Why Do Men Love Cars So Much

Why do men like cars so much?

I’ve never been able to figure this one out. As a man myself, I’ve always looked at cars as nothing but machines we use to get from point A to B. Nothing more, nothing less. The sound of an engine, the look and feel of the body, mean little to me.I’ve had gearhead friends who could literally talk for hours about stroke, bore, lifters, cam shafts, and torque. You could see their faces light up when they started discussing all this auto-related stuff. I’d be left in the background because it wasn’t something I cared or really even knew much about. My knowledge of cars has grown over the years and I think I’m pretty knowledgeable about the innards of automobiles, but I still don’t get excited discussing them.Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with liking cars. I’m glad there are people out there who get fascinated about cars because many of them turn out to be mechanics. For everyone else I think it’s a good hobby and since it doesn’t harm anyone, there’s nothing wrong with it.

Why do some men care so much more about cars than women do?

A Woman's PerspectiveI'm different. I LOVE cars. Fast ones. There's nothing more beautiful than a perfectly designed piece of machinery. There's nothing better than spending a day watching Mecum Auctions. Even if it's an old one I'll watch it. My other favorite shows are Chasing Classic Cars, Car Fix, Fast N' Loud, and Wheeler Dealers.I'm more into European sports cars, especially Ferraris, 60s Jaguars, Mercedes AMG, and 80s Classic European cars. I can deal with Porsches but only 959s, 930s, and 911s. I also have an affinity for Corvettes. My first car was a Datsun 280 ZX. I washed and waxed that baby every week. Rims were spotless and so was the motor. Later I got a Honda Civic Si. It had white custom alloy rims from California which was a huge deal in Georgia in the 80s. It even had a custom white racing steering wheel. I washed and waxed her every week as well. Now I have a Mercedes CLK AMG 5.5. Its engine growl is my favorite sound. The feel of a V8 underneath me is one of the greatest emotions I can ever experience. All that power under an aluminum body...Growing up my daddy had AMGs that were pre-Mercedes buy out therefore I had to have one when I became an adult. Now how did I get this way?I grew up on race tracks because my daddy raced Corvettes for 20+ years in the IMSA and SCCA endurance circuits. He put Corvettes on the map. He's the Legendary Tommy Morrison of Corvette fame and still holds the land speed record for endurance ZR-1 NET Registry - World Records. You can also read about him Corvette Legends. He passed his love on to me and it's one of the greatest gifts he could ever have given me.

Why are some men so obsessed with cars?

As Kent is saying… The automobile is a whole lot more than just a tin can with wheels and a motor. To many, it’s a status symbol, an item of “personal expression”, a fashion statement, (I heard a young woman at a dealership say, “how will I look in this car?) a sex symbol…. Let’s face it, the first sexual experience of many youngsters takes place in the family car….As well, we’ve loved motorsports for almost as long as the very first “horseless carriage” rolled out of Damlier’s garage. “Hey, how fast will that go?” So, by extension, when Vettel gets the checkered flag at an F1 circuit, we want a piece of that glory too… If we can afford a Ferrari. And make no mistake, the automotive industry plays up each and every one of these things to the max in their advertising and marketing. When did you see a truck ad that did not emphasize the power, strength, and “manliness” of the thing? Or how about the “family car” ad that didn’t emphasize safety, gear-carrying capacity, and security? And of course the high-end car ads have glamorous people doing glamorous things…. With the promise that you’ll attract glamorous women, of course.

Why do men name their cars after women ?

For the same reason they name their boats after women and because they name their peckers, too. My first husband was "Mr. Happy". Now I am married and this husband has deemed his "Stiffy". Hope that helps.

Why do guys like cars so much?

Being a guy? Cars are our unfulfilled Love. We'd RATHER have women. Cars fill the need without the sex. The unending emotional yakkity yak and drama. The obligations that come with women. The financial strain is known. One can cheat on a car and it doesn't care. Lie to it and it won't lie back. Get angry at it and it still stays. Since we can not and do not dare discuss women around women? Without incurring our favored lady's ire? We substitute something else. Like cars.

OK, I was being a bit cute....It mainly is pride of ownership and a brotherhood of machines. Over a hundred years back? It would have been horses. To us some things are more than machines. They are an extension of ourselves, needs and dreams. Believe me, your toleration of his obsession is greatly appreciated by him. It is one oof many reasons he likely adores you.
