Did team USA lose their soccer match against Trinidad & Tobago because the players forgot to kneel down during the national anthem?
(Warning: mini-rant ahead.)I understand you’re joking, but your suggestion is not even remotely funny or true. The USMNT lost because pretty much the entire team played disgracefully last night - aside from Pulisic (and perhaps Dempsey when he was brought in) very few players seemed to be playing with the intensity that you want to see when representing your nation with a good chance to qualify for the World Cup. Last night’s showing also reflected poorly on the overall talent level of the squad - the few players who play internationally in Europe showed enough of why they are capable of playing at a higher level, but the majority of the team coming from the MLS did not impress at all.If one thing was made abundantly clear, it’s that US Soccer needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror and make some significant changes, starting at the top. There’s really no excuse for the kind of complacency it takes to fail to qualify in CONCACAF, but they now have four years to hopefully sort some things out. In the meantime, can we all agree not to trivialize the anthem protests (both the cause they represent and the effect they are having on the entire country, which needs to be taken seriously no matter which side you are on) by making stupid, cynical jokes?

1.10 am IST 24th June: Jerome Boateng sent off from the field! RED CARD!! oh my god what did he do!! why did he do that!! why did he even attempt such a sloppy tackle when he has already had a yellow card!1:15 am: Mario Gomez!!! Man why cant you pull off a Miroslav Klose even once in life!! Though this shot was on target and far better than his other attempted ones.1:18 am: 90mins over. Literally on the verge of crying! After seeing the nightmarish defeat of Argentina just couple of nights back it has become almost certain that my favourite team is also about to leave! And its heartbreaking!1:20 am: Have already become numb when Julian Brandt's shot hits the bar. This guy has come in place of Sane and has hit the bar in the last Mexico match too. Doesn't make any difference now.1:23 am: Man did I see it correctly??!! What on earth was that??!! Is it really a goal?? :O Tony Kroos yeeaaassssss!!! I cant believe what you did just now Kroos!! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE!!! Tears of joy!!Yeah I literally had a sinusoidal wave of emotions running through out me last night. Germany started phenomenally...playing much better than what they did with Austria or Mexico. There was a flurry of attack from both sides of the box during the first ten minutes but none of them converted. I agree I was quite happy when the penalty was not given to Sweden but Germany paid it off with a misplaced pass from the MAN himself Kroos! But that’s Germany, you know its not over until its really over! They made a comeback and scored an equalizer early in the second half.And at the penultimate minute of the match in extra time, Kroos scored from an unbelievable free kick. I was just wondering how did he keep himself so cool during that point of time. It was the last minute yet he appropriately calculated the short dist pass he has to make to get the exact deflection and distance to make it through! Unbelievable just Unbelievable!!By the way this man has been nominated for FIFA Ballon d'Or for third time in a row.P.S. I absolutely loved Ronaldo and Luka Modric's goals too :D
