Why Do Jws Cherry Pick Old Isrealite Laws No Longer In Effect

What's the difference between the Old and New Testament? If the Bible says to kill gay people then why don't people these days do it? People said because that is in the Old Testament. Is this statement true? Does this invalidate the Old Testament?

What's the difference between the Old and New Testament? If the Bible says to kill gay people then why don't people these days do it? People said because that is in the Old Testament. Is this statement true? Does this invalidate the Old Testament?Don’t you know Christians eat bacon, too? Some of them even eat lobster! These are huge no-no’s in the part of the Bible you’re talking about. Christians quite explicitly aren’t bound by Mosaic Law. That law was for the original Chosen People of God - and they asked for it. Moses came down with the 10 Commandments, that wasn’t enough for them, they wanted more rules. Moses gave them more rules - that’s why it’s called “Mosaic Law.” Christians don’t follow that, it wasn’t for Gentiles. We don’t even have to get circumcised. I think you’re very confused. The difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament is that Christians aren’t held to any of Mosaic Law. The Old Testament’s not invalidated, it’s just that Christians aren’t bound to live under that law. Christians have the Ten Commandments and the two Christ gave in summation. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Love your neighbor as yourself. We’re even told explicitly that we are not to judge others, lest we ourselves be judged. Now haven’t you heard of that one? Wouldn’t you think it might curtail the judging and killing of homosexuals just a bit? And didn’t Christ himself interrupt a whole crowd of people ready to stone a woman for sexual immorality, stare them down until they all left, and tell the woman since they couldn’t condemn her, neither will he?Don’t let’s play games, here. Christ took a death penalty himself once, and then rose up again to show what he thought of it. Told us death has no power over us anymore either, if we accept that his sacrifice was on our behalf. In any case, it was real clear that we’re not here to cast the stones.Anyone digging into Leviticus (read around in there, Christians don’t do any of that, come on) for something like this, but too ignorant to even notice we eat pork is just cherry-picking. Probably only pretending to be ignorant, in the service of homophobia, Christianophobia, and both.

Atheists: why choose to buy into lies rather than admit the truth?

Many of you have admitted that you wouldn't follow God even if He appeared to you personally and showed Himself real to you.

For some reason you hate God, which is clear. As unfortunate as that is I could still respect that

What I don't get is why so many atheists make up lies to support their unbelief and in an attempt to shame and belittle Christians as much as possible: From the so-called biblical support of slavery and religious intolerance to the so-called Christian led wars (btw Hitler was so not a Christian!) to creating the impression that God is immoral through your gross misunderstanding and ignorance of biblical context and to your baseless God-doesn't-exist mantra. These are all untrue/unproven yet you make the most outrageous claims and play dirty by exaggerating things or telling plain lies in order to "defeat" Christianity (I think you guys take this thing too personally?). And then all your (once again baseless) inferences about science and religion being mutually exclusive or about theists having low IQ's and bringing up your own made up definitions of faith and sin and morality (which btw cannot be relative since it's universal) etc

So why make up stuff? Why not just come out and say I don't like God and I don't want anything to do with Him? At least it's the truth and people will respect you more for that than some of the dodgy things y'all post in this section

Why is it that Christians eat bacon (forbidden by Leviticus) and disavow homosexuality (forbidden by Leviticus)?

Christian are mostly relying on the “New Testament”.There is no interdiction of pork in the New Testament. In fact, for Christians, Jesus explicitly says that there is no relevant food restriction:Mark 7:15There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.But Homosexuality is forbidden in the New Testament:Romans 1:26–27, 1 Corinthians 6:9–10, and 1 Timothy 1:9–10.Homosexuality in the New Testament - WikipediaLeviticus is full of interdiction that almost all Christian are ignoring:Tattoos and piercings are forbidden.Leviticus 19:28 "'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.Clothing made of two kinds of material are forbidden.Leviticus 19:19 "'Keep my decrees. "'Do not mate different kinds of animals. "'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. "'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material. And so on...

Is it accurate to say that Christianity is more peaceful than Islam?

Yes.Both now and historically, and it’s not even close.Propagandists have for thousands of years tried (and often succeeded) on blaming a wide variety of actions on Christians that they weren’t responsible for, and wildly inflating crimes that did occur. For example, do you know how many people died during the spanish inquisition? The great crime of Christianity? About 1,800, over 350 years. That’s a slow week for ISIS. And did you know that the inquisition actually had due process elements? And that the reason it’s the spanish inquisition is because it was a rogue element outside of the control of the Catholic church in Rome? No, you didn’t.And I’m sure you’ve heard about how the Germans killed 80,000 “witches” in the 16th century… Of course, the total records of all executions during this period of time don’t add up to anywhere near that number. Basically, those numbers are made up, taking the worst atrocities and scaling them across all of Germany.Christians were often the first voices to speak up against atrocities of all sorts. Slavery, (which never found much hold in Christian Europe, in no small part because of Christian influence), the plunder and genocide of the age of exploration, the excesses of the French Revolution? All objected too, often quite strongly, by both the Catholic church and later various protestant denominations as well. While horrible things are often done by individuals in the name of any number of religion, the leadership, structure, and body of the people have not been nearly as bloodthirsty as popular history would tell you.Christian martyrs aren’t violent men who kill, but rather those who were killed for their beliefs and the lives others, often standing against far more powerful forces. The Crusades? Sorry, but two sides to that series of wars, a series of wars started by Muslim armies which penetrated well into Europe and left destruction in their wake.Christianity, in and of itself, doesn’t create law, allows and justifies civil authority, doesn’t demand adherence at pain of death, etc. Contrast all of this to Islam.I’m not saying that Christians haven’t (individually and as groups) done horrible things. But the fact that this question even is asked shows a disturbing lack of education today.ETA: I’m not interested in debunking or debating the aforementioned propaganda in the comments. Comments to that effect will be deleted.

Why can Christians eat pork & shellfish, Muslims can eat shellfish, but Jews cannot eat either? What is the history behind this sequence?

For two of the the faiths, that is, Islam and Judaism, it is commanded to avoid certain foods. In the Torah, animals that neither have hoofs nor chew the cud, and fish without fins and scales, and certain birds, are classified as “to be avoided”. Such meat is declared tawmay (טָמֵא) or Unclean. In the Quran, consumption of dog, cat, monkey and pig meat as well as intoxicants are mentioned to be avoided, and they are declared haram (حَرَام‎‎) or Forbidden.Hence, Muslims can consume shellfish (since its not haram) while they cannot have pork. Jews can consume neither shellfish (fish without scales and fins) nor pork (pigs don't chew the cud).In the New Testament of the Bible, there are passages wherein all food has been declared “clean”. Jesus declared all foods “clean” when he said that its not what goes in to one's mouth that makes one “unclean”. The Apostle Peter saw a vision wherein he was asked to kill and eat different animals. When he insisted that they were “unclean”, he was told not to call “unclean” what God had made “clean”.Apostle Paul also taught that food presented before idols may be consumed as long as it doesn't hurt one's own conscience or weakens the faith of another.Jesus did away with the Mosaic Law, and Paul had explained that Christians have no compulsion to observe its elements (circumcision, dietary restrictions etc). Since Christ came for Jew and Gentile, alike.Christians are hence, not breaking any rule when it comes to consumption of said meat. Its only in accordance with the teachings in the New Testament that a Christian ought to eat food set before him/her after giving thanks to God, irrespective of the source of that food.
