Why Do They Seperate Women And Men Wrestling

What experiences do you have with wrestling men and women?

(Coached high school wrestling for 10 years) I hope you don’t think I’m sexist for my answer, I’m only stating what I’ve seen. At the high school level, I have only seen a couple female wrestlers who can consistently beat male wrestlers. Their technique is not just sharp, it’s flawless. They don’t use muscle, they use leverage and speed. A good female wrestler wrestles at a skill level is very impressive to watch. However, those female wrestlers who can consistently beat male wrestlers are difficult to find. Typically, males are stronger, more coordinated, and have better balance. IMHO, it could be because, in our society, young boys are drawn towards sports and young girls aren’t.Female wrestlers are much more accepted in the sport nowadays. When I was in high school in the 1990’s they had a lot of sexism and ridicule that they had to contend with. Threats were not uncommon. Males who were matched up against a female wrestlers would often get very nervous because if they lost, it would be very humiliating! Happily, female wrestlers today are much more commonplace and even compete in their own leagues, and being beaten by a female wrestler is no less humiliating than being beaten by a male wrestler.

Why do women usually beat men in wrestling?

men are thought that hitting a woman is badwomen are not thought the same, actually movies teach us the complete opposite, that a woman who beat men is coolmen are also thought that losing to a woman is shameful, while women are encouraged for putting up a fight whether they lose or notso when a man is unfortunate enough to face a woman in the ring, he got nothing to win and everything to lose, which puts him in fear, while the woman is in psychological advantage, she will be motivated, she fears nothinga scared man will only be able to give 30% at best, while the woman will be able to give 100% or more, thats why women usually beat men, and they can even beat men who are more trained than themin highschool, a freind of mine wrestled the same girl in three times, he lost in all three, couldn’t defeated not even once, although her strength and skill was mediocre at best and he was a better wrestler, but facing a female had him all shaking while she was unphased and focused which helped her emerge victorious every single time

Is it possible to end gender separation in wrestling if female wrestlers are allowed to deduct five percent of their weight in intergender matches?

This is actually an interested hypothesis although I've had my ass kicked multiple time by a girl (Bronze Medalist Patricia Miranda if you were wondering). The girls who have won state titles certainly don't seem to be having a problem. The high school rules don't allow boys to go under 7% body fat but girls are restricted to 12% (for developmental and safety reasons). The 5% adjustment would correct this imbalance but still doesn't necessarily accounts for the massive strength differences between boys and girls. At the same time, we don't correct for weight imbalances for disabled athletes.Alternatively, female wrestlers should focus on what advantages they do have. Wrestling has always been a sport that is allows nearly any body type to compete. For instance, I know that wrestling girls means you'll really have to battle for a pin since their shoulder blades go all over the place. I have also seen instances where a coach will throw out their girl rather than the regular starter since the girl would have a better chance at keeping the match close.

Woman Grappling with men? MMA. Help/Advice?

Well first off you have to realize that this type of martial art training is close body contact just like wrestling and that you will have that with your training partners at times. You also have to realize that not all those training might be mature and able to deal with this and the close body contact that it brings with you as their partner. You might even have some virgins in that group and teenagers being a little immature and a little inexperienced with this kind of situation and dealing with it probably are struggling with handling it also or maybe are so immature that they can't deal with it or handle it appropriately.

I think keeping this in mind might at least make it more understandable but may not alleviate the situation entirely. You might talk to the instructor and he might take all the males aside and try to impress on them that they need to keep things on the right level and maintain a certain level of behavior and decorum.

Beyond that I would make it a point to look as unkempt and un-groomed as possible and try to create a certain persona about yourself so that they feel less inclined to let things stray. That might make you feel more comfortable and it is an adjustment that I think you should consider. One of my female friends who has been doing jujitsu for many years never wears makeup or perfume to class and workouts and never showers before coming to train. She generally dresses in cotton sweats and rolls in them unless she knows everyone there and then might strip down to t-shirt, sports bra, and shorts but that is if she only knows everyone and knows that they can handle the close contact and keep it on the appropriate level. You might want to consider doing the same as there is a certain comfort level for you here as well which is why you are asking the question.

Should women and men compete in the same athletic events (against each other)?  Why or why not?

No because men and women are inherently different due to their physiology. We should be celebrating the differences between the sexes, and our own masculinity or femininity instead of trying to force the human species to become androgynous.Men and women should celebrate their differences and how these differences ultimately complement each other when the male and female sex cooperate.

What are the sports that men and women play together?

LOL There's a good reason why men and women don't play sports together.

Hubs and I have worked with church youth groups for years. When we worked with a younger group of kids, we would play things like basketball, soccer, floor hockey, that kind of thing. The guys and girls were evenly matched - some of the girls even outplayed the boys. Now that we are working with an older youth group - most of the people attending are young adults - the guys are far better at sports than the girls. We hardly ever play sports together. When we have a game of soccer now and then, the guys have to be careful not to hurt the girls because they are fully-grown men and they are alot stronger than we are. One thing I have noticed - the girls are way more aggressive than the guys. I don't know why this is, maybe we feel we have something to prove? Either way, we are hopelessly outmanned by the guys and have to resort to cheap shots (one of the young ladies has a penchant for shin-kicking LOL) in order to have an edge over the guys. I would say that even with professional athletic training, the men would likely still be stronger than the women. It's just biology and there's not much we can do about it (apart from steroids, that is!). I don't think it is a bad thing either.

EDIT - I just thought of something that men and women can do pretty much equally well. Downhill skiing. Particularly racing. I'd say those people are pretty evenly matched! I downhill ski with my family and my bros-in-law. I'm a darn fast skier....the only reason the guys can ski faster is because i hold myself back (well, and my skis haven't been sharpened and waxed in a while!!). They're not afraid of falling, and I am a little bit so I make sure I'm firmly in control when I ski. They don't. I really think that's the only difference.

Is it fair to force a male wrestler to wrestle a girl for the state championship? Are we trading one person's right for another? It all seems complex.

One to the new left! One day they tell young boys and men to be better towards women, the next day they tell them to slam these women on the floor. If they do either of these, they’re guilty, if they don’t..well you get the point.
