Why Do People Not Like Dutch People

Why do people hate the dutch?

Especially the Germans. At my school we have the SWEETEST Germans come to our school and they are all really nice, but i heard something i never expected. They themselves are not racist per say, but they legitimately hate the dutch. why?? i do not have dutch ancestry and i do not know any of the stereotypes, but why do so many people hate the dutch??

personally i don't find their culture interesting, like i would never make an effort to go to Amsterdam, it just doesn't appeal to me. perhaps if i ACTUALLY went there, i would enjoy myself, but i wouldn't pay money. i much rather go somewhere else. that's just how i feel personally. their culture and language just doesn't interest me and I LOVE WORLD CULTURE.

anyway why do so many people hate the dutch??

SORRY IF I OFFENDED YOU

What are Dutch people like?

What are Dutch people like?Well, generalising is always wrong, but my general idea is:Pretty much to themselves or at least their own ‘inner circle’Helpful, most are glad to help when asked nicely‘Down to earth’, we have a sort of no-nonsense mentality, we don’t believe something just because it’s written or said by some prominent figure. If it doesn’t sound logical to us, we’ll dismiss it! (possibly one of the main reasons there are so many atheists among us)We try to be efficient and thus also always want to find the best price for something. Might be why some call us ‘cheap’We have a strong conviction that we can ‘say what we want’, as long that doesn’t insults others this is also law in this countryWe don’t just do what we’re told. A Dutch saying states that quite illustrous: ‘Ik heb geen baas; ik ben geen hond… honden hebben een baas’ (I don’t have a boss, I’m not a dog… dogs have bosses) Therefore probably people who’d you call boss, are normally called ‘Leidinggevende’ on paper meaning literally lead-giver.Some call us/ourselves tolerant, but in my experience people just don’t care about much which doesn’t concern them and their inner circle (leading back to my first point)International, as in most visit other countries and speak 2 languages (many even 3 or 4)More timid than most other nationalities I have met, bragging is ‘not done’This one is really my own opinion: we’re polite but informal, as in we hold doors open for people coming after us, pick up something another has dropped, clean up our own mess, but rarely use the polite ‘u’ form of ‘je’(you) when we talk to strangers. IMO behaviour is more important than ‘respectful’ speech. All of these are not applicable to every Dutchman, rather based on my own experience, from witnessing and also by knowing more cultures than just the Dutch one.As probably applies to anyone anywhere, you get treated the way you treat others. And everywhere there are some rude and unfriendly people. (Best to filter those out and avoid contact.)

Why are some dutch people so arrogant?

I just moved here in Holland and I cannot help but notice plenty of arrogant people here, sure not all are rude but some are just plain rude... It is not my fault that I get to be here and not learn the language yet. Some just annoyingly ask me "what the hell am I doing in this country if I cannot even speak their language.." or "they do not need stupid immigrants" First of all, I have only been here for two months, second I am still learning the dutch language.

I find some dutch people so rude, I wonder why they hate immigrants that much? I am also starting to hate this place, sure they are nice to tourists but I do not understand why they have to be such a racist?

Why are Dutch people so rude and critical of the UK?

I think you misunderstand the general attitude of the Dutch.
We are, as a rule, very open and will often comment in a way that foreigners take as insulting or at least negative. But we are the same about our own country and any others, it is not something aimed at the UK.

The Dutch I know are more positive and less negative about the UK as the English I know, and I know a lot of English people who are very negative about their own countries politics, schooling, medical care, small shops and so on.

I do personally love England, (I have not been often enough in Scotland and Wales to claim love, but I did like it their too,) but I have to admit it is not perfect. But neither is my own country, nor any other I have ever been or seen.

I'd say, do not take it personally and if people are rude about your country in your opinion, tell them you do not like that attitude. Most Dutch will not be insulted and will respect you for it.
I agree that they should not have insulted the UK in the first place, but then again, I think you take a persons limited English and open attitude as attack where it is meant to be friendly different opinion.

Why do Dutch people not from Holland still refer to their country as 'Holland', instead of the Netherlands?

First let me explain the difference about The Netherlands and Holland. The Netherlands is our country as a whole which consists out of twelve provinces: Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe, Overijssel, Flevoland, Gelderland, Utrecht, North-Holland, South-Holland, Zealand, North Brabant and Limburg.Holland compromises the two provinces North-Holland and South-Holland. The major cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague) are located in these two provinces. Why do we (Dutch people) refer to our country as Holland? This is because many foreigner don’t know that Holland is only a part of The Netherlands. When I say Holland they know exactly which country I am talking about. When I say The Netherlands, some don’t even know what that is.A picture I took of my city Enschede here in The Netherlands.http://www.internationalstudents...

Do the native Dutch people smoke a lot of weed? what's the percentage of those who do?

The "native" Dutch people are usually just called the Dutch--you make them sound like aliens! ;-)

Realize that pot is not legal in the Netherlands. It is only tolerated in Amsterdam. It is not that common outside of Amsterdam. Outside the city, you will be prosecuted for possession.

That said, even the natives in Amsterdam do engage in smoke, I doubt that there are any studies on how many. Their habits are different than the tourists. I have observed many come into the hash bars at lunch hour and after work to make a purchase, but they don't stay in the bar to indulge its more like "carry out" and they go home with their purchases. That is if they are middle aged types. The younger types do indulge in the bars...frequently, it seems to me, in preparation for some activity elsewhere.

You should not get the idea that the entire nation goes around stoned all the time. Its not like that...only the tourists to Amstedam do that.

Do Dutch people hate all Muslims?

Dutch people don't hate Muslims for their religion but they do dislike emigrants from Muslim countries (such as Turkey and Morocco) for parasitism on the country's social system and pushing their religion as the main reason for not fitting into the society. Muslims are Judo-phobic, they are homophobic (The Netherlands is the 1st country in the world to recognize gay marriage), Muslim women have a strict dress-code (I don't know how is it in Canada, but in my home town I see some of them look as if they were transported in the time-machine from the Middle Ages) etc. - and it's always because there is something written in their Holy Book or because it's their old tradition. The huge problem are young people who want neither study nor work but to break the law, organize street bands and assault people.

Dutch people don't hate foreigners, I know that because I am a foreigner myself. They won't hate you for being a Muslim. What they will hate it's an antisocial behaviour and disrespect to their values.
