Why Does Brooklyn Feel So Tough After Acquiring 3 Old Guys

Why are Navy guys stereotyped as tough?

It might be slightly dated, but things like Popeye and Bluto. Or the old cliche of "Anchors Aweigh" playing as a bunch of super buff sailors enter a bar to beat someone up. I was just wondering how this whole thing started, Im trying to join the Navy, but would like to finish college and join as an Ensign so i would probably be excluded from such a stereotype if one still exists haha.

Can I press charges for neighbor shooting my dog in the throat?

I live in a rural area of Tennessee. The area around me used to be all family, until one of my uncles sold 2 acres and a trailer to a family of scum. We have had problems with this evil old man before.. he shot my girl dog 3 times as she was running away. She came to the house covered in blood, but I managed to stop the bleeding and she healed up after weeks of close care.

He first lied about shooting her (I was outside when he fired the shots. He tried to say he was on a lawn mower when it happened. It was February...) He later admit to it.

We told him if Choco came down there, call us, and we'd be right there to pick him up. We told him if he shot Choc, we'd have big problems... Yesterday, while I was at work, he shot him in the throat! With a shotgun!!!

Being the trooper he is, Chocolate walked home with a hole through his jaw. I didn't know what happened at first, I just came home, made sure he could travel, and took him to the vet.

This dog is a great dog, a friend of the family. EVERYONE that has met this dog knows he's a sweet dog that would never harm a human without just cause... This guy just shot him to be an ***.

I'm sure he'll say Choc was attacking his dog (I knocked on his door right after I returned from the vet, and noticed his white dog had 2 pellets from the outer spread of the slug in his rear, but no real injuries from a fight), but this is just WRONG. I know my dog, he would have ran from a warning shot. He didn't get that chance...

Are young black males generally worried about getting killed by police in the US?

As the officer from NY said it's the worry of THAT COP. that worries most blacks. It also depends where you live. In rural Georgia based on the young blacks I've spoken to there's a heavy fear due to the old southern culture that's alive and well. Rural roads and light traffic where anything and everything can happen a young honest hard-working black man can easily become a statistic of another young black male that resisted arrest and reached for what the deputy thought was a handgun which turned out to be a cell phone. Actually he was pulled over for a busted plate light which is very popular charge to pull someone over and obeyed every command and the officer baited him with racial rhetoric such as you shouldn't be out at night cause you have to be picking cotton early in the morning. It's done that easily here. Just look at video of Cobb county multi year veteran stating to an elderly white woman who was scared of being shot after being pulled over and wasvtold by the officer that we only shoot black people .your white so you can put your hands down.

Getting rid of my new york accent.HELP?

Incidentally, I had a linguistics professor in college who said this: it generally helps to purse your lips like you're holding an ink pen between your teeth, if you want to change "wata" to "water," "matta" to "matter," etc. I don't know personally if this works though: my dialect is not one of the so-called "r-less" dialects of the English language.

Anyway, pronunciation is not always a matter of immaturity; it's a matter of sheer difficulty in many cases. This is why, for example, bi-lingual/Spanish-dominant folks sometimes speak "terrible" English, and vice versa; it's hard for people to make the speech muscles work in ways in which they do not normally use them. Nothing wrong with drinking wata and demanding someone's head on a platta.

What do I do about my girlfriend dressing like a slut?

Your GF is an accident waiting to happen. You can either walk away from it now, your become an alcoholic yourself. Drinkers tend to lie and blame other people. They act like they are tough but deep inside, drinkers are the biggest wimps on Earth and she will rat you out in a heartbeat and lie about you to save her own drunken butt. Drunks have loyalty to only one thing- booze. They will lie, cheat, steal, and kill for alcohol.
People that have an addiction cannot love. They have lost the ability to love themselves and they cannot love others.
You don't see it now because she has found a sucker to take care of her, to be her straight man for her. Alcoholics tend to have straight people who are their significant others. Go to an ALANON meeting. The room is filled with 50 to 100 people talking about how they love this person and how good the person is when they don't drink.
What you are dealing with is a bi polar personality made worse by substance abuse. When sober she will steal the Brooklyn Bridge for you and mount it on the back of her dad's truck and deliver it to your door. But after she's had a few drinks, she's off partying in her hoochie momma clothes and she cannot be trusted.
My grandmother was married to a guy like that.
My mother had to deal with my dad. When my dad died, you couldn't move the room was filled with friends. A lot of people liked him,but the drinking also meant that he hurt the few people who truly cared about him.
You are like the Great Gatsby. You are true to this woman and you would gladly lay down your own life for her. But like Daisy Buchanan, your girl friend isn't worth a bottle of cheap wine compared to the love you give her.

Can i become a successful actor?yahoo answers?

No matter what, if you have an interest in acting you can always keep that as a hobby or something to do on the side. But professional acting is a business. So no, it's not all about luck. It's not a lottery where there are a bunch of open auditions you can go to until you're "discovered" or something. It's like starting a company and you are the product that has to be marketed and sold. So you need a good product (talent, training and experience) but you also have to understand the industry and how the business works. You need to network and make connections in the industry. And you have to be able to make good business decisions about your career.

All types of people are needed for acting. Being fit will be helpful for certain roles - but your acting skill is most important.

So, keep taking acting classes. Try some in the city and make sure that you really have the talent and the interest in acting. Acting is EXTREMELY competitive. You'll be rejected far more than you'll be accepted. It's very unstable. Just because you got cast in one thing doesn't mean you're set. Every acting job you get is temporary - so you always have to worry about when (and if) you'll get another job. So if you're going to try to do this as a career you really need to make sure it's something you love doing.

And also research the industry and learn the business end of things and what it takes to have a professional acting career. Check out the backstage.com website - it has several articles about working as professional actor. Also read some books about the business end of things and how to manage a professional career and see if that's something you're willing to do.

Be careful - there are a lot of scams and ripoffs out there. So if you can educate yourself about how things work and how to spot scams - you'll protect yourself better. I

Good luck.
