Why Do I Hear This Sort Of Knocking In My Head When I Lie Down

Why do I hear a loud knocking in my sleep right before I wake up?

Sometimes when I am sound asleep I will be dreaming and suddenly I can hear a very loud knocking or pounding ..look if someone is at my door. I will wake up quickly and go check ,only to find that no one is there. What might cause this?

If you have schizophrenia, what does it mean if you hear knocking at your door, and no one is there? You also hear someone calling your name, but no one is there.

The term “schizophrenia” has no real meaning. It is a label used to control the behavior of those someone else doesn’t like, usually with experimental neurotoxins, and often against the person’s will. The experiences you are having, like hearing your name called when no one’s there is real, and might not be a big problem. If this doesn’t incapacitate you in any way, I’d just ignore it. But if it keeps you from sleeping and/or leading an otherwise normal life, whatever that means, you may need to find the cause and deal with it.I heard a group of people who weren’t there whispering about me. I couldn’t make out what they were saying, but knew they were criticizing me. Where ever I went, I heard these voices—I could not escape them. Did a dentist put a radio receiver in a filling?I fortunately, after 8 years in and out of the hospital 7 times, found an excellent psychotherapist, a Ph D psychologist, who told me that my voices were created by my subconscious to make me feel more important after rejections. She suggested that whenever I heard voices, I should take it as a signal, check out where in my life I felt rejection, and do work on that. Following her advice, the voices tapered to zero over a two year period.I am not saying that this is the cause of your voices, but relating my experience to give you some ideas.Hearing voices happens in 10% of the population. It is fairly common. Here are reasons why some people believe they hear voices:Biological: neurodiversity, disease, heredity, etc.Trauma: bereavement, way of coping, etc.Stress Response: to the noise/activity of the world, etc.Sensitivities: food/environmental allergies, etc.Supernatural: aliens, ghosts ESP, etc.Spirituality: shamanism, spiritual emergence, etc.If you need more information, please contact me.

Why do we hear the sound of our pulse when we rest our head on a pillow?

Image courtesy: Studyblue.com Your carotid artery and jugular vein are in close proximity to your ear drum (aka Tympanic membrane, is great conductor of sound) and what you are hearing is the pulse of blood through the vessels. You can get dehiscence, high riding jugular bulb, variant vessels, etc that can increase this sound in some people. Also high blood pressure and anxiety can increase the sound.Image courtesy:  Drugs.com

Can you knock someone out by simply hitting them over head like in the movies?

In the movies, being “knocked out” is no big deal, medically speaking. A character can be knocked unconscious by anything from a single punch from the hero, to being hit on the crown of the skull with a metal object like a shovel blade or fire extinguisher, to a falling coconut. The concussed character will usually not bleed, have broken bones, swelling, or even bruises afterward. They just fall peacefully asleep, and stay that way for a few minutes to several hours, fully awakening when it is narratively appropriate, without any further ill effects, but perhaps a quip such as “anyone get the license plate of that truck that hit me ?”All of this is ridiculously unrealistic. If you hit someone in the head with anything, including your fists, feet, elbows, knees, etc, it is possible to give them a very severe injury. If you hit them in the head with an object made of something hard like wood or metal, such as a stick or the butt of a gun, you are likely to break bones and/or cause bloody wounds. If someone loses consciousness from an injury, it is very serious. If they remain unconscious from that injury for more than a few seconds, they may die or have permanent brain damage. If they regain consciousness, they will be dizzy, disoriented and confused. It’s paradoxically harder and easier to knock someone out in real life than in the movies. I've seen guys get hit with baseball bats and stay on their feet, and I've seen people get slapped to the ground. It's possible to knock someone out by hitting them in the head with something, like in the movies, but what happens once you do is very different, and the consequences could end up being very serious for everyone involved. There are a lot of people who have gotten in bar fights and ended up dead or in comas, or accidentally committed manslaughter.

Why does one of my knees sound like popping corn when I bend or straighten it?

