Why Do I Hate Skylar White From Breaking Bad

Did anyone hate Walter White in Breaking Bad?

That's the beauty of the show. You can't help but love him, but you can't help but hate him for what he did either. You start out by feeling sorry for him, loving him for his passion of Chemistry, and his unwanted encounter with cancer. Then you start appreciating his desperation, his self-righteousness and him standing up for Jesse and in the face of drug-dealers. You start thinking - hey, he's just a good guy in a bad situation. He's doing it for his family. Then things start heating up. Lives are put in danger, he starts relishing small successes. He forgets often that cooking was simply a means to an end. His cancer may be going away - why does he still have to continue then? His wife leaves him. He lies, deceits, gets involved in things way beyond what he initially signed up for. His greed and addiction get the better of him. Innocents die. He starts going down a path which leads to him to alienating his family, friends and everyone elseIn a final act - he runs away. But only to come back in a last act of vengeance and atonement for his past sins. His family at a distance and taken care of, his pseudo-son - Jesse - finally relieved from his sordid state, he dies of circumstances which were his own doing. If not a happy, but a satisfied man. It's hard not to hate him. It's also not hard to understand him either. Which makes us love his character even more.

Breaking Bad (TV series): Why is Skyler White so irritating?

Spoiler AlertI blame poor writing and the lack of female writers on the Breaking Bad staff. Skyler White's character is making decisions which are so annoying and so unconvincingly stupid that it seems that the writers simply don't know what to do with her. Among them are: Engaging in an open affair while she knows (or she suspects) that her husband is becoming a dangerous drug criminal.Threatening this man (who, BTW, has cancer as well as is becoming the sociopath he likely always was) with the loss of his family.Attempting to injure herself (her plan being to...have herself committed to a mental health facility?)Involving herself into the drug trade , a realm where she has no experience, nor talents.Stealing from this same manMaking herself less appealing, both emotionally and sexually to a man who is growing more dangerous and more wealthy by the episode. Why Walter hasn't replaced Skyler emotionally or sexually with another female companion (or companions) seems to be more a conceit of the writers, than an actual and logically progression of the narrative.I suspect that if there were more female writers on the BB staff that Skyler's actions would become more nuanced and would reflect her position as a woman in danger who needs to protect herself and her family

Why do Breaking Bad fans hate Skyler?

I think there are two ways to look at this — Skyler the character and Anna Gunn the actress. The Skyler character doesn't come off as loving or particularly loyal. We find her at the beginning of the series not working and selling junk on eBay while poor Walt is working two soul-crushing jobs. She is nice enough, making him pancakes with a bacon “50” on them for his birthday, but otherwise is mailing it in relationship wise, checking her eBay account while gratifying him later that night. Now, one can say many of the female characters in “Breaking Bad” are unlikeable, true, but then comes in the acting. Characters like Jane Margolis and Lydia have issues but are so well played that we kind of like them.On the “Sopranos,” wife Carmela, played by Edie Falco, is universally beloved. She also had transgressions, but the acting portrayal was so authentic that we believed in what choices the character made. For me, the issue with Gunn is that Skyler was not only wishy-washy with Walt but also Gunn the actress didn't really pull off the role. I rarely bought her presence in scenes. Now, some say that Gunn was supposed to play an unlikeable character and thus she was successful. Not quite.Gunn did little before or after “Breaking Bad” as an actress. The show certainly would have been better with someone more accomplished.Like Lydia or Jane or even Marie, we can kind of dislike the character but respect the performance.Skyler, as portrayed, just doesn't “ring true” enough.

Why did Skyler cheat on Walt on the show Breaking Bad?

I'm barely getting into the series on Netflix and I'm on season 3 and Skyler cheated on Walt. It makes me so mad!!! Is she trying to make Walt mad so he can leave? Walt sold drugs to help his family and treat his cancer. And skyler is just acting like a stupid ***** wHOre!!!!! She doesn't understand!!! I hate skyler with a passion now!!!!!!!!!

What percentage of Breaking Bad fans hate Skyler?

I hate Skyler White. I think I won`t ever be able to stand a person like that in real life. She`s too irritating to handle. She nags the hell out of Walter White. I don`t like how she`s so up-his-ass all the time. And this began even before she realized that Walt`s into the meth business. She may have tried to be the one person stopping Walt to get out of the meth-business, but clearly with a very wrong approach. And then she goes on to sleep with TED. How does cuckolding justify anything. The worst part about Skyler is how, towards the end she goes on to accept and even participate in Walt`s meth-cooking game and continues to give him a cold shoulder.Even when she herself becomes an active liar, conspirator and member of the meth-business, she continues to remain passive-aggressive towards Walt. She gets to be bitchy, naggy and gets to sleep with Ted and then goes on to be the beneficiary of every single penny that Walt has earned with so much struggle. Not fair. But the fact that she`s so annoying, bitchy and choleric, just like the directors wanted the fictional character to be, goes on to show how amazing an actor Anna Gunn is. I hate Skyler but I love Anna Gunn.

What did you think of the Breaking Bad Finale?

Yes, Season 5, episode 16. I was going to ask this before but I think it's been long enough so as not to spoil it for anybody.

I don't think Walter White should've died but at least the manner of how he died opens the way to him somehow (and miraculously) being revived to make a spin-off movie or show (though that's a one in a million shot anyway).

Even though he deserved it I still thing they should've carried this on one more season. Your thoughts?

Breaking Bad: Why is Walter seen as the bad guy?

Walter is the bad guy, that's why the shows called breaking bad. Walt is literally breaking bad. Nobody is bashing Walter, ya Walter is the bad guy but the plot is completely based around that. The direction of the story is based around the premise of what a sane good moral person could do, when backed against the wall. Skylar is a *****, it's what the director wanted to do with the character. I'm pretty sure the show conveyed the message that skylar is indeed a *****, pretty well.
