Why Did The White Man Suppress The Black People

Are black people actually offended by white people dressing up like black people for Halloween? Would they think it would be offensive for a black person to dress up like a white person?

I'm African.Like, I grew up in Nigeria.I never saw any Nigerian paint their faces White, to look like White people or to celebrate some stupid event!Like NEVER!Remember we were colonized by the British (White people) & many of our citizens were carted off to slave away in the West.We should be angry, right? & want to mock White people. We've earned the rights, right? But no! Nothing. No mockery for White people.Images of African Slavery and the Slave TradeI've gone on the internet to look for White face but didn't see anything. But Black face? Why Black face?Given the racist, sad, evil, twisted, & disrespectful history of Black face, I wonder why many of you continue doing it.You weren't oppressed by Black people!Talk about beating a dead horse!!Why do you have this question up there? My Nigerian mom would ask if doing something this stupid would give you more money, blood or elongate your life? Will it?Or you avoid a million other thrill-seeking activities to just disrespect Black people!!Why will you want to do that?Have Black people not suffered enough? Are we not suffering enough for your comfort? So, your ancestors were slave owners? They committed despicable evil acts!!You are not them. Why don't you become better?Left to me, I'd leave anyone who wants to wear a frigging black face.Go for it!Maybe you'd eventually wear yourself out wearing your black face, quit asking questions like this or trying to get on a suffering Black person's last nerves!!I do wish for the ancient African days when hexes & curses were real so, when you stupidly wear your fun black face, you remain like that………forever! You wanna celebrate Halloween with a black face?Blackface Halloween costume sparks train dramaUniversity of Florida students' blackface Halloween costumes draw criticismserena and venus – Atlanta Black Starwikipedia.orgebayBoo!Did you think you just wear the damned face for 1 day?No, honey! Now, you get to scare yourself & everyone around you for life!Boo!!PS: About your question, “Would they think it would be offensive for a Black person to dress up like a White person?”I don't know what goes through the average racist White person's mind but I'm pretty sure many Black people don't wake to thinking,Today is the day I paint myself White to tease White people. We have enough racial burdens & responsibilities already! If you find yourself thinking that way, go get a job or volunteer for Charities!

Is Hip Hop black music that black people dont listen to anymore?

I think you have a "few" racial hangups. You are trying to add music to the new sterotype of racial hangups. It just doesn't work. If you look at the number of "white" undergroud rappers there are a lot. If you look at the number of "white" suburban" kids that buy "underground" CD's from the stores....it is a lot.
Some of your points are true, I will agree, but there was too much malice added in that made it a bit harsh.
I myself am white, a true lover of all Hip Hop & all forms for music. I am well educated and do enjoy a glass of scotch on the rocks. BUT...I have been married to an African American man for over 20 years and we have 23 & 24 year old Sons. We are succesful and quite affultent in our society circle. I "pump" RHH 98% of the time in my car, whereas if I drive one of my Husband's cars there may well be Jazz or "alternative" music in there, I know to bring my own music.
I also think you missed the point that most "older" black people also love the "old skool" RHH and also favor the older groups. Saying that is the "white" people who favor them is truly wrong. You are sterotyping where it isn't fair. I know that at family gathering for my husband's family when the old skool music hits the turntables everyone gets up and dances.
You "rant" was "cute" and "stolen" but not "all true". It was a good point to make so that people could give input, but not "all true".
Peace & Love & Happy New Year

Why do you think some groups have tried to suppress the culture of others over the course of history?

Because they don't want certain groups to know just how great their people are. It's the first step of generational brainwashing.

Why do black people feel offended if a non black person use N word on them but not when a black person does the same?

The term you’re looking for is in group. Whoever you are, anonymous OP, I’m pretty sure you have some group, probably more than one, that is your “in group”. Family usually qualifies, sometimes a group of close friends, sometimes co-workers (this is often the case for professions like police or fire fighters). Whatever it is, there are going to be things — maybe certain words, maybe a kind of joke — that you’re willing to hear from the people in your in group but would be offended by if someone else said it.That’s what’s going on here. Black people have reclaimed a word that was universally seen as very offensive to them and are asserting their power over the word by using it among themselves.

Why did whites work so hard to deny blacks an education?

Whites justified slavery by telling themselves that blacks were inherently less intelligent/civilized/moral than they were. Allowing them education would reveal this to be a lie. They needed to deny their slaves education and dignity so they could pretend that there was a reason other than base self-interest and callousness for keeping them enslaved. Also, free access to ideas is very dangerous to authority.
