Why Do I Keep Forgetting Things

I am only 19. Why do I keep forgetting things?

Hard to answer without more information, but there are at least 3 reasons that could be behind it.Distraction - not being engaged with what’s going on around you. I know someone who is a great student, intelligent, creative…and forgetful. It all stems from being engaged in his own head, thinking about things all the time and having trouble switching to listening mode. So he’ll, say, be playing a video game…you say his name…he looks at you…you say, “take out the trash”…he says “ok”…and doesn’t do it because he “forgot”. What happened was was still thinking about the game and did not really engage with the request.Stress: One of the many reactions that hit people who are going through stress is forgetting. No organic cause, just completely forgetting things - that can be as worrisome as asking someone a question you already asked them, but have no memory of doing. Weird and scary when you are experiencing, but it clears up as the stress goes away or better methods of coping with it are learned.Organic problems. There are medical conditions and reaction to some medications that can mess with memory, but as a 15 year old those probably don’t apply to you. Talk to your parents about the first two. If none of the above applies to you, you can certainly ease your mind by exploring other possibilities with your family doctor…but I highly doubt that will be needed.

Why do i keep forgetting things?

im 16 and sometimes i will be talking to my friends and then i will completely forget what we were talking about or i will forget mid sentence what i was talking about or i will rant about something and then someone will comment about a word i said like if i cursed alot or something i will be like i dont even remember saying that at all and i remember what i was talking about but i dont remember saying that word. or i will go into a room or walk out a room and completely forget why. somethimes my mom will give me a list of things i need to do and i already know to do it because she will call and remind me like a billion times and then when i tell her to leave me alone i know what to do i completely forget what she told me to do.

Why do I keep forgetting things?

Yesterday my iPod got stolen and so I'm upset, but I've noticed I keep forgetting things and repeating myself. I say the same things over and over and ill ask or tell people the same things over and over. I'm upset my iPod got stolen but I don't think my anger is interfering. Like today while at school I've been asking or telling people the same things over and over and I'll think it's the first time im telling them, but they'll ask me why do I keep saying or asking that. I'm not sick or anything, I'm a 17 year old male.

Why do I keep forgetting things?

I forget many things. I remember everything I need to have a 95+ in every sing class I take and remember almost everything that I read in a summary of details with a particular knack for remebering images. I forget names and faces like cheap dates. I used to have problems with new names but I go to such a small school that now that I haven't met new people every day like in elementary school when I was new I am fine.
As of late (2-3 months) I have been having problems remembering the names of people I have been in school with for years. I look at them and sometimes it takes me a full minute to remember their name. I don't really care because as I said I'm not good with names anyway.
Last month I couldn't remember my lunch account number and had to wait to get it of the computer to buy lunch. This Friday I was in algebra class and I couldn't remember how to use my graphing calculator to make a fracton. I have done that everyday since the beginning of school.
What should I do? Why am I forgetting everything?

Why do I keep forgetting things so much?

Memory is fueled by interest. Someone will say, "I have a terrible memory" but then they will tell me this huge story about what he said and she said and on and on like reading from a book. Its not that you can't remember, but its just that you don't care to remember it as much as you would something else. For example, if you lightly tripped one day while walking in the park, you probably wouldn't remember that event two weeks later. But if you fell and broke your leg in the park, you'll remember that for the rest of your life. So it comes down to what is important to you.

There are allot of ways to remember things, and one is using your imagination. Like if you sit your keys on a table and want to remember where you put them, just imagine the keys becoming really heavy and breaking the table in half. Where did I put my keys? Oh yeah I broke the table with them. Make it crazy and its easy to remember. If you want to remember to do something tomorrow, take something in your home and put it somewhere that is really out of place, such as putting a pot on the living room couch. The next day you'll see that pot and remember what you wanted to do.

The memory is a muscle so the more you practice the better it gets. You can look up other memory techniques and the next thing you know, you'll be impressing people with your memory instead of asking for a repeat.

I keep forgetting things, and I'm only 16?

Lately my memory has been TERRIBLE. Almost 4 times a week, I go downstairs my house at night to pick up something such as milk or an object but then totally do something else and go back upstairs without that object. Then today, I forgot that I had to wear a specific uniform for school so I had to call my mom to come all the way to school and hand me slacks and tie. Then at the end of school, I forgot my aunt was picking me up so she waited an hour for me while I was chilling with my friends... There's so much more examples and these are just a few of them!! Please... help? Any tips? Thank you!

Why Do I keep forgetting things? I'm just only 14?

Ask your guideence Consulef or Curiously ask Your Doctor,k . It's probably a faze or not getting enough sleep or breakfast

Why do i keep forgetting things lately ??

I was experiencing the EXACT same problem a few weeks ago and i went to my doctor about it. He said that their could be a number of reasons why and that it wasn't anything serious. The reasons could be:
- lack of sleep
- Not paying attention when told information
- Or stress.
So looks like your stress might be why. So take it easy and don't get stressed out over small things, and something that works really well is just going out with friends. Good luck :)

Why do i keep forgetting things?? im 20 years old?

I see where you are going with the genetic thing, but that is probably not it.

It seems you have enough going on to cause this to be worse with the death of your mom in november..........condolences........tha... alone can cause all of this.
But you said you were like this before that, so i am thinking you need to ask a doctor to check your hormones, thyroid, sex, adrenal, cortisol dheas levels and see how they are.......you could be low on estrogen, which regulates memory, etc...........hormone imbalances can also cause addictions in the long run , because people try to cope that way, etc.
So call and find a compounding pharmacy in your area, just ask, and then call them and ask them who the doctors are in your area that test and balance hormones........go there. here are some examples feelingfff.com thehallcenter.com
If you have a good doctor, then tell them your symptoms and let them decide if further testing is needed.
Here is a free healing method that may not be there after today because he is retiring at emofree.com click on 'learn eft'
I used and it really helped me.
Finally , you need support , you need to talk to others or just be supported after a parent dies, it can take four years or more to feel at all better.......it sounds like you are in a form of 'shock ' or denial or something, fairly common at first.
here are some support gouprs if you want them for all kinds of things including grief dailystrength.org
I think , too, that our energies can get messed up by other people .......but i wont go into that now.
best wishes, peace and wellness
