Why Do I Not Get Excited About Things I Use To Love

Why do I not get excited about ANYTHING in my life anymore?

ANYTHING...I'm a 21 year old girl. I'm not in college this semester, I took a break. So all I do is work, now. Work is great and all, but there's no enthusiasm in showing up somewhere I'm so used to and it's predictable what will happen. I love my coworkers but none of them care to chill outside of work, which I understand.
I go to the gym, but not lately. It's good for me, but it gets SO.....just......boring to the point where I don't care. I am naturally in good shape so I don't need it.
I need a hobby, but nothing just thinking of it gets me interested. I used to love reading, now my desire to pick up a book has faded.
HELP!!! People my age our out living their life, I'm just over here whining how I have no passion to do anything to live my life. Should I change my routine, or what? being bored makes me a boring person.

Why do women/girls get so excited over diamond rings, like from Kay's or Jared's?

i personally think Kays and Jareds are very cheap/bad quality and mass produced.

i like a family-owned jewelry shop type place best.

i agree, blood diamonds are horrible. i would NOT buy from a place that sells them.

Tiffanys is stupid b/c they sell the same type and quality of diamonds as anywhere else for like 10x the price or more! you're just paying for the brand name and once the dang thing is on your finger, no one is going to know if you got it from Tiffany's or Zales etc.

I wouldn't get a sterling silver engagement or wedding ring b/c they don't hold up as well as gold. I would just go with white gold. cheaper than platinum but just as pretty and holds up very well. I've heard platinum is very delicate and you have to do much more maintenence with it.

Do you not get excited about Christmas anymore? Why, or why do you think?

I get excited but for different reasons than when I was younger.

I can't lie, when I was a kid, I was all about presents. My brothers and I would have this unspoken competition to see who could wake up the earliest on Christmas morning and be downstairs first to sit and wait to open gifts, then we got all excited because mom would make an extra special breakfast.

Now though, I'm 25 and I get excited over the fact that all my brothers will be home for the holidays and I get to go visit other relatives in different cities. I don't mind the travel, I really don't. I also like watching all my little cousins get excited when Santa shows up after dinner (we have a costume, and every year one of the male members of the family get's recruited to play Santa and hand out gifts). Plus this year I have two little nieces to spoil!

It used to be about presents, now it's about family. I only gave my mom a list because she asked for one and I made it clear that I didn't actually EXPECT anything off of it, I was happy just knowing I'd get to see my whole family

The only thing I DON'T like about Christmas is that stores get decorations out for sale earlier and earlier each year. There was one store I was at, and they had some Christmas stuff out in JULY! That's way too early!

Is it normal that you lose your excitement as you age?

So I notice the most voted answers are vacuous traditional positive optimistic responses. That nice, but you don’t learn from them as much you just get a temporary motivational high. To appreciate the lasting good things you have to acknowledge the bad. That given you are either:1.) Depressed2.) Realizing adulthood. People don’t get boring they just realize how boring some activities really are like standing around at bars. That’s why they invest more time at work, get married, have families, or take up new hobbies.I remember a wonderful tour guide in Europe I had a drink with one night. He knew several languages, had seen every part of Europe as a professional traveler, met tons of people, and seemed overall gregarious and happy. Do you know what he said to me privately? “Its great, but I am 40, I travel so much for work that I have no roots: no home, no serious relationships, and this is all I have ever known. I envy those people with roots many nights.”In short, everything can get old and boring. The good: You are self aware and will find your new path. This might make you laugh like me.

Is there something wrong with my mind for getting excited reading incest stories?

a prof told us in a literature course that we all have some hidden desire, which is partly full filled when we read about it. He said sthg like: reading about a murder is like partly commiting it itself, but its lightyears away from doing so.
When you read incest stories so you read incest stories. Others would read about satanisme, rape or adultery. I don't see anything super extraordinary in reading incest stories and getting excited about, also because you dont want to do it in reality. It's nthg that you would tell a girlfriend in the first moments but nthg to keep a secret either.
