Why Do My Ears Hurt When I Wear Earrings

Why do my ears hurt when I wear earrings?

ok i have 11 piercings so i know what your talking about. it could be that your not cleaning them properly. when did you get them pierced and are they lobe piercings. if yes and within a year they're still healing and thats why there's crusty stuff if not then its your body reacting to the foreign object in you ear. some people just cant wear earring or get pierced because their body will naturally reject all foreign materials. you could always try titanium. normally when my ears start to get sore its because i had the same earring in for a long amount of time without cleaning them properly. H2Ocean is the best cleaner you can get! my ears started to do the same thing because of this one pair that i wore for like 2 years(but i always cleaned them) and not i cant wear them so i wear 18k gold earrings. i heard the the purer the gold the less likely you are to get an irritation but im not 100% on that. so try cleaning them about twice a day using H2Ocean and try titanium or gold thats over 18k. if you got your ears pierced less then a year ago you should still be cleaning them twice a day! especially after you shower! also idk if you live in a colder area or a warmer one but swimming is a big NO if you have newly pierced ears!!!! the fact that their red and crusty sounds kinda normal if you notice puss thats yellow or green keep cleaning them until the infection goes away. if you take out the earring during an infection then the infection will get trapped in your ear. if you don't see any improvement within a week or two contact your piercer and go to the doctor for some either topical or oral medication to treat the infection. from what you described i think your fine tho.

In that case definitely try to get 18k gold or higher i'm almost 100% positive you wont have the crusting :) titanium is also really good but 18k+ gold is the best.

So I always wear these real gold earrings that are hoops. Why do my ears get sore when I wear earrings?

Assuming your ears have fully healed and these aren’t fresh piercings, this could be due to a couple of things. One of the most common causes for something like this is an allergic reaction to one or more of the materials contained in the jewellery you are wearing, likely to be Nickel but can also be other materials depending on the person. Metal allergies with jewellery can result in the area becoming itchy and sore and developing a rash and possibly becoming infected if ignored.Another possible cause could be the size of the jewellery instead, most notably if the bar length is too small or the gauge (bar thickness) is too big which would make for a tight fit hence causing it to become sore. The third possibility that I can think of at the moment is perhaps whatever you are using to clean your piercings with or in reverse, a lack of cleaning. If you do clean your piercings then it could be down to whatever you are using, whether you are allergic to this stuff or it’s simply not suited for piercings I can’t say for sure. However, if you never clean your piercings then this might also be a cause, again it can depend on the jewellery and what it’s made of but if you notice a piercing becoming dirty or you see a build-up of something then it may be either an allergic reaction to a metal contained in the jewellery which is common but especially if the jewellery is cheap and uses materials that aren’t suitable for piercings.Overall, you’ll have to do a bit of detective work by yourself to figure out what exactly is the cause. You’ll want to check a few things and experiment a little to narrow it down. If you own some other jewellery then try wearing different ones to see if you get a similar reaction, take note of the size and material if possible. That should help you determine whether it’s the size or the material that’s causing this. Another thing to think about is where the jewellery came from. If it’s cheap stuff you bought online from eBay for example then the cause could be any number of things, potentially everything I’ve mentioned, you never really know what it’s made of. If it’s high-quality stuff from a professional and reputable source then it may just come down to size and potential metal allergies which is common anyway. Again, try out other jewellery of different sizes and materials to narrow down possible causes and avoid cheap jewellery as it’s never worth it.Hope that helps. Thanks for the request, Brendon Summer.

My ears hurt when I wear gold earrings?

Some people are allergic to gold and you might be too. You should go to your doctor and ask him/her why your ears get red and puffy. And I bet your parents would understand. So don't be guilty. Someday you can wear them if it gets treated.

My earring hole hurts a lot when I wear earrings?

Your ears can heal. Just mix some sea salt with a cup of water and clean your ears daily.

You have to mix 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt with 1 cup of water. For certain piercings it may be easier to apply using clean gauze or paper towels saturated with saline solution. Soak your piercing with the solution for at least 5 -10 minutes. Then, rinse the piercing with water to remove residue.

