Why Do I Keep Dreaming That I Work In A Book Store

Is opening a bookstore a good idea?

I am considering opening a bookstore. I love books and think I would enjoy this type of business. However, I have never run my own business before. I am a single mother with some college background in business. Can a bookstore be profitable? Can it be done, since I am a single mother with three kids or is that a long stretch? Also, the town I live in is very small, but there are no bookstores within 1 1/2 hours. Do you think I should make a go of this or chalk it off to wishful thinking?

My dream is to work at a bookstore or library?

I'm 16 years old and I love books to death. I have stacks and stacks and I spend about 2 hours reading daily(weekdays, more on weekends). The thing is though that people seem to have a problem with this because it seems like I'm underachieving. I don't want to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or famous or filthy rich. I just want to be happy and comfortable and be surrounded by what I love, which is books. I volunteer at a library and I love the daily operations of it: checking in/out books, running computers, helping people find what they need, talking to patrons, recommending books to people, seeing people reading and enjoy books, shelving, classifying, logging, etc. I love being able to dispense knowledge. I think I do have potential to do more but I'm just not interested. I think I'm a pretty decent person when it comes to intelligence but I'm not interested in working hard in school anymore. I used to have really good grades but they've dwindled away after going through some really harsh things recently. My life is generally okay now but I think I've found deeper meaning in education and learning and happiness. Day to day acedemia just doesn't interest me anymore. Do you think a career as a librarian or owning/managing a bookstore will still be prevalent in the future (with ebooks being popular and all). How should I go about realizing this dream of mine? Thank you!

I keep dreaming about kissing guys that aren't my boyfriend?

As you said before "but i can't cuz im in a devoted relationship. the thing is, in the dreams, im not cheating, its just like im single and i like a guy, so i kiss him"

If you are in a devoted relationship, this should probably mean you are committed to be with you bf and you really want this to work out..right?
Well, just think. Do you still have the same feelings you had from the start with your bf? Are things working out between you two?
Think about it, have a talk with you bf,, tell him how you feel.
If you do love your bf. then tell him how you feel.

Since, you want to experience... "the kiss is great, and its wat i want to happen in real life,".
Basically its life, just try to shake off those dreams, don't worry to much.

should I do anything?
As i said before, just talk it out with you bf and tell him how you feel about him, and if you feel what you tell him is true in your heart. Then enough with the kissing scenes your dreams!! (lol)

Well good luck.

I keep having dreams of being back in high school?

your unsure about life, your life, and high school was so simple and easy, and carefree. I mean you may not realize it but you may have had the same stresses and worries the 1st year of high school but you adapted. Alot of people take a year or more off from college to think it thru, I did. After my break I only went partime. Now I am 24 and I am desperate to graduate like tomorrow, but I have to do 2-3 more years atleast. You have to realize sweetie, that in life there are phases. High school was a phase, and a sweet memory that you dont ever have to forget. A career is a long term phase, whatever career path you choose is going to affect your life. What you do to prepare for that career path, college, is going to affect how you live your life. Stay in school sweetie. if you can dedicate four years to high school you can do it for college.

if you are not sure what you want to do, thats fine. the first two years or so of college are your general requirements, the last two have to do with your major. Think about what you like doing and what you want to do. For example I am the queen of indecisiveness... I just decided this year what I wanted to do. I love children and people and politics and I want to make the world a better place My major is sociology with a minor in political science. I want to work in public service with the state to improve living conditions for people develop programs that will support that , and eventually go into politcs to do more. Believe me I bounced around a lot. what really put that into perspective is a personal issue I had going on in my family, I saw how someone close to me treated their children and I knew that I did not want that for anyone. that started the thinking process and from there I developed it over time so dont worry about some light bulb going off in your head saying thats it thats the one cause its not.

I keep having a reoccuring dream and am wondering what the meaning behind it is?

SInce i was a little girl I have been having a dream that i am outside of my grandpa's work shop. I am laying on a bence completely naked, and this old man with hair all over his face starts rubbing lotion on me. After he lathers my whole body with lotion, he starts beating me to a pulse. I wake up every time right before i loose conshisnus (spelling). But for years i was a little girl in my dream. And now my dream is of me at this age. The dreams terrifies me everytime i have it, and i want to know if there is reasoning behind it. If you could please help me out that would be greatly appreciated

I keep having dreams about the guy I like, is this normal?

