Why Do People Leave Stray Dogs

Why is it that only in Kerala people get bitten by stray dogs?

Why is it that only in Kerala people get bitten by stray dogs? The assumption in the question is not correct. Stray dog attacks is a common menace wherever there is a stray dog problem.Once or twice I was attacked(not injured) by stray dogs when I was in Delhi, but I never thought of reporting this to police there. This because I’m conditioned to think that if go to a police station they will mock me for reporting such a “trivial” (मामूली,Mamuli) problem (I have seen police there standing on the road side watching 2 people beat each other up and leave like everyone else after the fight). But in Kerala the story is different. The same “me” if gets attacked by a “Malayali” dog (pun intended), will report the incident to the nearest station and demand them to take some action. Here Police station is more accessible to general public compared to other states . The funny thing is that even if the police is not responsible for Animal control they will tell us about it and call the municipality to report the incident. Now what is happening at other places ?Lucknow : Stray dogs pose major biting hazardNew Delhi: Stray dog attacks: Human rights should come first, NHRC saysBosnia : Former Brisbane player leaves Bosnian club after stray dog attackKolkata and Srinagar:Patna:This is in no way intended to belittle the serious stray dog problem in Kerala. I am sure that Kerala being a front runner in many areas related to Health, Education, Law and order etc. ,will come up with some novel and humane ideas to deal with this problem also.

Why would a stray cat cat only attack men and dogs but leave women and children alone?

Animals, like humans (surprise, humans are animals, too) … can be traumatized.Sometimes a very negative event takes place in the early weeks, or maybe months of young puppets or kitten … especially when they grow up on the street. The simple truth is: if the event is traumatizing enough, it will create a trauma. Leading to all the effects that psychological effect. In other words: probably that specific kitten made really bad experiences with dogs and male humans. This is really nothing special. A friend of hours has two rescue dogs, and one of the two is extremely reserved towards male humans. And we see it with our rescued dog, too. He really loves and trusts us, but never ever will he join us when we walk down the staircase into the cellar, or from the garden into the cellar. And people with walking sticks really scared him initially. Better now, but he is still extremely carefully, even when we meet “stick-people” he knows for years by now.

Stray dog won't leave my house!?

The dog can't leave the yard, the smell of a female in heat is going to keep the poor dog stuck there until the smell passes in 2 or 3 weeks! He may not be the only one either, years ago before spaying was introduced it was normal to have a pack of dogs hanging around the house.
As long as your brother keeps his female intact this is going to happen. Not only that, but she is likely to jump the fence to get out and to the males as well.

If this dog has a collar and tag you can take him home by gently dropping a loop of lead over his neck. But he may turn nasty when you try to take him away from the female, of the owners may not be in. or he may just come back tomorrow.
If he has a microchip a vet can trace his owner.

You seem to think Animal Control will just put him down. Thats just not true.
The point of calling Animal Control is that they can find his owner - they can read the tag or micro chip as they have the scanner - and they will give his owners a lecture to look after him more carefully.

Stray dog won't leave our house?

So, yesterday we were walking our dog. All of a sudden, a stray dog began to follow us. She was a cute dog, but was very frightened. Whenever we tried to pet it, it would run away. We kept on walking after she ran away, but she kept on following us. She followed us all the way home. She tried to go into our yard, but we blocked her way. She whimpered and laid down in the middle of a busy street in front of our house. Cars were beeping like crazy but she would not move, they had to dodge her. We couldn't live with knowing that we let that dog get ran over, so we let her in our yard. But she wouldn't go in, she'd just lay outside our gate. So we just left it alone, but the next day, she was laying right on our doorstep when i went outside to get the mail. It was a bit weird, because it seemed as if she completely transformed over the night because the frightened dog that wouldn't let anyone within 20 feet away from her was whimpering and wagging her tail and jumping on me and licking me. We don't know what to do, because she won't leave our house! We took our dog walking again for about an hour but she followed us the entire way. (We walk our dog around our neighborhood.)

She also has a lot of separation anxiety, like when we go into the house she chews on the door and scratches it. And whenever we go near the car she'll start whimpering and will try to go inside with us. We're thinking she was probably abandoned by a owner that didn't want her anymore. I don't wanna just leave her on the streets again but having 3 dogs, we cannot keep her. She is deathly scared of anything or anyone that isn't me, my sister, or my two brothers. Our local SPCA has no room to take her in, the adoption rates having gone down rapidly, so we're basically in a pickle. Any tips on how to get this dog to leave our house?

oh and please do not suggest to shoot the dog. That is out of the question, I would never do that to a dog. Ever.