There are many reasons why the knee can click and pop.  Sometimes the answer to this question can be totally benign or times more serious.  A meniscal tear will click - pop but most likely also catch / lock at a specific point when you are bending and straightening your knee.  Also there is a condition in which a meniscus may be abnormally shaped known as discoid meniscus that causes audible popping. Arthritic issues can cause your body to lay down  excess bone within or near joint surfaces that can cause excess friction. There are a number of more benign causes such as muscle groups around the knee that can become aggravated by inflammation and partial tears along insertion sites.  Common examples are iliotibial band friction syndrome,  snapping biceps femoris (ham string) over its insertion site of the fibula.

Clicking noise in head while walking what is it?

Hi,

Hope You and family are fine.

There can 2 things.

1. Tinnitus : Best described as an acoustic like feeling generated somewhere in the human body. Objective Tinnitus can be heard by the patient and the by the examiner. It may be caused by spasms-like movement of the small bones in the middle ear, spontaneous movement of the soft palate and sometimes by sounds generated in the cochlea (where the hearing nerves are located.) Subjective tinnitus is best defined as an acoustic-like sensation that is heard only by the patient and not by anyone else. Its cause lies somewhere in the auditory system.

But it should be persistant, in Your case I its not persistent and only occur while You are walking then it may be SEISMIC EFFECT, That is walking itself produces a jarring motion that may create movement of the small bones or contractions muscles in the middle ear.

In order to test this hypothesis, consider doing the following: I) Walk slowly (with minimal jarring) and determine if the clicking sensation is present. 2) Then walk at your normal pace and determine if the clicking returns. 3) Move head up and down slowly and notice if the clicking is absent or present. 4). Then, vigorously, move your head up and down and determine if the clicking sound returns.

Another suggestion is to do the following: If you use hearing aids, take them off and then walk a brief distance and see if the clicking occurs. Put them on and follow the same procedure. If there is no clicking when the hearing aids are not worn, and it is present when they are, it is quite possible that the seismic effect is causing the problem.

At any rate, what you are describing does not appear to be a harbinger of something that should be of great concern. However, if it is a constant concern, by all means consult an ear specialist.

A word of caution: Regardless of the cause of the perceived sound, even though it is benign, constant, negative attention to that sound can create emotional disturbance. If a medical examination finds no evidence of a physical or medical problem, then be assured the clicking sound offers no threat to the quality of life.

Hope that answers Your question.

Warm regards,

Tanvir.

Why do people get knocked out after getting hit on their head?

The quick introduction of motion after a hit to the head causes trauma to the brain that knocks the recipient out, leaving him unconscious. At the moment of the blow, the head quickly accelerates. After a fraction of a second, it quickly decelerates as muscles, tendons, and bones prevent the head from moving any further. The brain accelerates slower than the rest of the head because it is floating in fluid inside the skull. This forces it to crash into the inside of the skull when the motion of the head ceases. When the brain slams into the inside of the skull, it suffers trauma. It then bounces off the inside of the skull and slams into the opposite side, causing even more trauma. Depending on the force of the hit, this can happen several times before the brain comes to rest inside the skull. The trauma to the brain stimulates an overwhelming number of neurotransmitters to fire at the same time. This essentially overloads the nervous system, sending it into a state of temporary paralysis. The person who is hit in the head loses consciousness and his muscles relax. This results in the injured person falling@ to the ground with no memory of being hit.

Why does my head make a hollow sound?

when i was at my friends house, i hit my head on a piece of wood. when it hit, i heard a sound like a knocking on an empty object. my friends heard it too and and all three of them kept laughing and saying i have a tiny brain. I know they were kidding and they are good friends, but still, i went home that night, i kept knocking my head around. every time i hear the same hollow empty sound. i do get D's in school, but i am thinking my brain has shrunk and is too small to fit in my head. why does my head sound so hollow, am i stupid, be honest.

Knocking sound in engine and car sounds like a diesel truck?

Common Symptoms:

Exhaust manifold leak (sounds like like a leak but when the vehicle warms up it seals itself)

Rod Knock (bad history of oil changes, blown head gasket) Inside of engine hits the walls( replace the car)

or simple loose pulley

My son knows quite a bit about cars, but he said if he could hear the noise , he could better tell you what it is. He said there is a long list of things that could be wrong. He said if you have to take it in to have someone look at it, Make sure you get multiple quotes and diagnosis because most mechanics see dollar signs when diagnosing the real problem. I hope this helps, Good Luck!
