I call my group of cats a pride! I know there is probably a more correct name, but it suits them. They are all either princes or princesses as they are all neutered, except the feral one!At one time when both my mother's cat, my daughter’s cats and mine were all under one roof, we would go for a daily walk, me and my pride.I would head out and call from the edge of our lawn “lets go babies" and cats would appear from every direction. Even the lazy indoor cat would materialize. It often reminded me of the pied piper with cats oozing towards me from every direction.Seven cats and I, out for a walk. More of a saunter, or a stroll truth be told.Cats don't go for an orderly walk. One needs to climb a tree, two stop for nature calls, another thinks they smell a mouse. It takes time. Some range ahead, some lag behind. Many walk unseen on parallel paths.I would pause frequently and call the laggards and outliers. The ones in close proximity would lay down to rest and wait. Once all the noses were accounted for, the stroll continued.We walked as a group, through our fields until we neared home again. Then the cats would again ooze away to follow their individual pursuits. The lazy indoor cat would lead me back indoors loudly demanding her reward for the exertion.So I feel they earned the label of a “pride" of cats.

I don't believe I've ever actually seen catcalling before, but when I saw this question, I immediately thought of the 1951 photograph titled "An American Girl in Italy"Of course, my memory of the actual name of the photograph was fuzzy, and I didn't know the year it was taken. So, I looked it up, and found this fascinating interview with the woman in the photograph. At 83, subject of ‘American Girl in Italy’ photo speaks out The woman, while appearing harassed, claims that she actually felt appreciated. This was utterly shocking to me. It occurs to me that this must be a cultural thing. Catcalling must be today only a remnant of some long ago era where such behavior was acceptable, encouraged, and even appreciated. This is likely done as a form of entertainment where the men feel a thrill and don't feel as though they are causing harm. Of course, many women do feel harassed, and it's not decent behavior. At least, not where I come from.

I can't help you with the origins of "molly," which is a young, immature, or spayed female, or "gib" which is a term for a neutered male, but I can tell you that a group of cats is called a "clowder." Why do men think it's okay to cat call young girls?
1) Because some girls like it, and the men who do this have seen that some girls like it, so they try it with most girls to see if they get a positive reaction. And older guys who do this to younger girls do it usually because the girl they are trying to get attention from, looks like and dresses as if she is much older, so they have no idea how old you really are. 2) Guys usually only make a big deal to try to get attractive girls attention, not the unnattractive who also dresses frumpy. And the more cutsy the girl dresses, or the more revealing her clothes, the more guys will come along cat call you. If you don't want this attention, cover up and don't dress so cutsy. Lesbian butch girls have no trouble warding off men's "cat calls" because butch lesbians look manly and dress manly, which is not attractive to straight men. 3) If you feel you would be losing your independence if you change your appearance to avoid cat calls, then your going to have to deal with guys giving you attention. 4) Let me ask you, would it be better if girls gave you cat calls? I'm sure you've been hot on by a girl before. If you hang out at bi/les clubs that girls hang out in, they hit on cute girls all the time. Do you feel better when girls give you attention? More comfortable? If so, maybe you aren't straight. If guys creep you out with their attraction to you no matter who the guy is, thats usually a sign that your bi or lesbian. It means he's introducing you through an antiquated slang. The reasoning behind this could be many things but is most likely one of two. A: he likes you and is using a special moniker to subtly hint as such while still being ambiguous enough to deny should the situation turn awkward B: (And more likely) he is trying to be quaky to the group as a whole by using a slang term that nobody has actually meant for decades, and using you as he likes you enough/feels comfortable enough about you to use your name and have it be complementary should it not take.
