Why Do Movie Directors Think It Is Normal To Show Men

Why can male genitalia be shown in an R movie, but the female genitalia is complete taboo?

@Mike Hammer that's what I said, it's only been public hair that's been shown. It's actually a "wig" to cover the actress's vulva from being seen on camera. In all the movies you've seen, even the ones where it looks like you can see their genitalia, you can't because it's not really theirs (that's how hi tech they get with their censorship props)

Do you think being a movie director suits the 'thinking man' personality?

By “thinking man”, you mean that not only are you “imaginative and creative”, but you’re also analytical and logical. That describes me. People often tell me that they can SEE me thinking. That’s how I look like on a film set, for 12 hours at a time. This is what bushy eyebrows are for, don’t you think?Trust me, you can do this. Maybe being too analytical can hurt an acting performance, I’ll give you that, but I can’t see your adjectives of choice describing anyone but the best filmmakers out there.Filmmaking is all about problem solving, and the director is the one who should be thinking the most on the set. The director certainly needs to be creative, and think up what they want, but then, there’s the challenge of communicating that vision to your actors, the cinematographer, the production designer, the casting director, the editor, the composer, etc. And there will be problems. You’ll need to be analytical to determine why things aren’t working out and logical enough to realize what your options are. Systematically go over each component and realize where the failings are, and how you can best use your time for the most impact. Realize what you actually need in your script. Can you combine shots? Can you film something in a different way, both better and simpler?Wouldn’t you want the analytical, logical sort holding the reins when the production runs behind schedule, everyone is running like headless chickens, squawking like …not-headless chickens… and you have to come up with a way to finish the film in a way that still makes sense?Take the reins, buddy. You’ll do just fine!

What do I do to become a film director in India?

I know the exact situation that you are in. The only difference was that my family did not oppose. The following worked for me, you might wanna give it a thought.Start your film making journey by joining a small part time course that has a duration of about 3 months and doesn't cost a bomb. What will happen is, instead of signing up a for a 3 or 2 year course in any institute where you will end up wasting your money as well as time, with a short term course you will get the clarity if film making suits you, and which part of film making attracts you the most  [writing, directing, cinematography, editing, acting, etc]. You will even end up spending time with a few others who share your passion for cinema and you can start making short films together, Start small but aim big. Do as many short films as you can to polish your art and craft skills. After the short term course you can decide if you want to join an institute or not but i would recommend you use that money to buy a camera [canon 600d for around Rs. 30,000] is always a better option than spending it on an institute for creative flied such as direction. With a camera always at hand you can shoot whatever you want, you can shoot your mom making a roti but do it in a style that no one has seen before. Trail and error will polish your skills. If other technical flied such as cinematography or editing interests you then by all means you must join an institute as they will have all the technical equipment to help you polish your skills. Remember: Industry politics do not effect content driven film makers.

How can I contact any director or producer if I want to show them my own created story or script?

You must have already learnt that it is difficult to find a known director or producer. That does not mean there is no real option for you.The method I propose is quite lengthy but likely to pay off.The industry isn’t small and there are about 1200 films made each year in our country. So many producers already pay writers for their story, not all of them are famous (they can be profitable).I would suggest you to look for such small time producers/directors. These people may have the money or have someone ready to invest in their projects. But, lucky for you these people don’t have so much of an influx of stories or screenplay. You can find such people everywhere. Just search for producer on Quora and there are so many people already in the industry answering questions and enjoying themselves.Once you have found them on some platform like Quora, LinkedIn, Facebook or even Instagram, just build a relationship with them. You can even jump in with your elevator pitch in the DM.I would suggest you to copyright your screenplay first. You are very likely to come across some people with the resources to invest in your project. Don’t be turned off if many don’t.

Why are women always nude in the movies?

Like, whenver there's an 'R' rated movie or a comedy, it's always the girl whose flashing her chest or just naked, but never the guys. Why? Why is it okay for women to be treated like sex objects but not the guy? isn't that a double standard?
So, guys can see the women nude, but there is nothing for the woman to enjoy?

Can a common man become a film director?

I've grown up knowing “I can become or do anything I put forth my mind and efforts to.” This was told to me by my parents, Rest In Peace Dad, God Bless You Mom, you both will always be in my heart.I'm approaching my golden years. At 66 ripe years old I'm destin to claim the family throne as the elder once my dear Mother of 89 wonderful years is called home to be with my Dad who's already with our Heavenly Father.Looking back at the desires I've had and accomplished I'd have to agree with them both. I've held some of the most of the prestigious jobs and have done some of the interesting adventures possible.Am I satisfied, reasonably. What would I change anything, No, well maybe, let me explain. If I could go back and alter what I consider to be a tiny insignificant iota and then I must re-live my life again from that point forward could be detrimental to my happiness. My fears would be… but before I delve into the fear department I need to try and understand the universal powers that govern our destiny, that being time.I've always known about Karma to which Ying and Yang play a tremendously important role. Red Skekton said it best when he'd imitate a young boy dealing with the complexity of good vs. evil on his 60’s T.V. show, yes I'm paraphrasing: “I know Mommy and Daddy will be real mad if I doood it and I'll get a whoopin if I doo, I doood it anyway!”, his brilliance is truly missed, RIP Red. Where am I going with this, I'm not sure but I'm on my way! I'm trying to convey how as minuscule a minor iota is in the universe time frame, it's huge in ours. Therefore as I've previously ranted “Anyone can be/do anything they choose to do!”. I despise Naysayers, there negativity has ruined many a young persons dream by constantly berating them into Believing don't have a chance. With today's technology coupled with the Internet and inspiring director can show case his or hers stuff on U-TUBE.Believe you can and you will!

If you're a grown man and you shed tears when watching an emotional movie, what does that say about you as a person?

When I first read it I thought like someone had seen me in theatre and put this question on Quora :P (yes I do call in this Same category of grown up man :D )Anyways it does say thatThe person is heavily connected with the emotions in the film (great job the director head done)Or the person is good and soft heard enough so that he cannot see someone cry (even in the films :P)Or the character in the movie which made him cry may be similar to someone who is emotionally attached to him in the real life.Or the back ground score is great enough to make a grown up man cry (music director is the culprit :P)Or the person values human relations pretty well so that he is easily connected with that characters (because not only in movies while reading books also I do cry in fact I cried a lot when read about Draupadi in Mahabharat, Sita in Ramayan)Above all he is one among the rare precious diamonds which are difficult to find in present generation (fun intended ;) :) :D)P.S : Those guys not only cry during emotional scenes but also shout, feel anger against villains try to kill them (literally I killed villains more than the hero does in my imagination while watching films :D), they also feel happy (sometimes my mother was afraid as what happened to me, but I was just laughing after seeing a comedy scene in the movie) and all other emotions too. These guys are pretty emotional buddy ;)Thank you.Mr.A
