Did anyone find House of Cards boring?

It was boring to me as it is not the type of Series which I generally watch. There is much talking , no action and also comedy in the Show.First, I was interested to watch House of Cards. But as soon as I started watching it, first episode went well. But, second with somewhat difficulty but completed it anyway. In case of third episode I could not complete it. So, I thought to start another one so I did it. I was able to complete this show but could not resume House of Cards. If you like politics, drama, conspiring you can watch it interestingly. Otherwise, just do not give a thought to watch it.

Why is House of Cards so popular?

House of Cards was already a successful franchise in the U.K..  Its success was a foregone conclusion. The producers got Kevin Spacey and some very talented people on it.  They made a big advertising push for it.  Because it's a good show that fits the times, it would have been popular, no matter if it had been on Netflix, Cable, or Network.  But the Netflix format is the future of Television.  It's extremely convenient and instantly accessible.  It collects revenue without commercials.  It's difficult to pirate.  There were other Netflix-exclusive shows before House of Cards, but they were just prototypes testing the waters.  House of Cards was the first attempt to ambitiously use the format to its potential.  The spectacle of the format brought in new viewers-- and the quality of the show kept them watching and wanting more.  Congratulations to Netflix for such an astute and foresighted business strategy.

Why is “House of Cards” so good?

Thanks for A2A.In 2013:Friend: Dude, you gotta watch House of Cards. It's really interesting show.Me: Okay, I'll check.Since I love to watch TV shows, I checked the details of House of Cards on IMDb. I was quite impressed after ratings and reviews. But then I read that it's political drama. I had zero interest and knowledge in politics. So, I got quite disappointed. Anyways, I started the first episode.First few minutes: Oh crap! Some old guy wearing suspenders speaking quickly about some president-elect and all. I'm not going to watch this show. After few minutes: Okay! Understanding political game is not my cup of coffee. After watching half episode, I left watching the series and forgot about it.In between 2013 and 2015, I took some interest in political affairs. In 2015, I searched for political drama TV shows and House of Cards popped up as first result in search. So I started watching it again from the beginning of first episode. Now that I was aware about political system of US, all that Frank Underwood was saying made sense to me. One after another episode went and I binge-watched the series. After completion of 5 seasons of HoC, I can say that it is the best TV show I've ever watched. The reason why it is so interesting is non other than Kevin Spacey. His acting made this series so interesting.

How good is the television series "House of Cards"?

House of Cards is a very good TV Series with intelligent Direction and very great storyline. It is total classy TV series that does not back down on money issue. You should know that it is one of the costliest shows of Netflix. In this, the main attraction is that President Francis Underwood is a mean, self serving, selfish son of a bitch. But we love him, we want him to be the president even when we know that he dlis disgusting. You can never get out of that feeling. He has blood on his hands by Killing many people but then they keep on reminding us about those murders and even then we are compelled to love Francis Underwood. That's how good the story is. I highly recommend watching it, if you're into politics. If you are not into politics but want to know how the democracy runs in United States, you can watch this show. There are so many quotes in this show that feel absolutely true but very wrong with respect to moral values. I will give 9/10 for this great show.

How good is House of Cards? Would you recommend it?

House of Cards follows several characters involved in the political scene in Washington D.C., including politicians of various rank and influence (Kevin Spacey is a House Majority Whip in the House of Representatives) and an upcoming reporter played brilliantly by Kate Mara, who you may recognize from the first season of American Horror Story. The cast in uniformly excellent and thrives under Fincher's direction. Occasionally, Kevin Spacey's character will talk directly to the camera and offer some narration, which is the only area where the show stumbles, but it isn't too distracting. Speaking of Fincher's direction, it shouldn't come as any surprise to know that House of Cards looks great. The atmosphere is moody and resembles a tone somewhere between The Game and The Social Network. The music is equally good, complementing the mood of the show without becoming overbearing.Being a political drama, one could be understandably weary of taking the plunge into a 13 episode season if they don't find politics interesting, but that shouldn't be a concern. The writing is sharp, engaging and clear, and the characters are interesting and well developed. The editing helps: it is tight and keeps the plot moving briskly, making the political intrigue both exciting and easy to follow.Netflix has really created something impressive with House of Cards. When hearing that an online streaming service was creating an original show, some may have been concerned that it would be cheap looking and generally not on par with what AMC, FX, Showtime, and HBO are offering. Well, Netflix got some talented people and gave them the money to make something good, and the product speaks for itself. House of Cards comes highly recommended.

What movie or TV show do you think is overrated? Why?

AvatarI remember the hype for this movie. When it came out back in 2009, nearly everyone was giving it rave reviews. Everyone I knew who’d seen it had loved it.And then it became the highest-grossing movie of all time.Once that happened, I had to know. I had to know what kind of masterpiece had entranced audiences enough to bring them to the theatres in record numbers and shatter the mark set by Titanic (another movie I’d say is overrated, by the way) as the highest-grossing movie of all-time. I had to experience for myself the cinematic wonder that had made audiences around the world froth at the mouth, shout in hysterics, jump up and down and scream for joy. Then I watched it.And it was boring.Granted, it’s been a while since I saw it. But sitting there with my best friend, watching this movie, I was bored out of my mind. The story is cliche, and nearly impossible to get invested in. It’s stuff we’ve seen a million times in a million different movies. I mean, sure, it looked nice: the CGI was really well done, groundbreaking even. But there was nothing there to connect to story-wise, and even the world of Pandora wasn’t all that imaginative. It was just a jungle planet with some blue people on it. That was pretty much it.Oh, and also…they named the hard-to-find, super-valuable substance…unobtainium? Really? That sounds like something from a Bugs Bunny cartoon, not a multi-million dollar blockbuster.Sorry, that’s always just gotten to me.But yeah. Avatar, conpletely overrated. It might look nice, but its story is nothing that hasn’t been done a million times before.

What makes "House of Cards" so addictive? How can those qualities be replicated in other TV shows?

House of Cards gives the people who don't normally care about politics an insight into what may go on behind closed doors of the white house. The really good script and the lines keep the show on the top shows of 2014. With Barack Obama tweeting to request for no spoilers during the season 2 Netflix premier. And finally the star and producer Kevin Spacey; He is at his best in the  show. Conniving, charming and ruthless. Robin Wright as Clair Underwood is spectacular, elegant and poised but as ruthless as her husband makes the best  partner in crime. Their team and the shows' unpredictable plot is what makes the show addictive and makes it one of the shows i love!
