Why does my knee hurt when I bend down?

My right knee starting hurting like two days ago. I was running and when I landed on my right leg I had a really sharp pain in my knee but when I kept going it was fine. Then yesterday at work I bent down to put my shoes on and like standing up my knee hurt really bad. Same thing happens when I sit down or get up. I don't think I did anything to it other than running but even then I don't think I landed on it weird or anything. It's day three and it doesn't feel any better yet. Walking is fine.

Why does my knee hurt when I bend it?

There are many possibilities but depending on whether it's joint pain or soft tissue pain will be the most identifying factor. If it's joint pain then it could be osteoarthritis or another degenerative disease. Or there could be tracking problems of the knee which causes friction when you bend it and therefore pain from the articulating bones rubbing on each other.

Alternatively, if you're reasonably active, it could be patella-femoral syndrome which is caused by an inflammation of the tendon that connects your quadriceps to your knee. When the knee bends it causes tension on this tendon aggravating it and causing it to further inflame. That may explain why the pain is relieved upon extending the knee again.

If it's really bothering you then seeing a physio may be beneficial.

I'm only 13 and my knees hurt when I bend them What is it!?

There are several vitamin deficiencies that will cause sore muscles and stiff joints. Vitamin D is at the top of the list but others can do it too. Very few people get all the nutrients they need and it's somewhat difficult to keep track of every single thing you eat. Start taking a full vitamin once a day, preferably after dinner since it can upset an empty stomach. It takes quite awhile to see results so don't stop taking them.

If you're going through a growth spurt, anything that's growing will become stiff. (I'm 6'1" so trust me on this.) The arms, legs and back commonly get sore. The best thing to do is to spend some time every day stretching. Yoga is your best bet. Even if you're not currently growing it will tone your muscles and strengthen your joints. It should help with the pain you're feeling too. (I actually did yoga when I took Taekwondo so that my legs wouldn't hurt during practice.) Stretching takes awhile to show results too because you have to build up to it slowly. Once you start to increase your flexibility this way, you may want to get a little exercise too. The increase in circulation and the strengthening of your muscles will help too.

I'm 15, why do my knees hurt?

All joints for 15 year old are growth areas. So congrats you may be having your next growth spurt. How tall are your grand patents both sides. If both make and female are tall you shoulld be too with proper health.

Why do my knees hurt when I need to poop?

I believe Mr. Charles Sendicker was on the right track. There is also something called referred pain that too would just be an anatomical-nervous system thing. An example: Many people experience referred pain when their neck is achy or out of alignment; it causes them to feel headaches, even though that is not the location of the origin of the pain.I would do 3 things, keep a log of when, where and how long the pain is lasting. There is an app where you can even show on the body where you are feeling the pain, inner knees, back of the knees, patella, outer knees… It is called Chronic Pain Tracker, (I use it,) there is a Lite version too - iOS formats. You can even print out or e-mail reports to your doctor. Then your doctor can look for any patterns. Now, I know that some people believe in sticking to traditional western medicine, however in this case I would also ask you to consider contacting a chiropractor or PT (Physical Therapist), if indeed it is a nervous system thing then maybe the PT could show you some stretches that would improve compression that may be causing the pain (alleviating a pinched nerve kind of thing); or seek the services of a Chiropractor. Chiropractors won’t just send you away without exploring how your body is aligned. MDs want to know if you have a break, tear, infection or tumor. Think of chiropractors like mechanics that work on alignment of the body. If your car is not aligned properly, your tires don’t wear evenly and you also may experience a rough ride because the shocks aren’t able to do their job effectively.Chiropractors check to see if you are aligned so it causes less wear on your joints (human shocks), and see that things aren’t wearing unevenly or you are getting a pinched nerve. I’ve had 2 whiplash injuries from car accidents which caused my neck to be straight. The MDs said nothing about the natural curve in my neck being gone or what to do to get it back or that it may continue to cause headaches. They were happy there were no broken bones and sent me away with a Rx for pain. I didn't find that helpful, but the chiropractor has been very helpful. If athletes use them (golfers, football players, etc.) they are certainly in the holistic pain reliving business. This is my own personal experience- others may have a different one.Wishing you health and healing.Christine

My knee hurts when i bend it, what does it mean?

when like *example* bend down on my right leg to tie my shoe lace, theres like this pressure from my knee and it hurts, or when i just make my right leg completely straight it hurts

Why does my knee hurt (I'm 14)?

Both of the previous answers are excellent. I have another theory. At that age my son complained of knee pain almost daily. It seemed most noticeable at night (when other distractions are minimal). At times, his knee hurt so bad that he couldn’t sleep. We went to the doctor with nothing abnormal found. Turns out he was experiencing ‘growing pains’. In a short 3 or 4 month period he grew over 3.5″ in height. I then understood where that phrase came from. Start out with your doctor, if nothing is wrong, you too may be experiencing ‘growing pains’.

Why do your knees hurt when you sit for a long time?

It's called "Movie goers knee". (Also known as Patello-femoral pain syndrome.)There is general diffuse pain around the front part of your knee. Your knee cap sits in a specific groove in front of your knee joint. If your knee cap is not positioned correctly in this groove, it will rub against the bone behind it. This will cause friction between the 2 bony surfaces is what causes your knee to hurt. This friction is amplified especially when you sit for a long period of time. (driving, watching a movie, sitting at work etc). How to fix it:1. Avoid prolonged sitting:Try to get up every 30-60 minutes. This step alone may prevent the pain.2. Stretch out your quadriceps muscle:Tight quads will pull the knee cap closer to the bone behind it.Hold for at least 30 seconds. Repeat 5 times a day.Make sure you feel the stretch along the front of your thigh.3. Foam roll your ITB (side thigh):Tight muscles can pull your knee cap out of the optimal alignment and cause more friction and rubbing of the bones.Assume position as above. Apply your body weight over the foam roll.Gently roll up/down the side of your thigh.Do this for 1-2 minute. (it will hurt)4. Decrease the amount bending of the knee whilst sitting:The greater the angle of bend in your knee, the more likely the knee cap will rub against the bone behind it. This can be achieved by placing your foot slightly further way, sitting on a higher chair or making sure you are moving your legs every 20 minutes whilst sitting.Hope this helps!
