Yeah, it's totally normal. The PS3 is not only plugged into a wall and is receiving energy, but it's constantly keeping up the audio, video, etc. A PS3 is like a computer. Computers heat up in a matter of seconds.

it's probably the environment that you are in. it's hot. you should turn up the a/c or open a window so that there will be ventilation. you should also drink plenty of water so that you can replace the fluids that you lost through sweat. sweating also helps you to cool.

It doesn't matter in fact it's probably better its blowing cool air because that means its not overheating. If it gets too hot you will hear the fan start to cycle faster and then the air will get warmer. This is only if you leave it on for a while. It will do no damage to your console though.

I would say the super slim. I've owned multiple of the other 2 but only 1 super slim. The original PS3 isn't worth your money, you'll have it a couple of months then the YLOD will mentally kill you or your motherboard will mess up, or the disc 'tray' will break (don't know what to call it, as it just slides in :D) so many problems with this console that they should all be sledgehammered.the slim was the console that should have been released first, even if we had to wait a little longer for it. It was way better but still had many, many faults, many of them were still the same. I had to buy a fan for the slim because the overheating was overwhelming. I also had the same problem with the disc 'tray'.but the super slim, the only way the disc tray could break is if you did it yourself. I didn't have one problem with it and I had it for 2 years. Well, it didn't come on one time but that was because of the power cable, which I replaced after of course. That was the longest I ever had a PS3 for. The others lasted probably 1 year max lol.If your actually considering buying a PS3 then deffo the super slim. I'd rather spend that money for the PS3 on a PS1, won't last as long but the nostalgia is incredible, always get goosebumps

Each game in general is at least 6GB in size, so you can imagine.But in case you want to save cash now, and buy HDD after few months you can do this. You will need a 2.5-inch laptop internal hard drive, with minimum 3.0 GBPS SATA speed, and 5400 RPM. Is it normal for the Ps3 Super Slim to get hot on the bottom?
I keep mine standing vertically on the vertical stand and I notice that after about 15-30 minutes of play it starts to heat up. Then after about an hour or two it gets hot. Is this normal? I mean I don't think it's overheating because the fan doesn't speed up or anything. And also I keep the window open and have the ceiling fan on so that should be enough ventilation, right? I just don't understand why it's getting hot if I'm keeping the room ventilated. Anyway, I just want to know if anyone is experiencing this and if their console encountered any malfunctions.
