Why Did My Carburetor Spark

How do you fix a flooded carburetor?

There’s no such thing as a flooded carburetor..The carb may have put out too much fuel and flooded the engine ( too much fuel for the engine to start, wet spark plug, etc.) The purpose of a choke is both to start an engine, AND to get one ready to start.. It depends on what type of engine..The carb is leaking fuel into the engine.. It’s not flooded, it’s broken, and needs a rebuild. You’ve flooded the engine with too much choke, forgot to turn on the ignition, pumped the gas pedal a few times too many ( old car), pushed the primer bulb ( 4 stroke mower),too much.. etc..Let’s assume you’ve flooded the engine..Depends what kind of engine.. Car? Hand held 2 stroke? 4 stroke lawnmower?Or,Car.. Hold your foot to the floor, and DON’T lift your foot up. hit the starter and don’t stop until it starts, or the battery dies.2 stroke hand held ( week whacker, etc.) Just turn the choke off and hold the throttle wide open and start yanking the starter rope. Or, pull the spark plug out and pull the starter rope until it stops spitting crap out the plug hole. Dry the plug off as best you can ( or pass a propane torch over the electrode to dry it off) put it back in, hold the throttle open, and start yanking. There’s WAY too much fuel in the crankcase, ( that’s how a 2 stroke inducts the air / fuel mixture ). If it’s a chainsaw, or similar, with a high speed idle function… Pull the choke out, then push it in one notch, but don’t touch the throttle. It’s now got the throttle set to get enough fresh air in to clear the combustion chamber and start.4 stroke.. Let’s say it’s a lawnmower or something similar.. Full throttle, no choke and start yanking the pull cord, Same as above, if you can easily get the spark plug out, do so. Dry it off, put it back in and start yanking the pull start. If it doesn’t have a choke setting.. that means that the choke is automatic.. Take off the air cleaner, and prop the choke plate open with a screwdriver. ( it’s like a little flap, that you’ll see as soon as you take the air cleaner off) .. Start yanking!!

Do diesel engines have spark plugs and carburetors?

Diesel engine doesn't have a spark plug and carburetor due to the high compression ratio in diesel engine .since fuel and air enters seperately their is no need of carburetor also.once the air is compressed to a high temperature fuel is sprayed on it due to this the combustion takes place.hence there is no need of spark plug and carburetor

Why is a carburetor not used in diesel engines?

Just stick to your basics you will answer it definitely !Let me tell you aproach to think for the reason -Here is the crisp -What is the purpose of carburettor- it provides a homogeneous Air-Fuel mixture according to the engine load required or throttle position .Now lets think about the basics of combustion in Diesel ( compression ignition) and Petrol Engine (Spark Ignition ) - combustion occurs in diesel engine when fuel is injected into highly compressed air ( high temperature because of compression)Combustion occurs in petrol engine when Air-fuel mixture is ignited with the help of spark plug .The reason of different combustion theories for diesel and petrol engines is because of nature (volatility, self-ignition temp etc. )of petrol and diesel .Hence no presence homogeneous air-fuel mixture is there in diesel engine so there is no question of carburettor there .FYI: Nowadays carburettor is obsolete in petrol engines (except two wheelers )P:S not that detailed one because it is office time , writing sitting in front of diesel engine itself !!!!

Do diesel engines have carburetors? If so, how do diesel carburetors differ from gasoline carburetors?

Short answer - no - diesel is to viscous to properly vaporise in a carburettor at normal temperatures, and even if it would, its a very bad idea to have combustible mixture in the cylinder during compression on a diesel engine.Slightly longer answer - as has been said already it is possible to build a dual - fuel engine. The most common type is (was) designed to be started on standard petrol/gasoline, and ran like any other spark ignition engine, complete with either buzz coils or coil/distributor and spark plugs. When properly warm, specifically when the carburettor had warned up, the fuel supply would the be switched to ‘kerosene’ (not really kerosene, but a now obsolete blend close to it). The point is they are both spark-ignition fuels. It IS possible to build a true petrol/diesel engine. My uncle once owned a narrowboat that had a 4 cylinder engine (I wish I could remember the manufacturer). It had a small fixed speed carburettor for petrol, a magneto and distributor, all or which was used only for starting from stone cold , and a diesel injector pump and injectors for normal running. For the first start of the day, the engine would be started like any petrol engine. After about a minute, a lever would physically re-configure the cylinder head for increased compression ratio and open up a passage into a chamber into which the diesel injector operated. At the same time the petrol supply was cut off and the magneto disengaged. The engine would then run as a true diesel. The engine was decades old THEN and its been a good 30-odd years since I was on that boat.

Can I use iridium spark plugs with a carburetor motorcycle engine?

I am planning to buy some iridium spark plugs for my Honda NTV 650 Revere (with carbs) to get a little more edge on strong accelerations, but a guy working at a motorcycle parts shop told me that this type of plugs are not recommended on engines with carburetors (not in a way that they are useless in terms of extra power or less fuel consumed, but they just don’t work properly) and I should use normal ones? Is it true? I don't trust him, that's why I am asking here.

Why is my carburetor spraying gas straight up? Chevy 350 edlebrock Carb?

Yes, but did you install the distributor or did it come already installed. Turn it back to TDC for #1, remove the cap and make sure that the rotor is pointing to the number #1 wire on the cap. then recheck the wire placement on the cap and spark plug (check the rotation of the distributor so that it matches the placement of the wires). If this is correct, remove the spark plugs and turn over the engine with the coil wire pulled to clear the cylinders (be careful of the gas shooting out). recheck the idle enrichment screws to they are 1 1/2 turns out and no further. With the plugs out---crank the engine while watching the carb; to make sure that the carb is not dumping fuel (because of the fact that no manifold vacuum is being created because of the plugs being out, no visible fuel should becoming out of the carb--if there is you have a problem there). I'm hoping that this new engine was factory run and preluded. If not--one or more of the lifter may have not pumped up with oil and not allowing the exhaust valves to open--I hope this helps

Can I clean my Spark Plugs? Brake, Carb cleaner? or wire brush?

Ive got a 02 altima 2.5L 124Kmiles...

Can I clean them with brake cleaner? Carb cleaner? Wire brush?

I did clean them with a small wire brush...but didnt took off all the dirt...should I use brake or carb cleanr instead?

Thanks!

Homelite chainsaw wont start. It has good spark I poured gas in the carb.?

homelite chainsaw wont start. It has good spark I poured gas in the carb. Shouldnt I get at least a sputter ? like it is trying to start. I was thinkin if we got spark and I manualy put gas in the carb. something should happin. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions other then the shop. Also does anyone no where I may find a schematic for a homelite 150 automatic ?

Spraying carb cleaner into combusiton chamber via spark plug holes to clean injectors?

Will this have any effect at all, and will it damage the engine?! I cant
get the injectors out and have run one lot of injector cleaner through the tank but its made the problem worse (maybe its dislodged and then re-lodged some dirt). I want to clean the outside ends of the injectors so will spraying carb cleaner into the combustion chamber do this ( i want to leave it to soak for a while) and will it damge th engine once turned back on?
