Why Does America Pretend To Be The World Police

Why does United States pretend to be the world police?

Because the US empire is a commercial system and to make America rich requires economic growth globally.Luckily.The British empire was a commercial empire that had elements of positive cultural export as well as some oppression too but really they wanted trde and money. The local religion or culture wasnt a priority for them to change ( although some missionaries took advantage of the situation) This is a gross generalisation of course. The US “empire” is similar in that the financial institutions and the use of US dollar as a trade currency allows the US to “print money” .This is how the US can afford to be the world police - versus the others who tried such as the Soviets and Fascists and such types. None of thise systems focuses on money as the key ideology and they fall apart. So the US grows when the global economy grows - assuming the world is generalky friendly to the US.There is also the cultural aspect that American democracy despite uts glaws is farmore idealistic and generous than most other countries in history. Its prt of it.Also you are much safer in a world if frienda than enemies and you make more money.Doesnit make more aense to you now? Please note that the US is not a single person - the givernment has plenty of bad guys inside the team and sometimes they get to drive policy here and there - but generally what I wrote is the trend.

Why does the USA police the entire world?

No one is better qualified to answer this question than the man in charge of the United States of America himself: President Barack Obama. So, to quote Mr. Obama from a “60 Minutes” interview in September of 2014,"When trouble comes up anywhere in the world, they don't call Beijing, they don't call Moscow. They call us. That's the deal. That's always the case. America leads. We are the indispensable nation. We have capacity no one else has. Our military is the best in the history of the world. When there's a typhoon in the Philippines, take a look at who's helping the Philippines deal with that situation. When there's an earthquake in Haiti, take a look at who's leading the charge helping Haiti rebuild. That's how we roll. That's what makes us Americans."I may not always agree with the Mr. Obama’s policies or beliefs, but when it comes right down to it this quote is spot on. America is one of the only countries capable of helping the countries and peoples around the globe who cannot help themselves. Though we are not always successful in our missions to help other countries, America always has been, and always will be, the nation that other countries can count upon in their hour of need.

Do most countries welcome America to act as the world's police?

Lets look at alternatives; Putin's Russia, Xi's China or toothless European Regimes......All said and done; US has never maintained colonies and has been; even at its worst; a way 'relatively' benign occupying power. Romans used to slaughter & enslave their enemies; English & French starved & bombed their occupations; Belgians left behind steaming pile of s&*t which is still collpsing; Chinese have managed to obliterate last remnants of Tibetan or Turkik culture.US has been throwing money down the drain for all her mistakes; even now....

Why do Americans pretend China has no democracy?

American's like to pretend we're the only ones who have any kind of "freedom".

France has freedom. Japan has freedom. The UK has freedom. Thailand has freedom. Ireland? Yep, freedom there too. Russia? Yes, even Russia has freedom! Most First World countries have freedom.

Why is the United States policing the world? Shouldn't the United Nations be doing that?

The United Nations is little more than a mechanism for distributing foreign aid and on rare occasions debating issues. The veto power that was given to the 5 major victor nations after WW2 (Great Britain, France, China, the USSR, and these U.S.) basically means that the organization can never take effective international actions on any issue that runs counter to the interests of any one of those nations. The UN has no taxing power, it relies exclusively on voluntary donations from its members. Thus again, it has no independent authority to enforce its agenda. These United States on the other hand in the world’s only superpower (a superpower has, at minimum, the theoretical power to wipe out the human race anything less is not a superpower IMHO). Historically the most powerful nations have always exercised more power and influence over international issues. In the past, some nations were regional hegemons (pre 18th century China; the Roman Empire for 2 examples) who exercised a great deal of influence over their neighborhoods. These United States are the first nation ever to be able to wield world wide influence. With that power comes both the temptation to influence international affairs for the benefit of the nation and the requirement to use that power wisely. I wish my nation had a better track record on that front but ….
