Why Do My Knees Hurt When I Ride In The Car

Why do my knees hurt when I need to poop?

I believe Mr. Charles Sendicker was on the right track. There is also something called referred pain that too would just be an anatomical-nervous system thing. An example: Many people experience referred pain when their neck is achy or out of alignment; it causes them to feel headaches, even though that is not the location of the origin of the pain.I would do 3 things, keep a log of when, where and how long the pain is lasting. There is an app where you can even show on the body where you are feeling the pain, inner knees, back of the knees, patella, outer knees… It is called Chronic Pain Tracker, (I use it,) there is a Lite version too - iOS formats. You can even print out or e-mail reports to your doctor. Then your doctor can look for any patterns. Now, I know that some people believe in sticking to traditional western medicine, however in this case I would also ask you to consider contacting a chiropractor or PT (Physical Therapist), if indeed it is a nervous system thing then maybe the PT could show you some stretches that would improve compression that may be causing the pain (alleviating a pinched nerve kind of thing); or seek the services of a Chiropractor. Chiropractors won’t just send you away without exploring how your body is aligned. MDs want to know if you have a break, tear, infection or tumor. Think of chiropractors like mechanics that work on alignment of the body. If your car is not aligned properly, your tires don’t wear evenly and you also may experience a rough ride because the shocks aren’t able to do their job effectively.Chiropractors check to see if you are aligned so it causes less wear on your joints (human shocks), and see that things aren’t wearing unevenly or you are getting a pinched nerve. I’ve had 2 whiplash injuries from car accidents which caused my neck to be straight. The MDs said nothing about the natural curve in my neck being gone or what to do to get it back or that it may continue to cause headaches. They were happy there were no broken bones and sent me away with a Rx for pain. I didn't find that helpful, but the chiropractor has been very helpful. If athletes use them (golfers, football players, etc.) they are certainly in the holistic pain reliving business. This is my own personal experience- others may have a different one.Wishing you health and healing.Christine

Why do your knees hurt when you sit for a long time?

It's called "Movie goers knee". (Also known as Patello-femoral pain syndrome.)There is general diffuse pain around the front part of your knee. Your knee cap sits in a specific groove in front of your knee joint. If your knee cap is not positioned correctly in this groove, it will rub against the bone behind it. This will cause friction between the 2 bony surfaces is what causes your knee to hurt. This friction is amplified especially when you sit for a long period of time. (driving, watching a movie, sitting at work etc). How to fix it:1. Avoid prolonged sitting:Try to get up every 30-60 minutes. This step alone may prevent the pain.2. Stretch out your quadriceps muscle:Tight quads will pull the knee cap closer to the bone behind it.Hold for at least 30 seconds. Repeat 5 times a day.Make sure you feel the stretch along the front of your thigh.3. Foam roll your ITB (side thigh):Tight muscles can pull your knee cap out of the optimal alignment and cause more friction and rubbing of the bones.Assume position as above. Apply your body weight over the foam roll.Gently roll up/down the side of your thigh.Do this for 1-2 minute. (it will hurt)4. Decrease the amount bending of the knee whilst sitting:The greater the angle of bend in your knee, the more likely the knee cap will rub against the bone behind it. This can be achieved by placing your foot slightly further way, sitting on a higher chair or making sure you are moving your legs every 20 minutes whilst sitting.Hope this helps!

Why do my knees always hurt when I'm on an airplane?

Several factors contribute to knee pain posture being one if the most prominent. Airline seating tends to be placed lower than most other seats you typically use. That combined with little room to extend your legs has you sitting with your knees above waist level. This reduces circulation to your knees and lower legs. Your body then produces discomfort to encourage you to change position. Of course you can't so the discomfort becomes pain and the pain slowly increases until you can. Add a pressurized cabin, limited bathroom breaks, and restricted fluids throughout the flight and you can end a long flight barely able to walk with swollen legs.A way to avoid or reduce this is to reserve the seat at the front of the section where you have more legroom. Failing that choose an aisle seat. There is a button hidden on the underside the aisle armrest that allows it to be raised. Then you can stretch your legs into the aisle (being careful not to block traffic or get in the way of carts of course!). I'm actually considering business class next time myself.

Why do my knees hurt when I ride in the car?

Whenever I sit in the car my knees hurt really bad. I am guessing it is from basketball? They don't hurt when I play though. It helps a little bit when I bend them and try to stretch but you cant really do that in a small car. I cant even go on vacation because the pain is so bad, I couldn't imagine being in the car all day with that pain. What the heck is wrong with my knees and how do I fix it?!

Knee issue after long car ride?

Two weeks ago I went on a long trip (4-5 hours in car) and had my knee bent up for almost all the car ride. When I first bent my knee it hurt to bend it.

Now there is a clickly noise in my knee when I straighten it, and it feels like its locking. Also, when I keep it bent for long periods of time it hurts REALLY bad. Especially at night if I sleep with the knee bent I will wake up in severe pain.

Besides that, there is no pain or swelling.

Does it sound like a muscle strain or what? Should I see a doctor or just see if it goes away?

Thanks

Why does my opposite leg hurt when I am driving?

That’s cuz you are just resting that leg and not doing any actions for blood supply. So once in a while just move your opposite leg and change your posture or take a loo loo break or stop the vehicle and check your twitter feed while walking to your loo. Your leg needs fresh blood mate, that’s all.

If a car wheel goes over your foot very quickly, would it hurt?

One of the (many) dumb kid things we used to do was occasionally put our casually-shod feet under one of our friend’s car tires as they were leaving. Boy were we hilarious. No, it did not hurt, even rolling at normal “backup” speeds. Not something I would do now or EVER recommend, but (seriously, without ANY endorsement of my 16-year-old idiocy) it did not hurt.Mind you, this is a foot flat on the ground, not a leg outstretched or some other unsupported limb.

Why does my left leg hurts after I drive a car for 1 hour?

This is because your muscles are slightly weak and not familiar with this kind of workout much. When subjected to similar physical activity over high frequency they induce pain (due to local production of lactic acid). No need to worry, there is nothing wring with your legs!!You are a new driver, also tall drivers face this problem more. It happens generally with cars with heavy clutch. As you get habitual in driving, you won't feel any pain in your muscles. I know it is quite painful and your legs sore. There is one thing you can surely do. Cars have a space to the left of clutch. It has a dead pedal, if your car doesn't has you can buy them and get one fitted. You make a habit of resting your leg on that. As you have you leg streched, you pain shall soothe easily.(Source: Google Images)After a couple of weeks you won't feel any pain, till then exercise your legs!!!!

My knees hurt when I use stirrups while horseback riding?

I broke my knee when I was 13 - I have to be very very careful about how my stirrups are set or I have major problems - especially since I ride several horses per day.

Your stirrups are too short. End of story. If your knees do not hurt when your leg hangs regularly, then they should not hurt with your foot in the stirrup. For where you are used to having your leg, the stirrup bar should hit just BELOW your ankle for flatwork, and for jumping you should shorten to just above your ankle. If you are being asked to ride on the flat with a jumping length to your stirrups, you are going to be in agony, and you are working with an instructor who is not well educated.

Don't "push" your heels down - this just forces your foot out in front of your knee. It should be a stretching of the calf and achilles tendon that causes the heel to drop.
