Why don't the police arrest celebrities who obviously smoke marijuana?
Im talking about like Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne, Mac Miller, people who are known for smoking a lot of weed. I know they do sometimes, like wiz khalifa just recently got arrested, but why dont they get arrested all the time, and for a long time?
Why do people smoke weed?
there are plenty of medical benefits of marijuana such as helping to stimulate appetite and relieve nausea in AID’s and Cancer patients. Some believe it helps in the treatment of depression. Some states like California have brought initiatives to legalize the drug for medicinal purposes, which have proved to work exceptionally well. Marijuana is also known to relieve the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis, Glaucoma and Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome, which is a common problem our troops are facing after coming back from Iraq. Even well respected celebrities are known to use marijuana for it’s medicinal use; American celebrity and television talk show host Montel Williams is known to use Marijuana to relieve his multiple sclerosis symptoms. Also for people that don't use it for medicinal purposes, it generally makes the users senses more intense, which is often great while eating or doing something you enjoy, basically increasing happiness while smoking. Simple is that, plus it's a plant which makes it seem more safe than many other mind altering substances.
Why do celebrities never sue paparazzi for defamation?
To add to what Cliff and Jon have said, proving defamation would not have to involve just malice, but actual harm. Even if the attention is unwanted (as opposed to Matt Wasserman's example), if the story doesn't actually hurt the celebrity's ability to work or damage them in some way, the suit would likely not succeed.As far as Matt Wasserman's story, you'll note that there are plenty of celebs who manage to have highly successful careers while avoiding the tabloid spotlight. Tom Hanks is a good example: you rarely see disparaging or titillating articles about him, in part because he lives a clean (read: boring, to the tabloids) life, and in part because he doesn't invite them just to boost his own publicity. I've seen it asked, why does (such and such celeb) go to that place when they know the paparazzi are always there? Well... BECAUSE they know the paparazzi will be there, of course . Those who want to avoid the off-duty limelight, avoid those places like the plague.Finally, some celebs have decided to fight fire with fire. Brad and Angelina, rather than have the paparazzi tripping over each other and going to all kinds of lengths to scoop each other and be the first to have photos of their first new baby together, quite famously had their own photos taken, and then sold them to People Magazine and Hello! Magazine (with the proceeds going to charity, of course). With no scoop to be had, the mad frenzy of paparazzi was quelled - sure, other mags still wanted their own pictures, but there was no long that crazy GOTTA BE THE FIRST!! madness that drives photographers to hide in trees and mob (or chase) vehicles.
