Why does my chest hurt when i cough?
it sounds like a normal cold. caused by viruses - you can't take antibiotics for them. your chest hurts because all the muscles which allow you to cough have been used so much they've become inflamed. also all the pleura, and things around the lungs which are compressed when you cough are a little sore from coughing so much. it's just a sucky thing. if your still worried go to your local physician who will check you over - definitely go if you still have it by 3-4days for sure. try drinking hot water + lemon, ginger, or oranges.

So I've been sick since last week Wednesday, but my chest has been fine. But I have been coughing so much since that day and still now. Like a lot. This morning when I woke up (Monday), my chest was hurting. And when I cough it starts to hurt really bad. Is this cause of how much I have been coughing or what? Is it something I should be worried about? ALso, I got the flu shot a few days ago and I been taking NyQuil every night since I've been sick.

This is has been happening to me for awhile i think for sure it's my sinuses for you it must be a normal cold sometime i freak out and can't breathe in the middle of the night because of it try to take Mucunix or whatever that fat green blob commercial guy medicine the liquid works better than those powder ones you put on your tongue. Don't eat or drink anything sticky too especially avoid milk it makes the mucus thicker and closes up your throat. Something hot like hot cocoa burns away it. But the best thing for you and i mean the best is to go to a proffesional doctor instead of taking my advice from yahoo answers good luck.

My educated guess would be bronchitis. I get it every year and have the same symptoms. You need to go to the doctor but in the meantime, if you have a vaporizer, you need to use it. Get some Vicks VapoRub and put it on your chest.
