Why Do Some Games Require More Ram If Your On Windows Vista

Is Windows XP faster than Windows Vista?

It depends on the computer processor and the memory size in your computer as well as the vista and XP category
Vista has variety of choices

Vista Basic edition 32 bit .... smaller in size and requires
lesser requirements, faster

Vista 64 bit edition ..... medium size, requires
medium PC hardware specs
can be fast or slow depending
on old pc or new pc processor
and the memory size

Vista Enterprise Edition ...... large size, requires higher
hardware requirements for
additional enterprise built in
multi-user corporate
environment capable of multi-
user/ multi-task

as for XP it depends on the category too, according to Thoo

Why do people keep saying Linux is faster than Windows 10?

Linux is not “faster”.Linux is not bloated indeed.Linux is system which do exactly what you want to do, without running whole bunch of services you don’t need.Windows is adware and bloatware (recently they started to preinstall games…). If your CPU spending time on displaying ads, installing adware programs in background, scanning your drives (Antimalware Service Executable) and each one of application you run has own updater and installer, getting reports, analytics - what we’re talking about? Windows is not “slower”. Windows is spending your time for tasks you don’t need, which implicates that task you actually need will require more time.Windows is spending your CPU cycles for meaningless jobs (meaningless for you, but cost-effective for a company). Linux doesn’t have such interests, so you have a full control what your computer do, and your CPU will be more “concentrated” on task you actually do.Philosophy that comes from Linux (many of you can name it “ideology”, I don't object) is the question “who serves your operating system”. In Windows case, it serves Microsoft company and bunch of other companies that has common interests with MS, and your machine is in their hands. Linux serves the user, especially user and only user.No ads, no bloatware, no remote installs, just apps you need and nothing else.Due to fact that Linux is younger, it's a younger market. Most of games has no Linux versions.I'm using dual-boot configuration due to that. You can also install Windows on external hard drive and use it for games only.

Steven: Will a laptop with 500MB RAM be able to run vista?

It's possible

But I wouldn't recommend it

As of now, which operating system is the best for gaming?

Windows 7 64-bit Professional/Ultimate.At present, no game requires the Windows 10 optimisations for performance yet (though this will eventually change, and some games may already run faster now). Between Win 7’s native 64 bit support, emulated 32 bit support, and ability to run 16 bit software using a Windows XP mode embedded in the OS, you can run all Windows era programs off this, DOS era programs off DosBox, and then Playstation games off ePSXe (PSX) and PCSX2 (PS2), while most PS4 games will also have playable ports due to it having PC-like system architecture.Performance wise you are stuck with i.7–6700K as the most powerful supported chip as Kaby Lakes and later will support only Windows 10. Most other things - GPU, etc will remain compatible. Win 7 is already capable of using more RAM than games require (while even Vista had issues), and already contains SSD optimisations. Windows 7 is also capable of using up to DirectX 11.Windows 7 is the end of the era when PCs can run everything. Compatibility issues plague all successive generations (as this forces people to upgrade) and the OSes before that were all lacking in firepower. It may be worth keeping a copy even in future to run as an alternate boot, even after things have progressed sufficiently far for a Windows 10 or later transition to be justifiable.

Is 2GB of RAM good enough for gaming?

If you have the option and can afford it, the 4GB option would be better. Typically the more RAM, the better speed and performance your computer will have. Nowadays adding extra RAM is usually not too expensive, so I'd say to go ahead and add the extra RAM.

However, a 2GB system could also perform quite well if you also have a good graphics card, a fast hard-drive as well as tweaking and adjusting various Windows settings that can help improve speed and performance as well.
