Why Do I Have A Flat Spot On The Crown Of My Head

Why do i have a flat spot on my head?

Human heads come in a variety of shapes as well as sizes. There are a few things that can influence skull shape, but those have to occur in infancy as a rule, while the skull bones are still not joined and are rather malleable. In ancient times, I think it was the Maya who liked to shape heads with flat spots, and they tied boards around baby heads to make that happen. Yours is located in the flatter area of the skull anyway, and is probably just a variation of normal. You just notice it more, that's all. It obviously hasn't affected the contents any, so you don't have a problem. If you like, you can look around at some of the heads out there not so well covered with hair- babies, old men, and the fellows who shave their heads will give you a pretty good idea of how much variation there is in head shapes. Some of them really do look better with hair, or at least would look better if hair grew on them. Just be happy yours is, or you might discover other features that you disliked even more.

Why is the crown of my head not round?

Many people have a tuft of hair that grows in a direction different from that of the rest of the hair. Most people are born with their cowlicks due to parents that were fats food carnivores as oppose to healthy eaters. cow licks come from bad nutrition whether it be the fault of the parent or not is needless to say, it could be the kid never wanted to eat his vegetable. Vegetables are important stops cow-licking.The other thing it could have some from is radiation if a person had xray at some point in their life means a gene was damaged or was destroyed and cowlick was the result.. People that suffer hair from chemotherapy or other illness may be horrified to discover that a new cowlick pattern will emerge along with their regrowth of their hair.

No one is exempt from the dreaded cowlick. Lots of famous people have cowlicks. Famous beauty, super model Claudia Schiffer, is reported to have not one, but two cowlicks at the front of her hairline.
forget about hair waxing electrolysis or plastic surgery when their cowlicks caused them too much trouble or threatened their images. You will look like Frankenstein later in life and you will regret it whole heatedly. Yo may even want to kill yourself you did not look before you lept. plastic surgery is no option for anyone. Doctor say so because they want your money! they never tell you the end results and horrors you will see later on after any kind of plastic surgery just ask Sybil Shepard...anyone the suggest plastic surgery to yu wants you dead and are not your friend!!

Why is the crown of my head tender to touch?

I understand about not washing your hair everyday. I'm half black too and some of my friends don't understand that my hair doesn't get as greasy as theirs. Truth be told i only wash my hair 2 a week *sighs*

Anyways if you straighten your hair that could be the reason. I've had a tender crown too and found out it was because i was using my flat iron to much.
Also if you like to tie your hair up really high that could be the problem or that you tie you r hair up to tight.
If you had a tough knot stuck in your hair that could be the reason.
Sorry other than those three reasons i have no idea.

Why do I have a soft spot on the back of my head as an adult?

the question I have is, is it new, or have you always had it? if it is new, you clearly need to seek medical advice.if you have always had it, and it is in line with your eyes, it is your posterior fontenelle, somehow never having closed. if it is very small, and never bulges, likely there is nothing you need to do about it.But, if it is larger than, say, a finger tip, painful, bulging, or if you are concerned in any way, you should seek medical attention. if you have just noticed it, and you are not sure if it is new, consider it new. I would bring it up to my regular doctor and ask her, or his, advice.note: I cannot give medical advice. this is just my opinion of what I would do. medical advice can only be obtained from a doctor that you see in person.

My head shape is abnormal! (flat)?

Unfortunately at this point in time, I doubt there's any ways to correct this. There might be a cosmetic surgery option, but it would be risky. At 13 though, the bones of the skull are pretty much fused--it would be major surgery to move them. I'd suggest playing around with hairstyles to see what you can do to minimize the effect of it.

Luckily, this would have no impact on your IQ.

When feeling my head it’s obvious that I have a flat spot on the back of my head as well as the top. I am worried that a female would be turned off by this. Is this true?

In the first moments you meet someone 99% of how you feel about them is based upon their looks. But after they open their mouth and start talking your basis of how you feel about them starts to include how you feel about what they say and what they think and after you have known someone for a long time how you feel about them has little to do with looks but in actual fact is mostly based on what they do and how they interact with others. If you think about walking into a room full of strangers strait away you notice peoples looks…..who looks odd and who looks amazingBut if you walk into a room full of people you know the last thing on your mind is how people look ….You more often gravitate towards people you like and that is based on who they are inside.First impressions although important…..are just that….the first impression. After that moment is gone then its the impression you make by who you are inside and how you think and how confident you are and how you treat others that is important….. Looks dont last forever so if you base a relationship on them …Then eventually it will fail.Work on how you interact with others. Work on your life goals and how you will achieve them. If you have none …Help someone else achieve theirs… And in the process of doing that you will meet people you would have never met that are interesting and have substance. If you just hang around people that do nothing except look pretty you will get bored real quick.Seriously……Noone cares about the flatspot on your headThey are either way more interested in who you are as a person OR they are more worried about what you think about the flatspot on their head.

I am 14 years old and have a flat spot in the back middle of my head. Is that a problem and can it be fixed?

Do you sleep like that? On you back? That might be why it's flat. If it's your hair, sure. It can be trained as some curls can be. Some parts can be diverted even if you have had the same part for years. You can also use a round brush with a blow dryer to fluff it up. If you are young , your hair textures might change. I used to have a natural curl where you say your flat spot is .It straightened out all on its own.

Why are the backs of Asian babies' heads flat?

I believe it is cultural. I can’t speak for other Asian countries, but flat-headed babies (who grow into adults) are commonly seen in China, especially rural areas of northern China. It saddens me to say that in many cases it is a deliberate choice made by the parents. Flat-backed heads were believed to bring you good luck, making your face and head seem fuller, which was a sign of future prosperity (福相,fu xiang). They were also supposed to be attractive on girls, complementing the hairstyles of past times (Makes you look more balanced if you have a large bun on the back of your head. Ancient Chinese people never cut their hair in their life.). So parents would lie the baby’s head on something hard and tirelessly turn them to face-up position every time they turned their head to the side. They would do this until the baby could roll over by themselves, in the hope that their child will be lucky in their future lives. There are even head-immobilizing baby pillows designed especially for this purpose.I’m Told Why Chinese People Have Flat HeadsIt is a stupid and damaging superstition. Thankfully it does not induce any brain damage, but it may result in posture problems, and also makes it difficult to wear any kind of helmet. To quote my Chinese roommate:I hate my parents for doing this to my head! And they expect me to be grateful for the “beautiful flat head” as a result of their efforts! Now I have to spend thousands of dollars each year on hair salons, just to hide the ugly shape of my head!Thankfully the new generation hates this, and the babies of today usually have a natural head shape. Beauty standards of modern China have flipped completely, and now a narrow face with a long, pointy chin is the ideal, especially for women (not that it’s any better, but that’s another topic). But some grandparents will still insist that newborn babies go through this “head-flattening” training process, because that’s how things have always been, and they are afraid that something bad will happen if it’s not done. Hopefully this twisted tradition will die out soon.

I hate how my hair sits flat on my head & shows the shape of my skull, can you help?

What's that spiral on top of your head called?

its called the crown of your head. seriously, not taking the piss. some people have two crowns and therefore have two spirals on their head.
its the point from which your hair grows outwards, obviously your head is covered in holes that the hair grows out of but they start from the middle of the spiral and work their way out.
a double crown has clearly two places hair grow outwards from making it a hairdressers nightmare to cover

a cowslick is generally a patch of hair at the front of the head, just above the forhead that sticks out permanently, like you could surf on it. they arent really sure why it happens but they think its may be due to inbreeding (not recent but ancient times)
