Why Does My Cat Keep Peeing And Pooping Everywhere

How can I stop my cats from peeing and pooping everywhere?

Cats peeing and popping all over you home is a sign that something is wrong. Domestic cats are evolved from wild animals that are both predator and prey. They have an instinctual need to hide their waste. They will use urine and feces to communicate with one another, but they are not comfortable living in a latrine. You need to figure out why the problem(s) is(are). Are all of your cats spayed or neutered? Unaltered cats often feel the need to mark their territories. Unaltered males find it more difficult to share space with one another and big pile of poo can send a powerful message.Do you have enough litterboxes? There need to be enough so that the most timid cats in the household aren't excluded from them. Put them in several different locations. Make sure you cannot see them all at once. Try to have at least one on each floor of your home. Make sure there are plenty of hiding spaces and get aways for everyone.Keep the boxes well maintained. Remember that your cats need to feel comfortable putting their feet in there. Cats like to feel clean. A box that gets a lot of traffic may need to be emptied multiple times a day.Are your cats declawed? Sometimes declawed cats will refuse to use the letterbox because they have phantom pain in their toes. The litter irritates their feet and/or they instinctively avoid a dirty box. If you think this could be a problem, try different litters AND EMPTY THE BOXES AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN. I have a blind cat who used to refuse to get into a litter box that contains ANY feces…he absolutely doesn't want that on his feet. He's learned how to manage it now, but as a kitten he would simply poop right next to the box if it already smelled like poop. Are all of your cats healthy? A cat with urinary tract issues will sometimes pee outside the box. These animals need medical attention.Once one cat starts peeing or pooping in a different spot, other cats will often go there too. The is particularly true if they find the litter boxes disgusting. Clean up thoroughly and use enzymes to eliminate the odor. Get a blacklight if you can to help locate sources of odor…. Your cats noses are much better than yours.

Why is my cat peeing, pooping, and throwing up everywhere?

First things first : go to the vet.And another things, valid for any cat, anytime (I know this might be obvious, but still, it doesn't hurt to remind about) :*Keep its food and water bowls clean.*Keep its water fresh and clean.*Keep the litter box accessible and clean. Scoop out its feces and urine daily.*Make sure the cat takes its parasites medicines as prescribed.*Make sure you don't have plants that might be harmful to cats (Google them), chocolate, human medicines, cleaning products, etc.I'm not saying those things will cure your cat. But prevention and good habits can go a long way. All the best to you and your little friend.

My kittens keep peeing and pooping everywhere, what do I do??

My two kittens seem to poop everywhere, even in the litter box but everywhere else to. we tried keeping them in a room with the litter and food during the day but when they come out the poop somewhere else..i don't understand, how much can they poop in one day?? How to get them to just poop and pee in the litter???

After cat has been neutered he is peeing and pooping everywhere?

You should have him checked by a vet. If he does have a urinary tract problem, and these are extremely serious, it should help with his inappropriate urination. So please do call the vet and explain what has been happening.

Since he is also defecating outside the box though I think something else is going on (this is not to say he may not have a urinary tract infection or crystals). I am guessing that this is territorial marking behavior brought about by some sort of stressful change in the environment or an upsetting change in his relationship with your other cats.

Cats mark their territories. Usually healthy litter-trained cats limit their urine and feces marking to the box but still mark in other ways such as with rubbing "their" places with their facial scent glands.
Cats become very insecure when their territory is not marked.

This might be a clue to his behavior change. Since he has been neutered his testosterone (male hormone) levels have plummeted and he smells different. Perhaps even to himself. Perhaps he has been doing his facial rubbing but because he doesn't smell the same he doesn't recognize his own scent and is upping the ante with more noticeable markings - urine and feces?

What I am saying about cats, territory, and marking is correct. The rest I am guessing at.

The other possibility is that without you recognizing it, the other cats are treating him differently. His marking might be his way of sticking up for himself in what has become a less friendly social environment. If you had the other 3 fixed before him, they may not like his new, testosterone-free scent.

