Why Do People Look At Me When I Walk With Brand Clothes

Why do most rich people wear simple clothes, and why do people who are not very rich tend to dress more exoticly?

I had a professor once who did a lot of research on this. All people attempt to impress their neighbors to some extant. There finances depend on what they can do and how they will do it. This is oversimplification, but his research basically showed the following.Poor people impress by what they wear— clothes, bling, etc. That is because they cannot afford to display in any other way.Middle class people impress by what they drive— A trendy car, or maybe a boat or a bunch of motorized “toys” like four wheelers. They can afford the “bling” but don’t want to look poor. However, they can’t afford to radically change their lifestyle to show off.Upper Middle Class and Wealthy people impress by either where they live or where they go— Some live in nice show houses in trendy neighborhoods. Some are the “millionaire next door” types that live in a regular house, but take a trip to Europe or the Amazon each year. Having an expensive car won’t impress any of their neighbors but they can’t afford to have a college named after them.Very wealthy people try to impress by what they do. The wealthiest like to have buildings named after them, like Carnegie Hall or the Geffen School of Medicine. Think about it. What could Bill Gates or Warren Buffet wear or dive that would make anyone more impressed. Help develop internet access for all the libraries in the US (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) or buy ABC Television and General Motors (Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway) and you have something. There are some theorists that say this effect actually works in the other direction. Poor people stay poor because they spend money on “bling” instead of saving for a decent vehicle. The trendy vehicles the middle class drive are usually too expensive, lose value and are bought with interest payments. This actually stops the middle class from becoming wealthy. The Upper Middle Class and Wealthy people end up spending too much in upkeep and property taxes on their homes. These people would say that the very wealthy became that way because they wae not concerned about how other people see their clothes, vehicle and home and concentrate on doing important things.Something interesting to think about.

Why do people shop online for clothing? Is it not easier to walk into a store, try it on, and then buy it?

I’ll buy anything on-line except clothing. Folks here say if you find the right size in a particular clothing line, then just order the same size.WRONG! Say you’re shopping for jeans. I have found the exact same size as one pair to not fit another. Shoes, too. I found some Keds (light running shoes) at Goodwill. Loved the fit. Went on-line to buy two more pair of same size in different colors. No, they were not the same fit at all. Both pairs were slightly wider than the first pair (which had no visible wear even on the soles). Somewhere within a couple of months, they changed the way they made the exact same model of shoe. Why?I carry a list of brands and sizes when I shop. If I find the same brand/size and try it on, it’s not the same as the ones I already own.Sizing Charts: Don’t make me freaking laugh. I take my measurements (depressing, but it is what it is). The size charts are off two sizes for waist and three sizes for hips. There is no size that fits both on me. It all depends on the rise. A lot of the time, women’s pants don’t even specify the rise. Leg length? Wow, every woman must be 6′ tall. Why should I have to hem up 2–3″ to get the right length?Sizes vary from one manufacturer to another. I have pants in my closet ranging from 6 to 10 which all fit pretty much the same. What do I look for in a brand I don’t already own? For that matter, the size I have in the closet isn’t even close to the size of similar item at the store.I’ve ordered everything from computer parts to books to aquarium parts from on-line sources. No problem. I have NEVER found clothing on-line that is the same as the identical item I’ve got at home. Never.

Why do Asian people love brand name/designer clothes?

I didn't go further in my statement about the "typical skinny Asian", so I apologize if you were offended. What I really meant "skinny" was a border-line anorexic body which I myself used to have. I was so skinny, it was not attractive. I had to wear two shirts to make myself look normal. Thankfully my metabolism slowed down and now at a healthy weight.

And to GossipGirlGuru, no I have not read Gossip Girl because I'm an old 18 year old guy.

When are you "too old" to wear Aeropostale clothing?

I am a 22 year old male and I mainly shop for clothing at Aeropostale and American Eagle. I have been wearing these brands since I was about 17 and I still do. Lately, I have been feeling like I am outgrowing this style of clothing, it looks a little teenager-ish. I look young for my age and my friends have told me it looks good on me, or like I can pull it off but I am still not sure. Would you recommend I switch to another brand of clothing, and if so, what are some suggestions you might have? Thanks!

How do i look rich? all people please answer!!!?

you dont have to buy name brand clothing or anything, just wear clean clothes, maintain good hygiene and keep a straight posture. good etiquette and an eloquent speech helps, too.

thats if you wanna look like a rich old geezers like you see in the wamu commercials. if you wanna look like a rich gangsta rapper, then wear some bling here and there like chains with midgets hangin on em, foil up your teeth, walk around with a posse and go YEAAAAAUUHHH all the time :P

Why do people care what I wear?

If other people make fun of your clothes, try not to let it bother you. You wear what makes YOU comfortable. It is your money after all. If name brands are their style, then woopity doo for them. If name brands aren't your thing, then embrace that. It's good to stand out from other people who only follow after what someone else is doing. Just rest in the fact that while they spent their entire paycheck at the mall and cant afford to get basic needs such as food for themselves or for their kids if they have any, or even pay bills, youre at home with food in your refrigerator, AND clothes in your closet with money left to save. Don't let other people fool you with their mistakes. You're shopping style is what is keeping money in your pocket. Also, I'm not saying to think of yourself as better than someone else because of your shopping style because some people have a very bad habit of spending too much money. But just know that you are making good decisions with your money if you'd rather purchase apparel that is not designer.
