in December 1941, the Red Army had repelled the strongest blow of the Wehrmacht. Hitler had not achieved the victory he had expected, but the situation of the Soviet Union remained critical. tactically, the Germans had won some resounding victories and occupied some of the most important economic areas of the country, most notably in Ukraine. despite these successes, the Germans were pushed back from Moscow and were never able to mount an offensive simultaneously along the entire strategic Soviet-German front again.

the failure of Operation Barbarossa resulted in Hitler's demands for additional operations inside the USSR, all of which eventually failed, such as continuation of the Siege of Leningrad, Operation Nordlicht, and Battle of Stalingrad, among other battles on the occupied Soviet territory.

Operation Barbarossa remains the largest military operation, in terms of manpower, area traversed, and casualties, in human history. its failure is considered a turning point in the fortunes of the Third Reich. Most importantly, Operation Barbarossa opened up the Eastern Front, which ultimately became the biggest theater of war in world history. Operation Barbarossa and the areas which fell under it became the site of some of the largest battles, deadliest atrocities, terrible loss of life, and horrific conditions for Soviets and Germans alike - all of which influenced the course of both World War II and the 20th century history.

In WWII, why did Russia invade Germany?

Unfortunately, you seem to be misinformed.German tanks pushing deep into the Soviet UnionIt was Germany that attacked the Soviet Union first, sweeping aside the Red Army and pushing straight into the heart of the Motherland.Only to be thrown back at the gates of Moscow and later at Stalingrad.Soon the initiative shifted to the Soviet’s side and they pushed deep into Berlin, destroying what remained of the Wehrmacht. So when you say that the Soviet Union attacked first you are mistaken, Germany was the one who struck the first blow.

Why did Hitler invade Russia? Why did the invasion fail? Could it have succeeded?

Well, Hitler's agenda was total world domination. Uno of his slogans was: "Today Germany belongs to us, tomorrow, the whole world." He wanted to make Moscou his headquarters for the conquer of Asia.
Why did he fail ?
Well, several reasons. Mussolini said that to conquer the soviet union, three generals must be defeated: general mud, general distance, and general ice. Add to this that Hitler began to mistreat the Russian population, who had received the Germans like some sort of helpers to eliminate Stalin's tyranny.
But when they realized that Hitler was as bad as Stalin, the Russians decided that they would stay with their own home made dictatorship and began to fight the Germans.
Also, in a secret reunion of the top nazis to decide the invasion, Goering stated that sooner or later the USA would enter the war as well, and if they attacked the soviets they would be practically alone against the whole world.
Could it have succeeded ?
Perhaps, had been Hitler more cautious and prudent

Why did Hitler invade Russia and fight a two front war when obviously that would stretched any army's resources?

Robert,Stalin had amassed an enormous force of tanks, artillery and men in preparation for a surprise attack upon Germany and Europe in Summer of 1941. (Exactly as he he had done to Poland in '39). Hitler had no choice but to attack first.Said Hitler of the invasion:"Already in 1940 it became increasingly clear from month to month that the     plans of the men in the Kremlin were aimed at the domination, and thus the destruction, of all of Europe. I have already told the nation of the build-up of Soviet military power in the East during a period when Germany had only a few divisions in the   provinces bordering Soviet Russia. Only a blind person could fail to see that a military build-up of world-historical dimensions  was being carried out. And this was not in order to protect something that was being threatened, but rather to attack that which seemed incapable of defense ... I may say this today: If  the wave of more than 20,000 tanks, hundreds of divisions, tens of thousands of artillery pieces, along with more than 10,000         airplanes, had not been kept from being set into motion against the Reich, Europe would have been lost."I did a piece on this subject at TomatoBubble -- here: WHY DID HITLER INVADE THE SOVIET UNION?Have a look at my book as well -- The Bad War: The REAL story of World War II

What places did Hitler plan to invade during the WW2?

His plan was clearly set out in his book 'Mein Kampf' (1925) and he repeated it in almost all his speeches, and in the Nazi party plans all through the 1930's, he planned to make war on/ invade.....
1.) All Jewish people and get rid of them in Europe.
2.) Poland, Czechoslovakia and Soviet Russia, exterminate/ enslave their populations and recolonize them with Germans for German 'living space' and expansion.
2.) France in revenge for WWI and to knock them out for good.
3.) The Mideast oil states of Iraq/ Iran (as the new German empire would need oil).
4.) Any other 'inferior' place he felt like, as needed.
India and China were poor/ backward back then and no one much wanted them including Hitler.
He did not originally plan to make war/ invade the UK, USA, and 'the English speaking peoples' until 10-20 years after 1-4 above were completed.

When Hitler invaded Russia in June 1941, did he remember Napoleon's experience in invading Russia? Why didn't Hitler learn from Napoleon's debacle?

Forget everything you know about Germans freezing to death in front of Moscow and encircled in a winter counteroffensive at Stalingrad. That hasn't happened yet, and that's the “obvious” echo of Napoleon.Instead, look forward, in 1941. Napoleon was 129 years ago. Since then, warfare has been completely transformed by technology. Plus, only 23 years earlier, there had been a war with Russia, and the Germans had WON IT, while fighting the French and British at the same time! Treaty of Brest-Litovsk - Wikipedia. The idea of a political breakdown in Russia during a war with Germany, followed by German-imposed terms, wasn't wishful thinking. It was the outcome of the most recent match! And wasn’t it only eighteen months ago that the so-called “red army” had been schooled by the Finns? And wasn't it only last year that the Germans took down France in SIX WEEKS? I don't know how much this factored into Hitler’s thinking, but I can understand it if he and his generals dismissed Napoleon as quite irrelevant.Hindsight, as they say, is 20/20.