Or if you had them all fixed at the same time perhaps he is upset by the changed scents of the others.

What is going on with your guy is not normal and I don't recall ever having heard of it.

You should do as the others suggested with a black light, scent remover ( I recommend a product called Nature's Miracle) and a Feliway diffuser.

You can read about Feliway here, there are some good links in the site too:

Hope you will post some more questions about this and I do hope the situation is resolved quickly.

My male neutered cat is peeing and pooping everywhere ?

A.a.a.r.g.h!! My two cats did that to me. What a cleaning and renovation mess!!

I found it was stress from someone breaking into our house. My nephew came into the house one day wearing all black and the cats jumped in the air, hissed and ran down the stairs like they were being chased by dogs!! Poor things!

1) So your cat may be feeling stressed because there is something new for him in "his" house.

2) Also, there might another cat he saw outside.

3) Also, cats are very, very, very finicky about a clean litter box.

Sprinkle some baking soda on the litter box before you put litter on it.

My cats love the smell of bleach on their litter box and one has a lid on it too. As soon as they have a really clean litter box, they jump in right away.

Put a spray bottle with bleach and water near litter box to periodically spray litter box throughout the day.

4) Try getting some cat anti-urine spray and spray it wherever they are peeing and pooping. Try Feliway from your vet. It costs about $20

5) Check out these sites for some information as well.

Please don't put your cat down. Perhaps your cat senses your anger towards his misbehaving.

Take care and God bless. Keep safe.

Why does my cat poop everywhere but the litter box, but has no problem peeing in it?

Some cats are very particular about bathroom activities. I have two cats now, and use three litter boxes. One is mainly for feces, one is usually urine, and the third is just in case I am not quick enough cleaning up after them! To be clear, i can't control what they do in the box, but that is what ends up in there.I try to maintain one litter box per cat, and at least one spare, I have had up to six litter boxes on the go with five cats, and have never had issues with bad behaviour.Try adding another litter box, ideally in another are if you can. If you can't, then ensure the box is scooped several times a day. They don't like dirt, and that is probably why you are seeing peeing work ok, but not pooping.

My cat pees and poops everywhere?

Although the dog and cat are seperate she may feel a bit insecure that there is another pet to share the attention. It sounds to me like she is marking her territory. Is she spayed? If not then I would strongly recommend getting her spayed as that will help improve her behaviour. If you see her toileting somwhere she shouldn't be then immediately pick her up and put her in the litter tray. Whatever you do, don't use a water spray thing. This is a good method for some behaviours but not for toileting as she will become afraid of toileting and may 'hold it in' which can lead to health problems.

Try using a citrus spray - just a home made mixture of water and lemon juice will do - and spray it in areas where she is peeing and the scent of citrus should deter her from doing it there again.

Also, you mentioned she pooped in the shower tray, do you use bleach to clean it? Most bleach contains ammonia which smells very much like cat pee so would encourage her to pee as she will think another cat has been there and then she will try and mark her territory.

Good luck.

Incontinent Manx Kitten is pooping and peeing EVERYWHERE?

Hi everyone,

We adopted a Manx Kitten and it can't control its bladder. We have tried making diapers and they simply don't fit or fall off. When we leave, the kitten poops EVERYWHERE. How can we help control his bladder and where can we find kitten diapers. Premie diapers and doll diapers and dog diapers don't work. I really don't want to put her down over this. Any insight helps tremendously.. Thank you.

There are reasons you need to check out first why your cat doing it. The cat will not pee and poop outside of litter box just for fun so there must have a problem. So it is owner’s duty to find it, fix it before training to use the litter box.First important is to check with the vet because kitty may have urinary tract problem which makes him loose before reaching litter box.He won't use if the litter box is unfit ( wrong size ). It must be at least half size bigger than the cat.If you put very little litter in there by being cheap then you need to deal with urine fragrant bed, sofa or dark chocolate covered carpet and floor. Put enough litter in it.Cats love clean litter box.
