Why Do I Have A Line On My Computor Screen

Why does my computer have green lines on the screen?

You have a problem with the screen.  Alongside the edge of the screen were are wires going out to driver IC's, really fine-pitch PCB wires, like 120 to 240 per inch.  One or more of the wires has become detached, or one or more of the driver IC lines has gotten stuck on. Sometimes you can press lightly along the side of the screen and momentarily "fix" the problem.   If that helps. you can stick a broken-off popsicle stick between the screen and the surround to keep some pressure on it all the time.   The only other way to fix it is to replace the screen.   Fortunately you can find replacement screens on eBay for most computers, for under $100 quite often.   Any computer repair shop can install it for $50.

Computer Screen Lines ?? ? ?

Those lines is how your computer draws a picture onto the screen. The picture on your CRT monitor is drawn line by line, but at a speed so fast, you can't tell with your eyes alone, except for maybe some barely noticeable flickering at a lower 60hz. But when you take a picture, those lines show up since you've pretty much stopped time in the picture.

HOWEVER, if you had a flat screen LCD monitor, they don't use this technique to draw the screen. they actually use a liquid, so there's no lines and no flicker with a flat screen LCD.

If you want a pciture of your desktop, here's what you do:

Press "Print Screen" on your keyboard. This will "copy" your screens image. Then, Open up your favorite paint program and select "paste". This works the same as copy/paste for words. You can then edit teh image and send it via email to your friend. :)

Why does my computer screen have red lines?

You get the lines because you're in VGA mode and your computer and video card aren't meshing well.Boot into safe mode, right click on my computer.Go to device manager and uninstall your video card (display adapter). Be sure to note the type you have.Start up normally, go to your desktop and adjust your resolution to something normal (800x600, 1024x768, etc)The lines should now go away--if not, the problem might be your display (monitor). You can also download and install the latest drivers for your video card.Windows Update may also solve this issue.

How do you fix lines on a computer screen?

In my experience, lines on a screen are always hardware; usually caused by a faulty LCD panel, or a faulty graphics chip.Either way it'll be a relatively expensive job.If this is a Desktop computer (PC) this will either require a replacement flat panel screen or graphics card. Either if yhese can be picked up quite cheaply. Certainly possible for under £50 .If its a PC laptop, depending on the screen, the screen can be replaced for around £80-£150.If its the graphics chip on a laptop, it’ll mean a replacement motherboard or a graphics chip repair (reball). This can be anywhere from £150-£400 depending on the laptop. If it is a Macbook (after 2012), replacing the screen will be £250–£350 depending on model. Replacing the logic board will be £300–400.For an iMac - anywhere from £400–800 depending on model for both. Hope you have Applecare! Finally, as its a hardware issue and if the screen is not cracked, it may be under warranty if its less than a year old. This will be a warranty issue.£=$ if you're in the US

Weird Lines all over my Computer Screen??

No virus
the problem can be narrowed down to these

1. Monitor problem(as you said monitor iam assuming its a desktop)
check monitor; Remove VGA cable(blue in color) from the back of CPU/Chassis/box coming from the monitor. Power on the monitor and not the computer/cpu/chassis . If monitor does not show any lines and says that cable not connected or shows some menu as no input then monitor is probably fine. Reattach VGA cable. Power on the computer and press or tap F2/Del key to get in to BIOS settings. Once you have entered Bios check if you see any lines or colors if not monitor is fine.
2. video driver/card problem
Restart computer press/tap F8 key till you reach a screen that says safe mode, safe mode with networking etc on a black screen. Select Safe mode and hit enter. Dont worry if you see everthing is in enlarged form, it just means that your computer is running with your mother board integrated video and not the add on video card itself.
do you see lines now. No , your motherboard is fine, could be a problem with either video card drivers or video card
Reinstall video card driver. Control panel> system> select hardware tab>device manager> select your video card (display adapter) right click on it and install video card rivers.
Make sure if you do not have a video card, you have installed Video drivers for your motherboard from the CD that you got when you bought your computer. Dont tell me that you dint get it , everybody gets its and then they forget about it,
Remove video card Manually from CPU chassis and check if you still receive lines. if no, video card could have gone bad

3. motherboard(integrated video) , very rare
If you see lines in BIOS or F8 screen then probably motherboard has gone bad.

4. no high voltage appliance near monitor(vacuum cleaner, hair blower etc)

You can also check for monitor problems if you have an extra monitor or laptop, just connect VGA/DVI cable to laptop or extra monitor and check.
press Fn+f8 for laptop display
reply if any prob.

There's a line through my computer screen, how do I get rid of it?

Restart ur computer and get into the BIOS. check if the line is there also. then plug in an external monitor into the VA connector of the system and check if the line appears there also.

If in both the cases, there is a line, then the problem is with the video card. if the line is only seen on the notebook display, then the problem is with the built-in screen, which means you will need to get the screen replaced, or get a new monitor. Check ur warranties.

If the video card is found to be the problem, then depepnding on the video card (on-board or extendible) it will need to be replaced. Again, check ur warranties for any free service.

How do I get rid of the green line on my computer screen?

I have a very thin vertical green line on my computer screen. It is due to the monitor since it is not present if I plug in to my old monitor. How do I get rid of it? Thanks

When you record a computer screen, why is there lines?

Those are called refresh lines. Computer screens refresh the image on the screen approx 60 times a second. Well, since most video cameras record at the same rate, you see the middle of the refresh.

Why is there a white line on the screen of my laptop?

I have seen this in some of my friends laptops and monitors. Try the following:Reconnect and turn the computer back on. Look for the lines at boot up: if you see lines before Windows loads, the problem is either with the video card, the video connection cable -- whether HDMI or VGA -- or the monitor itself. ... Right-click on the Desktop once Windows loads and choose “Screen Resolution.”Change the resolution just to see if the line still appears. If it does, it's the video card.If more lines appear, it's the screen or the Wiring behind the screen. One other test… if you have an external monitor, hook it up to your computer and see if lines appear on the external monitor.. if yes, it's the video card.Hope this helps