You can also clean your piercing with antibacterial soap. Clean your piercing for about 2 times per day. Clean your piercing until your piercing not longer leak fluids or hurt.

You're allergic to the nickle content in cheap jewelry. Your ears are sensitive. Try finding hypoallergenic earrings; they're for sensitive ears. You can find them at Macy's, Target, Icing by Claire's, Claire's, Wal- Mart, and Dillards. Looks for the label "hypoallergenic", "nickel - free" or "For sensitive ears" on a package of earrings. Those types of earrings won't irritate your ears.

You can also find some earrings based on their metal content. Earrings made from sterling silver, 18 karat gold, surgical steel, rhodium and titanium jewelry are all safe for sensitive ears.

Why does my ear hurt after I wear earrings?

I haven't wore earrings for a while, but suddenly I started wearing hoop earrings. When I put them in, my ears start to hurt. They are not huge hoop earrings, their medium sized. And I do wash both my ear and the earring with alcohol before I put them in.

Should I stop wearing them?
Why does it always hurt?

Thanks!

Why do my ears hurt while wearing headphones?

There are several possible reasons:For any kind of headphones - excessive volume. The pain threshold is about 125 dB, which is the same volume as a balloon popping. Sustained exposure to sounds this loud can lead to long-term effects. Also for any kind of headphones - excessive treble. Related to excessive volume, if a pair has a particularly crisp high treble range, it can be literally fatiguing to listen for long periods of time. Especially if you listen at moderately loud volumes. This is why Sennheiser tends to roll off the high treble frequencies in their headphones. For in-ear headphones - too-large ear tips. Pretty simple concept; if you’re trying to jam earphones into your ears that are too large, they’ll be very uncomfortable. Most IEM’s come with at least 3 sizes of ear tips, so try going one size smaller. For on-ear headphones - well…. discomfort is kind of normal. I’d expect all on-ear headphones to be slightly uncomfortable for everybody. But they’ll be especially uncomfortable if they have a particularly strong clamping force or insufficient padding on the earcups, or if you just have larger ears (like me).For over-ear headphones - poor fit. If they’re uncomfortable, you should probably get larger headphones. Strong clamping force can also contribute, but I don’t see this as a major issue here.At the end of the day, headphones should be comfortable. If they’re physically painful to wear, you need better headphones. I, as I’ve mentioned earlier, have unusually large ears, which require particularly large earcups. With that said, I’ve had the Sennheiser HD 598 SE for a year, and the HD 598 Cs for a week, and both have exceptionally large earcups that fit my ears comfortably, plus a fairly light clamping force. I can use both for several hours on end with no noticeable fatigue. For contrast, my previous daily driver headphones, some on-ear wireless headphones from Urbanears, had a particularly strong clamping force and unexceptional ear cushions, which made them hurt after just 20–30 minutes of use.Regardless of your ears, you should be able to find headphones that fit comfortably. It might take a bit of research, but it’s totally worth it in the end.

My mother insist that I wear earrings but it hurts my ears. What should I do?

If your ears hurt when you wear earrings, there is a reason that is worth exploring. They shouldn’t cause you pain. Pain can indicate infection, irritation, or a metal allergy.I sincerely hope that you have spoken to your mom or your doctor if the pain has persisted and especially if there are signs of infection (pus, hot to touch, fever, etc).Your ears could hurt if you sleep with your earrings in at night or they are somehow otherwise receiving local trauma (maybe getting squished under headphones?). If it could be these things, try taking the earrings off when sleeping or when using headphones and see if your ears feel better. The final reason for pain (if it is not due to infection or irritation) is that you could be allergic to an ingredient in the metal of your earrings. Many people are allergic to nickel, for example, which is found in a variety of metals. If you know the metal you are wearing, you can visit my materials page for information on which types of metals could be causing the problem and then select a metal type that does not contain those ingredients. The materials table on my site here can help: https://www.PrettySensitiveEars.... A doctor can help identify specific metal allergies too via some testing. Good luck and I hope you are able to resolve your pain! I know from experience that that is miserable.
