Hate is a strong word in this context. I think it would be more appropriate to say some people feel uneasy using a dynamic and ever-changing platform as Fedora, they even call it a “bleeding edge” platform.I have been using Fefora even before the project started, when it was known as Red Hat Linux (not the same as RHEL), which gave birth to Fedora Core, thence to be Fedora. I used CentOS, RHEL and SUSE and should say that I am most happy with Fedora.Fedora has a very supportive community. The platform is dynamic and releases are frequent (every 6 months), which means updates are frequent and more hardware gets supported by each release. But it also means that things tend to get broken, like updating the OS to find that your touchpad is acting drunken. Those things happen almost with every major release but they are usually discovered early on. By the time you arrive there someone would have already filed a bug, found a workaround or posted a solution. You will not waste a lot of time pulling your hair out.I am also a Fedora packager. Fedora is the mother and provider of most RPM based systems including the glorious RHEL. Fedora contributes more open source software packages than most other platforms. Fedora is the only platform that keeps up (really up) with the latest kernel patches from upstream. That means you get all the goodies, patches and security enhancements before most others even wake up from sleep.So there you have it. People who hate Fedora are probably intimidated by its power. They should not. She is friendly and easy to work with once you know your way around. Sure she has her quirks, but who doesn’t?
