Why Do Motorbike Taxi Drivers Wear Balaclavas

Do NASCAR drivers wear diapers?

To hear some of the interviews after a race, you might think they constantly wear diapers. I've been guilty of sounding very childish after a race, too, but never in public. I keep it with the team, and very much behind closed doors. Once the “hurt” has passed, I move on. I haven’t had a microphone jammed in my face as I exit the car even before I've removed my helmet, so I guess the candid nature of the interview is expected. But since that’s probably not what you mean, since we all act like petulant children at times, I’m guessing you’re talking about using something to soak up urine during the race.Having raced endurance races where I've been in the car for literally 4 hours at a stint, I've never had the need to pee while in the car. One of the last things I do before getting in is head to the toilet and make sure I’m empty. While driving, I’m taking on fluid, but most of what I take in is expelled through sweat. Very little if any is in my bladder, and I’m typically still very thirsty. NASCAR is similarly strenuous, and somewhat shorter for most races. They’re averaging 150–200 mph on larger tracks, and the races are 200–600 miles, so the longest they’d have to drive without a break to pee is probably only 3 hours, and with the amount of sweating they do, there really isn’t a need.On another note, I don’t know what diapers are made of, but unless it’s a natural fiber, I wouldn’t wear it. If the car catches on fire, I have fire resistant clothing on. My fire suit, helmet, balaclava, long undershirt and underpants, socks, and shoes, all fire retardant/resistant. There’s no way I’m going to have something on my body which might hamper my ability to survive that situation. I have just a few seconds to get out of the car and be doused with a fire extinguisher. If the diaper has something in it to help soak up urine, I’m guessing it’s not fire retardant, and is going to put a very high temperature far too close to a part of my body I’m quite fond of keeping in its current uncharred state. But just for argument’s sake, let’s say I had an uncontrollable need to pee while in the middle of a race. I’d just let it go and pee in the seat. With as hot as it is in the car, it would probably evaporate by the end of the race anyway, so not a big deal. I’d let my car chief know, but very few other people would know. =-)

What is the use of wearing balaclava under helmet on motorbikes?

Balaclava covers three areas and consequently serves a different purpose for each, in the order I find them important:- Back of the neck/head: Helps with turbulent air hitting the back of your head, especially in cold weather. - Front of the neck/chin: Helps in cold weather. Prevents dust and debris from hitting your neck.- Top of head/scalp: Somewhat prevents the dirt/sweat from reaching the helmet liner. Makes the helmet fit tighter, for better or for worse.I wear a wind-proof balaclava that covers my chin and reaches low on my chest and back only for long rides in cold weather. It does an excellent job of preventing cold air from reaching otherwise exposed areas. It's a PITA to put on and take off, especially if I wear glasses and/or earplugs. It looks ridiculous too, but that is never my main concern. Any other time I wear a bandana (or two) around my neck. In very hot weather I wear a wet microfiber bandana or a cooling bandana:Ergodyne Chill-Its 6700CT Evaporative Cooling Bandana with Cooling Towel Material - Tie, Solid Blue

I want to wear a helmet while riding, but it spoils my hairstyle. How can I maintain the hairstyle and still wear a helmet. I mostly keep a medium spike look?

Thanks for the A2A. Of course you can keep your hairstyle. Just take a taxi or travel by mass transport. Helmet hair is inevitable if you wear a helmet. If you don't get helmet hair you are wearing the wrong helmet. A tight fitting proper helmet would ruin your hair. But it is a million times better than a ruined face. If you are so concerned about your hair then riding isn't for you. Keeping your hair short also helps. Or you can carry a comb and mirror around with some gel. Happy Riding.
