Why Do Some Humans Like To Walk In A Circle With Their Hands Crossed Behind Their Back

How do you get your dog to walk behind you?

LOL No I agree 85# dog is not anything like a bunny haha

First, forget that pack leader mobo jumbo. It's just a bunch of crap Cesar uses to sell his things.

You do not have to walk in front of your dog. Your dog walking beside you is perfectly acceptable.

As for the hyperness, all dogs get that way when they know it's time for a walk. Tell her sit. Until she sits and stays still, you don't leash her. She'll eventually catch on she needs to sit to go on a walk.

Why, when blindfolded, do humans have a tendency to walk in circles?

When people are blindfolded they tend to walk in circles. There has been many theories such as the difference of stride in one leg, due to being even millimetres different in length. The strength in a predominant leg, depending if the person is left or right handed. And the theories continue. The theory that makes most sense to me is; when blindfolded there are no external reference points to guide a person. If a person's senses tell them they are walking in a straight line, yet with each step there is even a slight deviation in the direction of the step it is plausible to walk in a circle. This doesn't happen without a blindfold because the person will use an external marker such as a building or large tree to correct their path.

Why do police officers keep their hands on their belt when talking to you?

Got to put them somewhere. Sometimes you’ve got a pen in one hand and a pad in the other. Sometimes a flashlight. But if they’re empty, you can hang them at your sides, rest them on your belt, or cross them over your chest. Any more? We were taught to take a “bladed” stance, left foot forward, right foot back, right hand resting on the belt with the elbow or forearm on top of the service weapon on the side away from the interviewee. (That’s if you’re right-handed.) That makes it harder for them to get to your gun from the front, and more difficult for anybody coming from behind to get it because your arm’s on top of it. And contrary to Mike Edgar’s answer, it actually conceals the weapon, rather than displaying it, so, so much for that. That position gives you some stability for writing and if the guy makes an aggressive move, you’ve got less distance to counter, and you can throw the pad in his face, step backward, kick, strike, or whatever from that stance. That’s the theory, anyway.Americans tend to assume this stance generally in conversation, getting into the normal social distance, blading slightly, and talking past each other. Other cultures may get much closer, try to talk head on and don’t get why you keep backing away sideways. This can be quite amusing when you watch somebody trying to interview a recent immigrant from one of these cultures, the two of them, going around in a little circle. As for the hands, you want them right there, where they’re of some use to you if you need to push away, strike, go for equipment, or just cover vital areas.

Is it bad luck to walk by a black cat or does the cat have to walk past you?

PLEASE NOTE: This is not directed at you, the person asking the question, but at what happens because of negative beliefs about black cats. Please read and pass this on. Thank you.Cats being attributed to bad luck originated in the European Middle Ages where people and the inquisition acuused midwives and women, that were herbalists, of witchcraft. They often times accused the cats these poor wretches kept to catch mice of being familiars and burned the cats along side their owners. It became so horrendous in the Middle Ages that cats and these poor women, amoung many others falsely accused of witchcraft, diminished significantly in Europe. The cat population became so small that Europe became overrun with rats carrying the Bubonic Plague or what was called The Black Death. Ignorance and superstition, along with a huge population of rats carrying these deadly fleas, decimated the European population because of the virulent plague it produced.Along with this belief, the color black represented evil to the ignorant and uneducated people and clergy and produced a “double whammy” for black cats. These poor kitties were considered ESPECIALLY EVIL since they were cats with black fur. This superstition was carried to modern times along with the number thirteen that was considered bad luck since the 13th apostle was Judas, the betrayer of Christ. You see where I am going with this. Black cats are NOT BAD LUCK!Each year at Halloween black cats are not given away at places like the SPCA since some SICK TWIST will torture and kill a black kitty.I will share a story: My cousin-in-law in California rescued a black kitty that was tortured on Halloween. Some evil person took a firecracker and inserted it in this poor innocent black stray. He lost an eye, a paw and his tail. The kitty lived and Marca took him in. My parents-in-law adopted Budley and he had a wonderful life and was well taken care of; however, he had trust issues for the remainder of his sweet life. Go figure! In closing, the only BAD LUCK that is coming, is coming for people who mistreat black cats. Karma catches up with everyone that abuse the innocent!

On which side (right/left) should pedestrians walk on a footpath?

There are a few widely accepted guidelines about pedestrian safety (I am paraphrasing here):1. If footpath is on both sides of the road, then you can walk on either of those.2. If the footpath is on only one side of the road, pedestrians moving in either direction should prefer to walk on the footpath.3. If the footpath is not available on either side, in that case walk in against the traffic direction on the side of the road.As reflected in these guidelines, laws restricting the movement of pedestrians are uncommon (With a few exceptions as Harshad correctly pointed out). Generally direction of pedestrian movement does mimic the traffic direction. However it has more to do with intuition of walking farther away from the traffic than conciously following the traffic direction, especially when you are walking with your back towards traffic.@Swapnil: I think this can answer your question regarding what would happen in case of 50-50 distribution. For example - guidelines by Delhi Traffic Police suggest ( http://www.delhitrafficpolice.ni... ), Where possible, to avoid walking next to the kerb with your back to the traffic. The government of Hawaii also suggests the use of right half of crosswalk ( http://hawaii.gov/dot/highways/s... ).

Why do people walk around when talking on their mobile phone?

We all do unconscious moves when we are talking on the phone with somebody. Some people draw scribbles, others play around with whatever they find around them – a pen, a lighter, a box, any sort of random item. Most people, however, just start pacing back and forth whenever they are talking with somebody on the other line. The reason is whenever we’re having a conversation with a person, who is right in front of us, we are used to getting “feedback” from that person – hand gestures, body postures, and facial expressions. All of those things express different emotions and we can clearly see what the person in front of us has to say about different topics. On the other hand, when we’re talking on the phone, we don’t really get this type of physical “feedback”.Thus, our own body reacts to the lack of visual feedback by simply making unconscious moves. We often don’t even register them, but we still perform them. By pacing back and forth the emotions that we feel are actually transferred into a physical action. In a way, the back and forth pacing moves can be reviewed as passing emotions, gestures and facial expressions back and forth between you and the person, who is on the other end of the line.

Why is my cat so interested in me when I go to the bathroom?

This is directly out of my cat book "It's a Cat's World... You Just Live In It."Why do cats follow you into the bathroom?            Well, it’s not for your odiferous habits. Despite their strong sense of smell, cats seem to tolerate your stink and love to follow you into the bathroom. Some people hypothesize that it’s because cats don’t like being shut out of a section of the house, and as soon as that door closes they want “in” to investigate what’s going on behind closed doors. I think that cats know that they have you trapped, like a mouse stuck on a glue trap. They know you can’t go anywhere while you’re sitting on the john, and now you have to pet them. Now they can rub their face all over your legs and you can’t move or resist because you’re stuck. At least you know they love you and your smells.
