Why do some people not want children?
59 years old and grateful daily that I don’t have children. Had a crappy childhood and would never want to put anyone through that. Didn’t want to raise a child alone and that’s what I watched all my girlfriends do. Didn’t want the expense or the commitment. Don’t see the worlds future as stable. Have seen the human population graphs, they are terrifying. I can stay in bed all day and read when I feel like it. Don’t have anyone coming home pregnant or divorced. Don’t have some loser child I have to bail out constantly. My time, energy and money are mine to dispose of as I please. I can choose the people I allow in my life. I can choose the people I don’t allow in my life.
Why do girls want children?
Women are biologically programed to want kids due to the fact that in ancient times, those who did not want kids died out, but those that wanted kids procreated.
Why do people choose to have children?
Let's face it, anyone would be better off financially, career wise, and time wise if they did not get themselves or anyone else pregnant. Having children is very expensive, takes up a ton of your time, forces you to have to buy bigger houses, bigger cars, etc. etc. etc. I find it amazing how much pressure families put on young couples to reproduce and give them grandchildren. Imagine for a moment a married couple who simply makes a choice to NOT become parents. They can both have careers where they can earn good money because they have a lot of free time to devote to their career. Once you get off work, you can come home to a QUIET Comfortable and STRESS FREE home where you can enjoy a glass of wine or listen to some soft relaxing music. The couple can also have a lot of opportunity to enjoy a healthy sex life using birth control. They can enjoy a secure financial life because 2 adults do not require the financial output that a couple with kids must provide. In turn, the couple could devote their time and energy to becoming top players in their careers and both earn a decent income so take that income and imagine two productive, educated adults both with good jobs... Imagine the life they could have, the places they could go together, the fun they could have, the cars, houses, vacations, EARLY RETIREMENT and Luxury. Etc. etc. etc. All you have to do is simply NOT have a child and your life expenses drop to like 1/6 what a couple with a child will have to pay out and save over their lifetime. Even at 21 they are not free, many children today still live at home with their parents into their late 20's early 30's!!! College is becoming more and more expensive and LESS and LESS valuable in the real world of jobs and experience. Seriously?? Why do so many people apparently not realize that having a child is a CHOICE. You do not have to have kids just because you got married!! I also find it interesting that so many married couples actually believe that having a child somehow makes marriage EASIER.... Are you kidding me??? Having a child puts DOUBLE the strain on a marriage!!! Please don't post any answers in regard to RELIGION.. Please... Give us some REAL reasons not religious nonsense about how we are all "Suppose to reproduce because the bible tells us to.." I mean COME ON people...
What do you think of men who don't want children?
Depends on the woman and what she wants out of life. My husband and I agree on not having children (at least intentionally). I don't see how this decision is 'selfish'. If a person has a child because they WANT a child...doesn't that make them 'selfish'. They're getting what they WANT, right? So why shouldn't we non-parents get what we want? I, personally, think there are too many people in the world as it is. We're eventually going to run out of room and resources to support human life. So I'm doing my part to be "green" - I'm not having kids. So HA!...who's being selfish now? Destroying the world just so you get what you WANT? Curtain climbers, rugrats, ankle biters? Of course, that's not my reason for not having children. Just a good argument for those who think not having children is selfish. It's not that I don't like kids. It's just that there are many things I want out of life that I cannot accomplish if I had kids. Keep strong. Mrs. Right is out there somewhere.
Nihilists and/or Atheists: Do you want children?
I am childless by choice. Thankfully I was born in a country, a time in history that permits this CHOICE. The world is running amuck in humanity. I will not add to it. I will leave no progeny to suffer the future. The purpose of human life is to leave the world in a better place by not reproducing. To help prevent pain & suffering of those that are hindered by species, politics, afflictions. An atheist is merely one who believes not in theism. A theist believes in a doctrine proported by an organized religion. I think therefore I am an atheist. A nihilist is one who dispises the human species, which in general I do as they/we are a plague upon the planet. How can one not be when genocide, sadism, neglect, persecution, The Holocaust(s) current & past remain unlearned from?
