Why Do I Want To Work Here

Why do you want to work for McKinsey?

Not sure if this question is wondering why someone would want to work for McKinsey or trying to source fodder for the behavioral portion of a Fit interview question. Either way, here’s my 2 (3?) cents. It’s the people, the impact, and the opportunities:The people. At McKinsey and other top-notch strategy consulting firms, you work with an amazing group of smart, driven, personable and well-adjusted people. While they may sometimes seem arrogant from the outside, from the inside they’re really nice folks to be around. The impact. At these firms you get to work on the hardest problems facing the biggest companies and organizations in the world. From huge M&As to redesigning the education systems of whole countries. If you want to have impact there really isn’t anywhere better. The opportunities. Big strategy firms are hard to get into. And once you are in they train the heck out of you, both formally and informally day to day. So once you leave you can pretty much write your own ticket whether in industry, the start-up world or on your own, like me.And ps, I’ve built a website to help you get into that consulting dream job - check out our free content here: Free Content | Vocaprep

What is the best answer for "Why do you want to work for us?" when asked in an interview?

The best answer I recommend for “Why do you want to work for us?” is first to be authentic and think about why you want to work for the company. The natural inclination is to respond with the generic statement about how your skills would be a great fit for the company, etc. However, the goal is to be memorable and demonstrate that you organically connect with the company. What most companies are really looking for is to determine if you are just looking for a job or would you be invested in the organization. With that being said, First you will have to do some research on the company. This can easily be accomplished by going on their website and on their social media pages. From this, a wealth of information can be found. Think about what would be most important to the company or the industry. What kind of things are they posting? What do they seem most engaged in? An example may be that you noticed that the company posts many pictures of them volunteering in the community or the company may emphasize in their core values that safety is a priority. Both are things that you authentically care about.Armed with that information your response may sound something like this:“I noticed that ABC company is very involved in giving back to the community. This is something that demonstrates to me that the company really cares about its impact in the world and I want to be a part of that. In addition, the fact that you emphasize safety tells me that you care about your employees as much as you care about the customer. As you may see in my resume, safety is important to me as well as I was the safety captain for the past five years and would be able to bring that experience to ABC.”Which response would be more memorable for the interviewer? The standard statement or the statement that builds a connection between you and the company?I hope this helps!

Why do you want to work here? Zaxby's application?

The real answer is that there was an opening and I need a job, but I obviously can't say that on my application bc there's no way that I'd get the job that way. I've never even eaten Zaxby's. The only reason that I'm applying is because they're the only people that actually hire 15 year olds, and I want my own money.
