Why Do You Think Geniuses/professors/academics Are Less Inclined To Integrate Themselves With

My brother is a genius, but cannot get through college because he procrastinates very heavily. What can he do with his mind besides college?

I prefer professional counseling, especially career counseling . people like your brother need attention if he is to be made something out of him. He need to work-hard to develop interest in something i can do better that involves and utilizes his physical energy than just reading too much . Reading is good for him but am afraid it may help him procrastinates further.  He need to diversify his thinking and  holistically involves his body. for example let him get involving helping other people like in youth leadership. It helps.why i said career counseling, is the best for him, so that he can avoid reading heavily. He has to know that there is time for every thing. His time table should indicated and include out door activities, extra curriculum activities is what i mean. Your brother also need to get involved in a social life, it is good for his healthy living. Help of relatives like yourself is important. people like your brother get bored easily with life. I have seen people of your brothers character, around myself loosing hope easily and ending destroying their own life, if they miss to achieve what they want to achieve life. Am not saying your will destroy his life. What i am trying to say is help your brother achieve what he want achieve in life because people like him easily loose hope.Let me give an example about a story of my classmate who to on top class throughout. He read to much. He could score 90 percent in a subject and you could see his mood the same as someone who has scored average. He wanted to score a hundred in every test. After high school entry exam ,his parents were not able to pay for the school of his choice. He was taken a school where his parent could afford but he dropped out later. He went to the street beg and his is now mad. i wished myself i could help then.

Why isn't Donna Strickland a full professor?

Donna Strickland is an Associate Professor, meaning she has tenure, but has not been promoted to full professor.Why she is not a full professor is a question for her tenure and promotions committee. As a rule, these decisions are made from a combination of teaching, research and administration. To make full professor, one has to show a high degree of achievement in at least two of the triumvir and reasonable competence in the third.Because promotion is based on an internal and external review of a portfolio and not the impact of a specific scientific accomplishment, it is possible that her colleagues mistakenly looked for quantity of output rather than impact.Sadly, promotions and tenure decisions can be quite nasty political affairs as well. I am not sure if that has been the case for Dr. Strickland.I have no doubts that Dr. Strickland will apply for promotion again and the Nobel will be a major feather in her cap.(Incidentally, I taught a class today in the very building that Dr. Strickland works in and only a few steps from her lab. It’s amazing — as a kid I wanted to grow up to be Marie Curie. And I ended up being not too far from the real thing — one of many more to come I hope!)Update: Now that Dr. Strickland has been able to speak for herself, it seems like she never took the time to apply for promotion. It may seem strange to be so accomplished but never apply for additional money, but I understand the instinct. The tenure application process is (as I’ve describe above) onerous, difficult and sometimes nasty and political. I can imagine someone so passionate about her work being less than inclined to worry about promotion.
