Why Do You Get Scared When Lakes Dry Tissues

How does a cactus survive in the desert?

have many adaptations that allow them to live in dry areas; these adaptations let the plant collect water efficiently, store it for long periods of time, and conserve it (minimizing water loss from evaporation).Cacti have a thick, hard-walled, succulent stem - when it rains, water is stored in the stem. The stems are photosynthetic, green, and fleshy. The inside of the stem is either spongy or hollow (depending on the cactus). A thick, waxy coating keeps the water inside the cactus from evaporating.Prickly Pear cactus (genus Opuntia)Many cacti have very long, fibrous roots, which absorb moisture from the soil. Some, like ball cacti, have shorter, more compact roots that absorb dew water that falls off the cactus.Instead of leaves, most cacti have spines or scales (which are modified leaves). These spines and scales do not lose water through evaporation (unlike regular leaves, which lose a lot of water). The spines protect the cactus from predators (animals that would like to eat the cactus to obtain food and/or water). Areoles are circular clusters of spines on a cactus. Flowers bud at an areole and new stems branch from an areole.Reproduction:Cacti are flowering plants. The flowers produce seed-bearing fruit. Many cactus species are pollinated by bats. The delicate flowers usually bloom for a short period of time in the Spring. Many cacti can also be grown from broken-off parts of the plant (but the new plant will be genetically identical to the original plant).Habitat and Range:Cacti are native to the Americas (North and South America). They are generally found in dry areas, but can be found in many habitats (temperate, sub-tropical, and tropical), ranging from deserts to tropical rainforests to high in the Andes Mountains.

Christopher McCandless killed a moose, but spoiled because he tried to smoke the meat?

Again - lots of great answers above - but this time some are a bit off the mark.

Moose meat is very, very lean. No marbling like store meat - the keep their fat on the butt - like Jennifer Lopez.

When you live inland and west of the mountains the air if very, very dry. Alaskan natives did not have access to salt as we know it today. They cut very thin strips of meat and set them on racks made of willow branches to dry. Of course the flies would come - but - the meat would dry before the maggots hatched and the eggs are easily brushed off. FYI - maggots cannot survive on fresh meat, their digestion system is too fast for it - they can only eat spoiled meat. (This is why maggots were used in early times to debreed wounds to prevent gangreen - they removed the dead tissues and left the clean tissue that can heal).

To keep the flies off the meat and help preserve it - the racks would be built around a central fire. The smoke kept the flies at bay, and, the tannic acid in the smoke helped keep mold from forming and added to the flavor.

They would also put a gut pile from the animals taken 100+ feet from the drying racks. The idea being these would be more attractive to the flies than the meat that was drying.

That - and the natives did not harvest the big bulls like we do today. Back then they were smart enough to know the meat from females that did not do battle had more nutrients than bulls, the meat was a bit richer in fat too.

Nipple Piercing Questions?

I say give it 2 week and you should be able to work out. They’re pretty sore even after a week to a lot of movement. When you do work out put some tissue between your nipple and the bra / top, or use a bandage to stop rubbing or the crusty bits from catching or being rubbed off. (Those crusty bits are the healing plasma dried out. They're the good bits, don't pick them or knock them loose.) _ Too much rubbing could cause irritation or an infection so be careful. Also with sweat you have to make sure you keep them dry & be careful with them. If you find jumping around and being active hurts your nipple then you need to wait longer.
No you can still do all sports and everything else normally. You may be more aware of rubbing so go back to the tissues or bandages if it becomes an issue. The only other worry is that if you get knocked in the nipped it could rip the healing skin; the result of which could be a longer healing period, damage to the nipple or if it’s not taken care of an infection.
I wouldn't go swimming for a month or two. It’s a surface piercing so it takes a lot longer for the healing skin to put a protective barrier around all that raw skin. If you do swim in chlorine or a lake make sure you give it a Really good salt wash afterwards.
Touching is fine but don't pull, twist or roll the bar / loop for around 2 months. And even then be very careful with not irritating it. Everyone heals at different speeds but any stretching of healing skin can crack open the healed tissue. If you’ve got crusty bits don’t pick them off. If you really want / need to rotate it and ensure it’s not too stiff in the hole do it after a warm shower and you’ve softened up the piercing skin.
A good piercer should put pen points on your nipple to guide where the piercing will go through. Only once you like the angle and positioning should they go ahead and clamp you and perform the piercing. Don’t let them just clamp and pierce without making sure you like the position.

Why are my toenails yellow?

1. Get some UNPASTEURIZED apple cider vinegar such as "Bragg's" Brand. You can find it in the health food or organic section of better supermarkets.

2. Go to the dollar store and buy a supply of emery boards & cut them in half. Once or twice a week file down the top layer of each toenail and blow away the dust.

3. Poor a small amount of the UNPASTEURIZED apple cider vinegar into a shall disposable or washable dish. Dip a cotton ball or Q-tip in the vinegar and apply it to your toenails. Let it air dry or if you are in a hurry use a paper towel or tissue to dry the toe off. Toss out the unused portion (you only need a little bit) and throw the nail file you used away as you do not want to cross-contaminate any of the solution of tools with the fungus. Do this every single day until the fungus has full grown out and is totally cut off. Then do it for at least one more week to be on the safe side and once a week thereafter as a preventative measure.

This will work, but like an fungal treatment, you will have to be diligent and patient. I will tell you this is effective and A LOT cheaper than a prescription such as Lamisil AND a lot safer and easier on your liver!!!!!!!
