Why Do People Act Like The Seahawks Are A Great Team

Can the Seattle Seahawks repeat next year?

The odds are against any team repeating:  only 7 teams have repeated as Super Bowl champions, and none since 2005.  League parity seems to indicate that any team that is truly exceptional is not going to be that way for long.  Add to it the fact that the Seahawks play in the toughest division in the league (and one in which every one of their division opponents appears to have gotten better in the offseason), plus the inevitable difficulties with what Pat Riley called "the disease of more"--individual egos tend to become bigger after championships--and it's not going to be easy. That being said, the Seahawks (1) were the most dominant Super Bowl champion since the 2004 New England Patriots (the last team to repeat), (2) return just about every key player from last year's roster, and (3) still have the league's best defense, a balanced offensive attack, and a beloved coach, so it's hard to imagine them falling off too much.  Just going solely on paper, the Seahawks would be most people's pick for best team in the league, and no worse than #2 or 3.  Thus, assuming they survive their own division intact, Seattle has as good a chance of repeating as any Super Bowl winner since New England in 2004.

Are the Seahawks the most hated team?

it seems like every time i get on this website everyone hates on them and calls there fans gay. and just to point out a little fact... the city where the most gay people live in the U.S. is Minneapolis.... so the Vikings would technically have the gay fans. so is there a reason people hate them or are most people on this site haters?

Who owns the Seattle Seahawks now?

The Seahawks are owned by Vulcan - a private corporation which was set up to own and manage Paul Allen's financial holdings. Before Paul Allen passed away the Seahawks were owned by Vulcan which was owned by Paul Allen.

Now, the Seahawks are still owed by the Vulcan corporation, but that cooperation is owned by Paul Allen's estate.

Eventually his estate will be sold off and the money will either go to his family or the charities he designated in his will. That process could take years.

As for the Seahawks, his sister has said she is not interested in owning the Seahawks or the Portland Trailblazers (NBA) team which Paul Allen also owned. So the teams will be sold, but with a current estimated value of about $2 billion for the Seahawks, the list of people who can afford to buy the team is pretty short.

But the Vulcan Corporation has a board of trusties who will continue to run the team as well as managing Allen's other holdings until a new owner is found. And there is no way the NFL would allow a new owner to move the team, so any owner, even if they are not local to Seattle (like Paul Allen), would be buying the team knowing that the team will be staying put.

The bottom line is that nothing really changes in the near future for the Seahawks other than losing a man who was beloved by the team and the community as a whole.

What's so good about the Seahawks?

Their secondary is the best unit in the league with Dick Sherman who is the best CB in the league and Earl Thomas who is the best free safety in the league. Throw in Kam Chanchallor who is a pro bowl safety as you have 3 elite components whether you are in your base defense or nickel, dime defense. Then their front 7 can stop the run without bringing the 8 man in the box which allow them to be creative with their schemes. They don't have elite pass rusher but again, because of their secondary, their pass rushers have more time to rush the passer because QBs hold the ball longer. The thing that makes Seattle special is their defense. Yes Marshawn Lynch is one of the best RBs in the league but their receivers and tes are nothing special and Wilson as good as he is benefits from playing ahead in many games. The thing that is special about the Sea Chickens is their defense. That is what makes them who they are. Their offense is good but not great. I have not seen a defense as complete as their unit that is ELITE at stopping the run and pass since the 09 Jets when they had the #1 defense and Revis was basically a one man wrecking crew.

Do you think the Seahawks will do well in the 2018 season? Why or why not?

I think the Seahawks have become a victim of their own success and of Pete Carroll’s arrogance. I don’t think they will do well this season, some of it because they won’t be as good and some because other teams in their division are better. The Seahawks great teams were predicated on defense and speed. Carroll took a college mentality to the big leagues and made it work. He simply bought a lot of speed and schemed an offense to fit it. Defensively, Dan Quinn crafted a solid group with expertise at every level, and especially a great group of DB’s. However, the way the defense played caught up to them. The very physical play was often illegal and as referees began looking more, they began to see it more. They were always a highly penalized group, the penalties simply became more egregious and came at worse times. Where they used speed to beat teams, they were met with equal speed and/or greater size and were thwarted. Now, their undersized offensive line has under-performed and had injuries. They fail to keep pressure off Russell Wilson and they fail to get a consistent run game going. This year will be no different, and meanwhile the NFC West is vastly better than it had been. When Seattle was dominant, their only divisional competition was Arizona. Now Arizona is probably the worst team in that division. The Rams are obviously at the top. It will remain to be seen if San Francisco’s hot finish was the beginning of something new or just a flash. But Seattle has a lot of drama going on that will detract and distract. The Richard Sherman thing. The Michael Bennett thing. The Kam Chancellor thing. The Earl Thomas thing. Having the best linebacking corps in NFL is great, but it’s not enough. Doug Baldwin is not a No. 1 receiver in the league. And Penny is going to be learning on the fly behind a not ready for prime time line….Tough sledding for the Seattle guys this season.
