We all have a little ESP. Some people have developed their gift very well at times, while many others use it as a way to get attention to themselves. Most are just picking up your thoughts, so if you change your mind about something they spoke of - they will be wrong. I have known several and they have good days and bad, just like all of us. One time I was getting a reading and the lady told me: "Someone from out west of Idaho is calling you. And I don't know where Idaho is." I went home and called my brother in law near Seattle. He told me that my sister just had a still birth and almost died. I was stunned.
Why do people claim that Sally Morgan has psychic powers?
It’s psychic ability, not psychic powers.Perhaps people have rationally evaluated the evidence and come to their own conclusions. If people claim to be psychics and mediums why don't they help world find the missing plane MH370 which disappeared in thin air?
I have struck two psychics whom I believe made credible statements. First was a Tantric Buddhist master in Malaysia Dagpa Rimpoche who approached me in 2014 with a vision that he was on a beach when a number of Chinese people walked out of the surf towards him shouting in anguish. They were shouting in Mandarin so he shouted back, English, English, I only speak English. From behind the crowd a man stepped forward who he believed was Zaharie and produced a map explaining their plane went down in the sea southwest of Perth. He explained they were all asleep and only awoke as MH370 was going down in a spiral dive. He said he tried to fight to save the plane but couldn’t.Technically, it may not be accurate that anyone could survive a long hypoxic flight, but what struck me was that he described MH370’s spiral dive long before there was any mention of this in the official investigation of MH370.The second psychic whom I highly commend as accurate was British medium Keith Watson. He said he communicated with the spirits of passengers who told him over and over again that it had something to do with magnets.I quizzed Keith by email. He was entirely unaware of the avionics of a Boeing 777, however there is a back up DC generator on the Boeing 777 called the Permanent Magnetic Drive or PMD Generator which appears from analysis of clues in satellite signal telemetry to have been the only electrical power source on MH370 from 1:21am to 2:25am when power is known to have returned to the Left AC Bus Relay which powered the SDU on MH370.During this phase of electronic darkness the PMG provided DC power to a converter which provided modest AC electrical power for the autopilot.Both men in my opinion had valid psychic insights into MH370 yet both had only fragmentary information.This is the real problem. Why do people pretend to be have psychic powers?
Everyone wants to feel a bit different and special. Some folks are more willing to embarrass themselves than others. Pretending to have some kind of imaginary psychic power must be better for the ego than having nothing at all. You don't even need to try that hard. Just call yourself psychic and shout down anyone who disagrees with you.
How do skeptics explain people who claim to be psychic?
We have known this answer since the 1948 with experiments run by Bertram Forer. It is also called the Barnum effect after PT Barnum. The claims/predictions by psychics, palm readers, Tarot card readers, astrologers and other fortune tellers are made. The person getting the reading fills in the details in their own mind. The person getting the reading makes connections between the psychics comments and other details in their lives. People will look into their life history and make connections with the fortune teller’s readings. The statements are reinterpreted with the connections. This usually results in a positive reading.When I learned about this effect as a Tarot card reader, I tested it out. Originally, I would get positive feedback on my readings all the time. It forms a feedback system. I would get positive readings, therefore I thought I was a successful Tarot card reader. My confidence improved and I gave more successful Tarot card readings. The confidence made a huge difference. To test the Forer effect, I reversed the meanings of the cards. I got the same positive feedback. It is not the exact details of the readings that matter. It is the type of statements made. The statements must be such that one the person getting the reading can make connections with.It is about human psychology, not psychic abilities. One can break it down into two types of readings. Cold readings and hot readings.The sincere psychic is performing cold readings. They know very little about their customer. My Tarot card experience was cold readings. There are cons artists who do hot readings. They find out information about the person getting the reading and use that information in the psychic reading. Other con artists simply know how to perform the cold readings really well. It can be difficult to tell the difference between a sincere psychic and a con artists. Neither one is real, the sincere psychic is simply deluded.As a side note, many psychics report hearing voices but not to the extent that is debilitating like schizophrenics. The ability to hear voices lies on a spectrum ranging from our “thinking” voice to psychics to full fledged mental disorder. The voices are probably the psychics tool just like the Tarot cards was my tool.
Why do people have such prejudice against people with psychic abilities?
what i dont get is when someone posts a question like "how do i get in touch with my psychic abilities?" and some smart alec comes over and gives a smart remark like "well, first you have to get in touch with reality.." Tell me, why the prejudice? Are you bored? Are you jealous? do you just like to pick on people like us because you dont have any other life to do anything else except sit in front of your computer and give smart *** remarks to serious questions? (jsut to let you know thats only directed to said smart alecs)
