Why Did Tony George Start The Irl

What radio station will carry the INDY 500 in the Kansas City area?

Kansas-based stations:
PITTSBURG - KKOW-AM - 860 AM

Missouri-based stations:
KANSAS CITY - WHB-AM - 810 AM
BETHANY - KAAN-AM - 870 AM
CLINTON - KDKD-FM - 95.3 FM
(Fulton, MO is probably too far away)

Nebraska-base stations:
BLAIR - KBLR-FM - 97.3 FM
FAIRBURY - KUTT-FM - 99.5 FM
(2 others in Nebraska - probably too far away)

Know it's not much, but that's straight off the IndyCar.com web site. I believe IndyCar.com *should* have live streaming video, which is usu. accompanied by the IMS Radio Network's broadcast - the video may not be great, but Mike King and Company should come through loud-and-clear.

Good luck! Tell the boss to back off a bit - it's Sunday, and it's "The 500", for cryin' out loud!

Is the Indy 500 or Indy Car/Cart racing even relevant anymore?

It seems to me that CART all went downhill after Mercedes-Benz entered the INDY 500 in 1993 or 94, waxed the field, and neither the Indy 500 or CART ever recovered after that.

Maybe the times have just changed on what interests people now?

Indy Car Racing Fans ?

I became an IndyCar fan back in 1993 after buying a video game for my computer. Once I had that, I was hooked. Admittedly, I followed CART/Champ Car more than the IRL simply because I liked the diversity of tracks that the former offered. However, I am ecstatic that the two series are now one and I am looking forward to many great seasons of racing in the new IRL IndyCar series.

What's great about watching it? Speed, strategy and skill. These cars go very fast, faster than a NASCAR Sprint Cup car, they require tremendous skill to drive-they are always on a knife edge-and the strategy of having to think and plan all conceivable angles makes it fun and exciting for me. I would suggest watching a race and finding out for yourself what we know. I can almost guarantee you will be hooked.
