What does it mean when my cat hisses at my boyfriend?
Let me tell you a story about my cat jj. And the guy I was with. The guy I was dateing at the time. His mother's cat had kittens . All kittens got loving homes . Exept this angel cause he was the runt of the litter. I missed having a cat my boyfriend at the time brought me jj. And said no one wanted this cat cause he was a runt. If you don't want him. I'm throwing him into the river. I thought my ex was making a joke at the time. But I said you will do no such thing. I raised him . And I fell in love and jj loved only me. In over timed jj hated my boyfriend. Would never let my bf pick him up or never showed any affection towards him. My bf was mad cause jj would never lay on his chest . But always wanted to be by my side and only showed affection to me. And other people. But never bf. Anyways I beilve cats know good people from bad people. Cats have good judgement on people. My cat saw something in my bf that I was blind to see. Me and my bf was fighting cause i caught him cheating on me behind my back. And he was upset cause i was pregnant with his baby. And wanted me to get rid of it. I said no. I'm against abortions. I'm keeping the baby. He stared pushing me against the walls and started beating me. Something inside jj snaped.he ran out from under the bed and clawing and biting the HELL out of bfs leg and growling and hissing at him. Sadly I had a miscarriage. But jj knew from the start my bf was a bad egg . He was trying to protect me. Well anyways he went out of my life. And my last boyfriend I had. Jj me and my new boyfriend was watching tv in my room . When my boyfriend tryed to hug me. For some reason jj out of nowhere jerked back and started hissing and growling at him. Turns out the guy was a bad egg to. But I seem to be fooled by men. My jj isn't . He loves my sister's husband who is a great man. And very good with cats. And jj loves my dad . And my grandpa. God rest his soul. Turns out cats can sense a good person from a bad one. So when I want to have a long lasted relationship with a man. He has to past the test with jj. If jj starts hissing or hide from him. Then it's a sign not to start a relationship with that guy. And run from that person as far as you can. So your cat might be telling you somethings not right with the guy
Why does my boyfriend's cat hate me and hiss at me so much?
I've never been around cats much, but I was never scared of them until I met my boyfriend's cat. When I first started visiting he would hiss at me if I got too close in accident. I just ignored him and figured he would warm up to me eventually. One time he hissed at me and I was so mad and scared myself that I hissed back to try to scare him. He usually ignores me or runs away from me and I've been staying at my boyfriend's house for one year now. Today I left the room and was gonna hop into bed (in the dark) he was next to the bed hissing over and over. I was so terrified, I jumped on top of the bed, flicked on the lights, and stared at him saying "go go" trying to make him leave. He wouldn't stop hissing until my boyfriend woke up and told him to leave. My heart was pounding. I was truly terrified and I'm afraid I'm developing a very strong phobia to cats. I am scared to get closer than 5 feet to him. Please help me regain my sanity
Why does my boyfriend's cat keep hissing at me and scratching me?
I have been living with my bf for a month now, and his eldest cat keep hissing and scratching me. At first, she just hiss at me, but now she is attacking me when she hiss now. I am scare going to a certain part of our apartment, because she will run to me, hissed and scratch me. Just day, I got scratched by her like three times now. The last time did it, I read one helpful tip that when they hiss at you don't look in their eye, well, I did that and she still scratched me..twice even though I did not look at her in her eyes. The only time she is nice is when I feed her, or he around. I thought I will never say this, but I am scare crapless of this cat. She even hiss at him but she do not attack him and he playing with her roughly.Many people say use water, some people say use a broom. I do not know what to do. :(
Why is my cat attacking my boyfriend?
My cat has horribly attacked my boyfriend a dozen times in the last couple of months. It has been getting worse, too. Three times just today. So far she only attacks the boyfriend. Never even hisses at me. Sometimes the attack is completly out of the blue. She did get fixed just before the first attack. We also had a baby right before the first attck. I really do not want to get rid of her, but we have a three month old baby and when the cat is in attack mode I always worry about him. She also draws blood with every attack! We have to hold her down and toss her on the patio after she has an episode... She is so angry, too. (Ears are back, hissing, and growling.) What the heck do I do? Thanks for the help!
How do I get my cat to stop hissing and growling at my boyfriend!!?
My cat is 3 years old. She is SO affectionate, cuddly and sweet with me....the problem is, she is ONLY this way with ME! I got her when she was tiny, so I know she wasn't ever abused...she has been spayed, and is healthy. I lived by myself with just my cat Charlie since she was a kitten, and I whenever I had people to my house, she would disappear, and if she ever came out when I had friends over, she would hiss! Now, my boyfriend and I live together and she is horrible to him. It almost feels like she is territorial of me. She hisses and growls if he even enters the room, and then hides under the couch. I recently purchased and "calming collar" and a Feliway diffuser, since I feel like she is scared, I hoped this would help to calm her down. Unfortunately her behavior hasn't changed. She is horrible to my boyfriend, and immediately when he leaves, she cuddles with me. He even tries to talk softy, not make eye contact, etc, but nothing helps. WHAT DO I DO?? I will not give her up for adoption, I love her to death and she is so attached to me....but this situation is stressful for everyone!
Why does my cat purr and hiss at the same time?
purring is not always a sign of being happy. They will purr when they are nervous as well its their way of calming them self down. Both my cats have distinct purrs one where they are happy and one where they are nervous. Their nervous purr is usually quick and content and happy is long purrs.
Why does my cat hiss at me when I try to take her off my lap?
She's just been recently doing this. When I am on my computer, she usually hops on my lap. When I start moving around though, she meows in protest, as if she knows I'm going to kick her off and get up. When I do finally start to get up and hold her at the same time, she hisses at me. Should I just shoo her off and not pick her up? She doesn't hiss as if she'll attack me - afterward, she just looks at me and smacks her lips, lol. Does it just mean "Don't disturb me?"

About 33 years ago, I had a cat named Sally Cat. She was a spayed shorthair domestic, and a kinda small cat, but she really loved me. She was the 1st kitty friend I ever had, and a real sweetheart. About 2 years after I got her, I met the woman I eventually married, and became my ex-wife. Now, I don’t know if it was jealousy or what, but sally hated her. She would do things like wiggle in between us if we sat next to each other, if I left the room, Sally would hiss and swat at my ex. When she’d spend the night, Sally’d get very mad, and let me know in no uncertain terms she did not approve of me having overnite company, especially my ex. She finally died at 7 years, and never, ever did she take to my ex. Even after we got married, she’d do her best to kick my ex outa the bed at nite. Maybe, after it was all over and done with, the Cat had more sense then I did. I do miss her (Sally Cat) not my ex.

I can usually befriend even shy cats. First, I wait until the cat comes out of hiding. Then, I will get something interesting from my pocket or nearby, sit down and put the item out in front of me. I will look at the ground but keep an eye on the cat peripherally. When I can tell that I’ve got the cat’s attention (but before it begins approaching me), I put my hand out slowly in its direction. If the cat is curious enough, it will cautiously make its way to sniff my hand and hopefully rub its face against it. This is my cue to gently pet the cat. They warm up pretty quickly after that.A good way to ruin your chances with getting to know a cat is to approach it quickly and then follow it to its hiding place. It will be afraid of you for a long time after that.
