Why Do My Budgies Have A Lump On Their Chest

My baby chicken has a lump on her chest?

As already mentioned it is likely the crop and it is stuffed full. Chickens need grits in the gizzard to grind the food. Give her four or five tiny bb to pea sized stones or grit from the feed store. I would mix them with a very liitle feed and make certain she eats them before feeding her more. If not you must force feed them to her. Chickens can die from starvation if the food is not ground up enough to leave the gizzard and the crop is stuffed full but can not pass anything to a full gizzard. It may be too late to get the grit to the gizzard.

My male cockatiel has a huge lump on his chest. What do I do?

I have a male cockatiel and his chest is covered with feathers so the lump doesn't notice. But one day when I blew on him, I could see that he has a pretty big lump on his chest and it's a different color than the rest of his chest. It's a pinkish color. I lightly touched it to see if he felt pain, and it's extremely soft. More softer than the rest of his stomach. So the lump on his chest is pink and way too soft. What is it? What do I do? I don't want my bird to die!!!

Lump on budgies face...?

my 11 year old budgie has developed a lump on the side of his face (just on the blue bit of the "neclace" of dark feathers on his yellow head). its about one third of the size of a pea. It doesnt seem to be interfering with his life at all, but it doesnt look good either.

I'm afraid I cant take him to the vet - he would probably die of a heart attack as he's a rescue budgie and was mistreated in his last home. he has a fear of people and open spaces. so I'm just going to see how he goes as he still seems very happy. my vet doesnt do very much for birds anyway so probably wouldnt be able to treat him.

has anyone else had a problem like this or know what is wrong?

Why do some budgies like being petted? How do I pet a budgie and without leting it snap my finger off? Do budgies like human touch?

Most budgies do not like being petted. Unlike cats and dogs, whose mothers were constantly cuddling them from the moment they were born, baby budgies grew up with minimal touch from their mothers. Therefore, they view touch as “scary” and try to defend themselves with the only weapon they have—their beak. In the wild, the only time budgies would be touched by an animal much bigger than them would be if a predator got them. So it is realistic to expect budgies to freak out when petted by humans. There are exceptions, however, such as when a budgie is sexually aroused. Then, they will allow their “mate” to pet them, whether it be another bird or their favorite human. My female budgie arches herself when she wants to be “petted” (she is sexually excited) and she then allows me to pet her on her back.If your budgie won't allow you to pet her, there are other ways to show your affection. Talk to your budgie in a happy, excited voice. Sing to her. Whistle to her. Let her ride around on your shoulder as you go about your business. Blow kisses at her. Tell her she is a pretty bird. Let her perch on your finger. Roll around a ball on the floor for her to chase. Let her play with your finger. Let her sit on your head. If you play an instrument, play her a song. There are many other ways to bond with your budgie and show her that you love her if she prefers not to be petted.

My parakeet has a huge lump on her chest?

It is a tumor. My female parakeet had a lump in her chest. We payed it no attention. One day she was lying on the ground and my mom rushed her to the vet. My mom was almost certain she died on the way there. The vet then confirmed it. She had had a stomach tumor. I now know to watch these things and pay close attention to my remaining parakeet. Don't do what I did. Take him to your avian vet right away! Hope this helps.

My budgie is bloated and does weird stretching while opening mouth!!! What's happening!!!?

when you say bloated, is her stomach bigger, or are her feathers just puffed up. it should be easy to test, touch her stomach with your finger and see if it's flesh or feathers.

if it's feathers, she's cold, try putting her next to a very sunny window with a full spectrum light bulb on her. if you don't have a full spectrum you can use a regular lamp but make sure you monitor it VERY closely, so as not to burn her. the easiest way to test a birds body temp is by their feet. while she's sitting on your finger, if she feels colder than your hand she's too cold. most birds body temps should be a couple degrees warmer than your own so she should feel warm (not hot) while on your finger.

as for the stretching, it's a natural budgie thing. :)

Chest Tumor?

Benign tumours usually do not cause death. However, if they become too big and compress the airways, then your friend may have breathing difficulties - though this will be gradual onset and hence maybe can be prevented from getting worse. If it at the apex (top) of the lungs, it may cause compression of the brachial plexus (group of nerves near the armpit) which may cause weakness in the arm, and muscle wasting - but not death.

My bird has a lump on her chest. Can anybody tell me what it is?

Aw, what a beauty she is. The most likely thing is a fatty tumor. Parakeets are especially prone to these, especially if her diet has been mostly or totally, seeds and seed products. If that's the way she has been eating, you really need to start right away, working on getting her to accept some pellets and lots of fresh fruits, veggies and leafy greens. A few seeds each day are fine but the goal is for them to not be more than about 20% of any bird's diet and she should not be getting any sunflower seeds. Millet is also very high in fat and for a Parakeet, no more than about half a sprig, per week is plenty. However, that will not likely help with this lump. She really needs to be evaluated by a proper Avian vet. It may only be a fatty tumor at this point but it can turn cancerous if not treated properly, sooner rather than later. Good luck. I hope it will not be serious.