Stray dog won't leave my house?

I would put out a bowl with some food and water. Then I would go out and buy a small bag of dog food and leave that outside in a bowl for a few days. As well as fresh water each day.

Just put the food and water out then go back inside. The dog will approach the food and water on his/her own time.

With a few days of this you can try being outside while he/she eats. Then close the distance over a few days. Soon you will increase the trust while helping the dog to get healthier. Before long you might have yourself a new family friend and he/she will finally have a home again. If you are unwilling to offer the dog a home, you could call a rescue group and see if they would be willing to foster the dog. Try not to let it die. Try not to let it end up in a shelter where dogs get killed if they are not picked by a new family in a reasonable timeframe. Rescue groups are often more patient and more able to train a stray to be a good match for a new family.

How to get a stray dog in heat to leave my yard??!?

So, It's been really hot lately and there's this poor girl running around in heat with like 8 dogs humping her, and I left out a bit of water for her.
Now she's hanging out on my porch with her troop staying with her, and I need her to leave without having to resort to the water hose, because that is just cruel!
I tried to lock her out of the fence, but she squeezed through the bar, got stuck, and nearly broke it before I went out to help x(
Help me please! My parents aren't animal people, and I don't want them to see a zoo in our yard and porch when they get home!
I'd call animal control, but I don't think they're there at this hour! ://

How do I save stray dogs from a BMC dog van?

According to the Supreme Court of India, no stray dog can be removed/relocated from his street (unless the dog is rabies-infected). The dog van can be called upon by anyone but only for the vaccination and sterilisation purposes. They will pick the dogs up, give them the mentioned treatment and return tye dogs in the same colony. But sometimes some fake people can also come and pick these dogs up and kill them. These are not the Municipal office people.Hence always ask for the person’s identity card, click its photograph, the vehicle’s number plate, ask him for a token. A token will be issued for each dog that they take and will be given to the person who called the van, or to the nearest house from where they pick the dog.Use that token to enquire about the status of the dog. If you feel something is not right, make sure to call the municipal office and enquire. So you should not try to hide them, or stop them as they are here only to treat them. Just make sure a dog killer isn’t posing as a municipal animal aid van, okay. And yes if the dog is already vaccined or sterilised, no one can legally even touch the dog. Just show them the dog’s papers. Thanks and good luck.!

Stray dog won't leave my driveway what do I do?

Long story

I got a dog a few months back, previous owners told me she wasn't spayed and they told me that they would get me her vet records. They still haven't given my the records so I decided to go to the vet anyways to get her spayed, The vet told me without her records she'll need to be vaccinated with shots.

OK fine, just recently she went into heat, a few days after her final round of shots. She is out of heat now and I have a spay scheduled soon, But there is a stray dog on my driveway, and he is determined to get inside my yard, I called the local shelter and they refuse to take him in cause they think he'll just go home after my dog is out of heat which she already is. I don't know what to do its a very Large lab/dane mix. He starts to dig under my fence if he sees my small Pomeranian, It would probably kill her if they mated so I can't let my dog out at all.He has been here for days. Local kids have been throwing rocks at him and no one even cares. I'm at a loss what to do.

Short Story,

My dog in heat attracted a stray, shelter doesn't want to take him. And he won't leave.

A (friendly) stray dog seems to like me and won't leave me alone! What can I do?

I was walking to the grocery store to... well, get groceries. It was closed, though. Along the way this dog starts following me. The dog is dirty, has no collar, looks to be of a healthy weight (I can't be sure, that could be the fur) and looks like a generally friendly dog. He might be sick, though (I can't imagine why else he'd be abandoned), so I'm not taking any chances. He smelled me, then kept following me while wagging his tail pretty quickly. I decided to just ignore him after that. Aside from looking where I was going, I barely looked at him at all. I also decided against feeding him, because then he'd keep coming back. It's been three hours since that, and the dog is still outside. What can I do to get rid of him without harming him? Keeping him is out of the question, as there's already a possibly pregnant rabbit and a hamster in the house, so the rule against dogs (I'm still 14 years old) goes double. Thanks in advance!
