Why Do Obama Plans Always Involve Spending Somebody Elses Money

Why doesn't everybody start their own business instead of working for someone else?

Not everybody wants to put in the time required to own their own business. It's really not a 40 hour a week job. In addition to the many good answers you've gotten so far about capital, ideas, and expenses, there's also this...

There are some things that are simply to big or expensive to be constructed by a single person economically (or even to outsource some of the construction to other sole proprietors).

Imagine you want to buy a car, so you head down to the guy who builds cars. The guy who builds the cars has to outsource most of the major subasseblies (unless you can find someone skilled enough to cast his own engine blocks, sew his own upholstery, and do his own painting)

The body panels are going stamped out of sheet steel, and it takes some really big equipement to do that (unless you want to "hand create" a body out of pieces on an English wheel, which is going to take months). Big equipment is expensive so the body stamper has to charge enough to cover his materials, the cost of the press and the dies, and still earn enough to put food on his table. Because he's only got 168 hours a week (and some of them are spent on sleep, eating, etc.), there is a limit to how many bodies he can stamp out--you want to take a guess at how much a body would have to cost just to cover the payments on the press?

That's just for the body. Imagine the same thing with the interior, power train, and electricals, and I think you can start to see the problem.

Having big companies for some things allows for the "economy of scale" to keep prices low enough that people can buy them.

Can someone answer this question about "rationing" of health care?

there is no reason why health care has to be limited, or rationed, by the government. The government could stay out of it, and then health care would be like automobiles, bread, or cantaloupes, where the supply naturally increases when demand increases. There is no set supply in the free market. At one point in the late 1940s, experts thought the world only needed about six computers. Imagine what would have happened if the government had taken over the computer market at that point, and limited production to six computers.

Can somebody please tell me what's the problem with introducing a health care system in the USA?

I am from the UAE where health care is provided by the Government for free for citizen and regarding the law, companies/sponsors have to provide free health care for foreign residents.

I studied in Germany and know that they have an health care system, where people up to a certain income HAVE to be insured by one of the public health care providers. The costs are paid 50% by the employee and 50% by the employer. People who have to be insured can feel free to get an additional insurance to be treated as a private patient.
Employees with a certain income (sorry, don't know how much), can decided if being insured by a public insurance or a private one.

I have American friends, who are against the American Government getting involved in their health care system. Why? Will Pres. Obama's plans prohibit people to get private insurances?
I just don't get what's the problem. Shouldn't health caree be provided to everybody?

Can somebody please explain to me what's the issue/problem? Thanks in advance.

Hugs! Are democrats taxing & chasing away rich americans who make up the majority of employers in the US?

So just what great jobs are here? Wal-Mart, McDonalds, Home Depot? Where are the factories, And office jobs that went with them? You act like we MIGHT run them off when THEY have already run off ON THEIR OWN. So don't try to act like their doing so much for the country when its THEMSELVES their doing for. If they want to give tax breaks to the rich give it to the ones creating jobs IN THE US. Tim Leatherman would be one of the first to come to mind. Any of the others who have kids doing the work in third world countries while their striking it rich can go get screwed. And just how many of those rich are hiring illegal aliens again to drive down our wages. I'm not going to knock someone for looking out for themself first, but greed is greed no matter how it's packaged. Lonewady ( Jose Wales #1 movie ever ) Harley's are made here but check out all the shirts and cups and everything other than the bikes in a Harley store and you will see hardly any of it is made here. They act like they pride themself on being made in the US but throw their name on all kinds of crap not made here. Your right it probably wont be long before they split.
