Why Do I Cry When I Sing

Why do I cry when I sing?

I remember being as young as 5 years old and trying to sing.Although I couldn’t sing half as good as I do now, I would still sing and sing and sing, all the time. And all the time, this would happen:Tears would slowly roll down my cheeks, no matter what I sang. Every. Single. Time.I could have been singing a random song, not emotional whatsoever, and tears would fall off. When I was growing up I never saw it as strange…Until my friends pointed it out and then everyone else who saw me sing.…Fast forward now, it’s been 15 years maybe, and this “secret talent” has gone down a bit, and I don’t always cry when I sing. It’s still a mistery to me, as why this happens.I was just researching this subject prior to writing this. I discovered many theories for this matter:There’s a physical issue, as in the sinuses of the nose are sensitive, and the vibration of the bones, while singing, is transfered to the tear duct of the eyes. Consequently we cry.The other theory, the more spiritual one, says that singing for some people is such a deep thing, that it touches hidden parts of your soul. Therefore one cries while doing it.Another theory says that singing (a song specifically) subconsciously reminds us of a past event in our life, that we associate with melancholy. That’s why we cry.So far, I haven’t found a legitimate scientific explanation, other from these three.Being a spiritual person myself, I tend to believe the two last theories more. What about you?
