Why Do People Say The Cost Of Living Is High In Ca When It Costs More To Live In The Midwest

Why is the Cost of Living so high in Blue States?

Taxes. Pure and simple .. that and overspending on needless things. That is why the Liberal TIME Magazine says all states are trying to be like Texas. Ask yourself how can Tony Romo of the Cowboys be the highest paid QB in the NFL? Simple. He pays less taxes.

Why Texas Is Our Future
It's not an accident that three of the five fastest growing cities are in Texas. It's more like destiny

There's a bumper sticker sometimes seen around the state that proclaims, I WASN'T BORN IN TEXAS, BUT I GOT HERE AS FAST AS I COULD. As the U.S. heads toward Texas, literally and metaphorically, it's worth understanding why we're headed there — both to see the pitfalls ahead and to catch a glimpse of the opportunities that await us if we make the journey in an intelligent fashion.

Why do wealthy people live in places with such high cost of living?

A lot of New York City residents treat their home as a place to sleep and store their clothes. They live, work, eat, and socialize outside. NYC has far more places for that than a Midwestern town.Silicon Valley has a thousand places to work (if you are in one of the silicon professions). That means more employment opportunities than a Midwestern town, and lots of security -- if one job ends, a Silicon Valley resident can get the next job quickly. Also, a lot of people (wherever they live) have interests that are in the long tail of interests. For instance, I like to play chess. Only a few people per thousand play chess. There are more chess players in an eight-million-person city than a one-million-person city. If your quirky interests are the kind that aren't hugely popular, and do require many people, your chances of fulfilling them are larger in a city.

Is it worth living in California? Why is this house so expensive?

So i was checking houses for sale in California just out of curiosity and i saw a two bedroom one bath house that was pretty small and it cost 460k dollars!!!! That is outrageous i honestly don't think its even worth living there because you can get so much nicer living places any where else and very nice places and it would be a fraction of the cost

Why do people live in trailer parks? It's cheaper to live in an apartment?

If you own your trailer, it can be very cheap (you just rent the land you sit on). Trailers are far less expensive than houses, especially when used, so it's possible to own your home and just pay a small amount of land rent. That makes trailers less expensive than apartments, in many cases.

Trailers are autonomous -- you don't have to share walls or floors with anyone, and some nosey landlord can't just enter at will the way they often can with apartments. If your TV is turned up too loud, nobody is going to complain. If you have a party at a normal volume level, nobody's going to phone the police.

Oh, and think about it this way. You buy a cheap used trailer for say, $12,000. You buy a plot of land in Middle-of-Nowhere, Hawaii for $20,000. That's $32,000 for a multi-room dwelling with a bathroom, and you own it all outright -- a home in paradise that even conforms to the building (HUD) codes! And you never need to pay rent again.

You can move at will. Just pay for the relocation of the trailer and you're set -- no need to mess with boxes and suitcases.

Trailers actually make a great deal of sense depending on your lifestyle. I don't see why there's so much social stigma attached to them. They're essentially little, narrow houses built on a wheeled platform.

Is it possible to move to California from the Midwest with a family? The cost of living there is higher, so how do others adjust?

It all depends on WHERE in California. In central California the cost of living is lower, the commute is shorter, housing is more affordable but the work opportunities are fewer. If you want to live on or near the water be prepared to need 33–50% higher income than you have in the Midwest if you want to live in a comparable neighborhood. The compensation is higher but often times not enough to off set the higher cost of living - gas, time in traffic, food, entertainment and entertainment opportunities, etc. Being able to speak Spanish is also helpful!