This is the 3rd night in a row that I've dreamed about him, and every single time I wake up feeling so happy, and smiling. :)
The first night, in my dream I was preforming with Taylor Swift at a concert and I saw him in the crowd, and ran off stage into the crowd and jumped into his arms and we kissed. (He LOVES Taylor Swift, hahaha)
The second night I remember that I apparently was in a soccer game and the final score was 2-0 and I scored both points and he was SO proud of me. The thing is, I DON'T play soccer at all, he's the one that plays soccer. Definitely not me. And then afterwards we went for a walk and ended up getting in his car and just kept driving, no where in particular, just driving and enjoying eachothers company and having fun together. We just drove cross country. We've actually discussed doing this in real life, which was cool since it was so vivid in my dreams.
Last night, I dreamed about him coming over to my house and begging me to come move next to him, and next thing I remember, I walked into his class and I didn't know anyone but we were assigned a project to do together during class.
He's not as experienced as I am with relationships and such, so at first he was a little timid but he kissed me when the teacher wasn't looking. It wasn't like a passionate kiss or anything, but it was probably the sweetest, cutest kiss I've ever had. (Okay, KIND OF had.) Then after that, when the teacher turned around I kissed him with more of a hotter kiss, and then after that we just went back to our work but we kept looking over and smiling at eachother, haha. After, he brought me to this ice cream place and we had ice cream together and it was just SO cute. This boy is already basically like my boyfriend, and I seriously think I'm falling for him, but I just need a little insight from another prospective.

So, like I was wondering,
#1 What do you think this means?
#2 Is this normal, and is it true that if you dream about someone, that means they were thinking about you before they went to sleep?

Thanks guys!

What is it like to own a comic book store?

I worked in a small family owned comic store for 2 years in Minneapolis.  I went from just cleaning to actually opening and closing by myself (and I was only in high school at the time.)The store moved locations 2 times (for a total of 3 locations) in the time that I worked there/kept in touch.  That's never fun.  A few ways the store made money:-New issues.  We offered discounts to people who pre-ordered.  However, many times people pre-ordered more than they could afford and literally hundreds of comics would back up.  The owner had to constantly predict what would be hot and how much to order of issues, and he was pretty good at it.- Old issues.  Some people came in to sell.  However, the owner would often go scouting.  The owner was a great negotiator when it came to paying low for comics, which is a must if you want to re-sell them.  Back issues from 60s-90s turned over pretty well, but anything older sat on the wall for a long time.- Comic conventions.  Mass selling of as much merchandise.  Pretty hard to come out that ahead, as you need to pay for the table, and there is a lot of labor that goes in to transporting the comics back and forth.Once I learned the ropes, things were great on my end.  I would sit around reading comics waiting for customers to come in.  I caught up on so much that I literally ran out of things to read.I was kind of a shy teenager, and customers were generally not known for their social skills either.  So I didn't really make friends with the customers, but I do recall constant conversations about comic book knowledge.  A few interesting things that I recall:- Occasionally we ran out of change.  My boss would make me go to the McDonald's across the street and ask for $20 in dimes or nickles.  Surprisingly, the obliged more than once.  They would get the manager, open the vault, and give me change.- There were originally 2 owners.  They did not part on good terms, and there was an accusation of theft when 1 of the owners left.- One time I invited my friends over after closing (without my boss's knowledge) so we could play M:TG.  I was in nerd heaven. Not sure what else you want to know.  It doesn't pay great, you have to be business savvy, and though the owner was a great negotiator I'm pretty sure he didn't make it through the recession in the late 00's.

Should I open a bookstore and cafe in Canada?

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question because I have the same one and I'm in the U.S.! Brooklyn, NY to be exact - there are several neighborhoods that would be ideal locations. I sell a bit online and I have a knack for accumulating nice books (not bestsellers and very popular books - too many on the market) and vinyl for low cost outlay. I don't have the funds necessary to do it but I have run into potential investors. Alas, I don't have a business plan to show them because I keep putting off doing one. I recently asked a question on Quota about advice for doing one - there is only one answer so far but it was quite helpful. I will be putting a plan together anyway, because I think it's a good idea to have one. I'm 62 and keep vacillating about whether it would be a wise thing for me to open up a store, considering all the time and hard work I would have to invest just setting it up and the long daily hours Involved. It has been a pipe dream of mine for many years though.
